The more I listen to this and watch it, the more I love it. It's fascinating how Adam's voice changed over the years. I think he worked hard at it. He's a brilliant vocalist, dancer, guitarist, composer, actor, abd entertainer. He's one of the greats.

WOW!!!! I do not know how this gem has escaped me all of these years as much as I've scoured about for his stuff - UA-cam is crazy with the stuff they keep hidden until they decide it's OK for you (in this case 'me') to see it. I am blown away by this - had no idea. This is absolutely fantastic, F!!

for those who were asking, this was mid/late UK punk.. like 79 if I had to put a year on it. Still very much punk and Adam and the Ants had a hardcore punk following back then.. of course they went more commercial a couple of years later, well who wouldn't when offered fame and money.. not that they saw much of the money

For those who were around at the time there was only ever one Adam and Ants with a cult underground following, Stuart Goddard ( Adam), Andy Warren (bass), Marc Ryan (guitar) Dave Barbe (drums). There was a decadent edge to them never recaptured. RIP Adam and the Ants

Some of the Decca and Jubilee demos have come out - Hampstead from the Jubilee demos and Bathroom Function, Rubber People, Boil In The Bag Man and Song For Ruth Ellis (the last 2 playing slowly) all came out on the Antbox box set in 2000. Fall In and bits of Christian Dior, both also Decca demos, appeared on the soundtrack of the 2015 concert DVD Dirk Live At The Apollo. The Jubilee demo of Dirk Wears White Socks came within a hair's breadth of appearing on a cancelled 2006 DVD, the same one that this and several other videos on this channel were due to appear on.

+preciousbash this never made it to the states, very raw, dark sounding. I really like this, very different from the ant music days.

+preciousbash I figured so, here it was home of the buzzard and stoner hard rock was king, NYC was perfect for this.

totally pure sex! thanx for the video. In france the band was most ignored, even when adam start to become a teen idol. I was really into 'sexmusic for antpeople" at the time and i don't know in great britain but in my country , it was just like practising a fightsport!

I'm wondering if this is the clip used in Derek Jarman's 'Jubilee', not when they are auditioning, but when Adam's character The Kid watches himself perform on the TV

Yes it is. Except here it's got the live audio whereas in the film, the Chappels Studio recording is used instead.

He was his own creation in all eras of his career. The Ants mark 2 were doing a version of this on tour in November 1980, it would have ended up on the B side of one of their CBS hit singles sooner or later, only the owners of Jubilee beat him to the punch and reissued the 1977 version on the B-side of Deutscher Girls.

The director is -probably- DEREK JARMAN.
This appeared on "Jubilee" (1978). And so did Adam, for a good portion of the film.

Jarman was not present for this video shoot. This is briefly glimsed on a TV set in the punk gang's flat in the film. Another performance of Plastic Surgery. filmed at Drury Lane Theatre and which Jarman DID work on, appears elsewhere in the film.

Hey, you got a face like a labrador
    I don't mind, that's what I'm here for
    The angel Gabriel sent me
To give you a little bit of sympathy
Ooh, I'm gonna take you down to Harley Street
Such a shame you had that crash
That will teach you to drive flash
And that lorry, hit you at full power
Your blood gushing like a shower
Gonna take you down to Harley Street
    Plastic surgery, it's so plastic
    Plastic surgery, fantastic
Well, you might have to sell you car
And your parents brand new house
