  • 2017 Yamaha R1M. I was teaching her how to ride the bike, and unfortunately it was dropped. Minor damage to mirror, brake lever, few bolts, and broken foot peg, she lost her balance when she brake too hard while in a slow turn.
    Gas leaked out on the left side of the bike, and coolant start to leak out a little on the right side as I picked the bike up.
    You can find me on Instagram as well: "outspokentiger".
    Check the R1M in action against some other superbikes.

    Get the HP4 Race, it's better starter bike than R1M. 😂😂
    JK I learned the lesson hard way. A friend of mine crashed my bike at very slow speed and it cost me 4000$ to repair. Not letting anyone to ride my bike again. Especially females, because they come and go, and most of them dont really give a shit about the stuff you love.

      Hahahahaha, or we can always find a modded H2 lol. You made a very valid statement though. Although in her defense she literally begs me to teach her so this wasn't my idea to do this. I've said no so many times that I finally just gave in, although this wasn't suppose to be on my R1M. Its just what I was on at that current moment and didn't want to hassle with driving the bike home to swap bikes. Either way this wasn't the brightest of my poor choices lol.

    Dude, you handled that like a boss. And she did too. The more I watch the video, I can see that she was definitely getting more and more comfortable. She did better her first time on a motorcycle than I did. And I think it has a lot to do with her build. The fact that she's strong enough to handle a bike like that, while I had to start off on a 250. And your "bad boy" was also super forgiving. The damage all in all looks very minor. I sure hope you guys are riding together now, and that she found her own bike. If you guys are still an item, then send that fellow lady biker my respect!

    Dude reminds me of me. I used to get up set quickly with a short fuse when I was younger. But growing up and having a wife and children now, I don't get upset at little shit any more. A liter bike or $22k, get over it. I appreciate finding another dude like me. My wife supports me getting a bike and in going to start off on a liter bike too. I think if you don't understand the concept of driving standard, it's hard to teach or learn to ride a bike.

    Your a lot calmer than I would have been, good on you. Why you would let a beginner learn on your super bike... Or any nice bike for that matter? Thats what 1990s bikes and 250s/500s are for. When I taught my wife to ride, I made her buy a 2001 ninja 500. We took her to a parking lot where she proceeded to drop it... 3 times. By the time she was done learning in it, the entire right side of the bike was fucked, she basically ripped off the entire front fairing. We bought that bike for 1100, sold it for 900. That's the best thing about those old bikes, you can usually buy them cheap, learn, beat them up, and still get most of your money back. She went on to owning an R6, and few years later a brand new gsxr 750 which she rides very good now.

      Ride Related Lol, well its a good thing you approached the situation differently than me with three drops. She has rode my R6 before thats why I thought this would be “ok”. Cheap bike is definitely the way to go. Thanks for stopping by, and sharing your story.

    Frame sliders minimize the damage to the bike...but...in almost every tip over...something will get damaged on the bike including the frame sliders...you handled it well...never let anyone ride your bike...if they can't afford to buy their own...they shouldn't be riding somebody else's bike! Not too many riders would let someone ride their brand new R1!

    A pair of frame sliders prevents tip over damage and they are cheap insurance. Fortunately this was only a tip over and not a crash. Beautiful bike, not many of us will part with $25k for that extreme a sport bike.

    Happens to most new riders when they stall. It happened to me on my training day. I dropped my boy CBR600. 1st wanna say glad she’s ok. 2nd you can learn on ANY BIKE. Everyone’s learning capability is different. I know people that crashed on 300cc’s. You can learn on any bike it just takes patience and the willing to learn. Before I bought my first bike I saw dozens off UA-cam videos saying to start on a 300 blah blah. I started on a 600 in 2016 and I’m doing just fine. I just purchased me the 2017 R6 last month. I decided to give myself more time before moving up. I see nothing wrong with you teaching her on a R1 BUT under the circumstances that’s an expensive bike I would prob teach her on a older/used R1. She got the hang of it though until that stall humbled her a bit lol. They always say the 1000’s will set you straight but it’s a learning experience. I wish y’all the best and y’all ride safe.

    After watching this I'm just glad she didn't hurt herself. That's way too much power for a beginner, a little twist of the wrist and she's flying. 1) GET HER SOME DECENT LEATHERS IF YOU LIKE HER SKIN ON HER BODY 2) Get her on something

    • @Outspokentiger
      @Outspokentiger  6 років тому +1

      She has the fundamentals of riding down pack, she learned the basics of riding on my R6. She always beg to go riding, but I normally always say no, but this particular day I said yes. She has ridden four wheelers, and my R6 so I was pretty confident in her throttle control. I do need to get her a jacket though, and here in Texas by law you can't get your actual motorcycle license until you complete a state certified motorcycle course. So eventually she would get trained by a professional on a much more acceptable motorcycle.

    Handing a bike of that caliber to a beginner means you're willing to get it dropped, and sadly it happened. I believe beginners should learn to ride on light bikes like less than 300cc or bikes with low seat height for more leverage if the bike starts to tip. I started on a ninja 650 and I dropped it twice while learning to turn at low speeds. I'd definitely recommend any beginner to take a motorcycle safety course; so worth the money.

      I taught my wife last summer. After having a similar experience, got a Z125 for her. Everything turned different, she started riding alone in neighbourhood after 2 days! It took only a month to feel comfortable and move to a Ninja 650 riding on roads with me.
      A light bike helps new riders to focus only on riding and gain confidence. No need to be worried about anything else since they can handle the light weight like a bicycle! But any bike heavier than 250 lb it too big!

    • @Outspokentiger
      @Outspokentiger  6 років тому

      Yeah lighter, and less powerful bike would be great for her to learn on. She has ridden my R6 before so I figured she would be fine although my R6 is a lot shorter than the R1M height wise. The ride height had a lot to do with what happened considering she was on the tip of her toes the entire time. She hit the front brake too hard, and lost balance.
