Ah...the main problem from my whip maker's perspective with over-conditioning your whip is that it then becomes a magnet for dirt and debris, which can then also contribute to wear on the leather, since it can work its way into the seams between the strands. So generally, use conditioner sparingly, apply it sparingly, and wipe off any excess with a clean, lint-free cloth (I use those lovely flour-sack tea towels you can get, I think 10 to a packet, at WalMart for a really decent price). Thanks for adding that. Yea forgot to mention it. I carry a hand towel in my whip bag just for wiping off excess conditioner. I only condition about 2x a year, but condition my falls every time before I throw mmm assuming a whip has a fall. Merry Christmas.
