We travel to Asheville to camp and kayak on the French Broad river section 9 at high water. Joined by our friend Chris, we make two runs from Barnard to Stackhouse.
Honestly I think it's more technically challenging at a lower flow. At 5000 it was just a bunch of big water with holes to avoid, so I guess the challenge was locating the holes without being pushed into them. The wave trains at Sandy Bottom was one of my favs, like riding a roller coaster ;)
We thought about it, but weren't sure of the line to take. At 5300 it looked like a far right line was best but we didn't see that until we were already down.
Cool video. Loved the soundtrack!
Excellent video. Thanks for posting!
As one of the Few Club 9, y'all know Section 9 holds a special place in my heart....
sweet... you made it look easy most of the time. :) 2nd lap certainly was more frisky !! overall, what would you say the biggest challenges were ??
