That would be a great idea especially if it is zombie apocalypse then you were surviving in small island and also you make a fire without lighter or matches to cook a food you have and also to cook the fish you catch
About 10 seconds depending on the wood. The video shows it in real time, so you can see when I start to when you first notice smoke. Thanks for watching!
Have you ever made a fire with a flashlight...I have...give up? You carefully break the bulb not too damage the filament . You put the bulb back into the socket and lightly cover it with very dry grass or moss then you turn it on and blow till you get smoke then a small flame then transfer it to the fire kindling...it takes a very steady hand to break the glass and not damage the filament but it can be done...CHEERS!
When you say "after doing everything" I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean how long does it take once the bow starts turning the spindle? The video shows that part. All the prep work takes some time and is different each time.
It's an old skill that very few have accomplished. It's like knowing how to drive a car with a standard transmission or how to do math without a calculator.
@@KenClick sorry for confusion, RDR2 is a game where you craft, cook, camp, and survive in an open wild west world that is based on 1899 era. The music and action of the video gives that vibe. You should check it out!

Awesome demo Ken, Ray Mears couldn’t have done it better.
You have given me the desire to have a go, thank you.

Was there a special type of wood you used or does it matter as long as it’s dry?
Thanks Ken.
The wood must be dry and not a hard wood. Thanks for watching!
Love the video and very informative. I do wish I saw how the string was attached

God bless you!

Does it matter what wood it is, was stranded and needed fire the other day, and couldn’t figure anything out.

Good job ole friendhow long have you been bowdrill fire making. I myself have only learned it a few yrs now.
I've been doing it a few years. It's not very practical, but it is a great skill to have. 🙂
Nice video...thanks
Thanks for watching!
Very nice!
Thanks!
What kind of string do you use to tie around the stick? Also how do you tie the string around that stick exactly?
I was using paracord. The way it is tied is not important. Any way will work. The important thing is to get it tight fitting around the spindle.
Hi amazing video l love watching btw what knife was it
Thanks for watching! My knife is a "Genesis" by L. T. Wright.

what kind of knife is that?
It's a Genesis Scandi made by L. T. Wright, Here is a link: ltwrightknives.com/shop/knives/genesis-scandi/
It's a pity that you don't specify which woods are suitable for the board and drill
No pity. It's just a demonstration. If you really want to know more the information is available online. Most go no farther than idle talk.

Name or image of this Tree? Every tree branch doesn't work.
Do an internet search for "best bow drill wood" for your area. It's different in different locations.

Can you tell a more easier way to do this?
No, this is the easiest way to start a fire using the "bow drill" method.
What if there's no string?

**I placed a leaf under the hearth board to catch the ember
Yep... I did.

ya we'll not forget the saw but will forget the lighter. right
You missed the point. It's simply a skill challenge. Some would rather not try than risk failure.
5 years and he is still replying to each comment
Indeed! 🙂
Searchin for it in case i got lost when in the woods with no lighter and need to light a fire to repel creatures.

came here just in case theres war

I’m going search this after watching movie, name CAST WAY.😂
In "Cast Away," starring Tom Hanks, he did not use the bow drill method to make fire. Using a bow drill is much easier.
who’s here cus they got no lighter for that green?
🟩✅
whatif is have no knife?🌝🤣
Stay home or be with someone who can take care of you.
I clicked on this cus i dont have a lighter for my blunt
Clicking on the video is a lot easier than actually making fire. Good luck. 🙂
No match or lighter? Use magnifier😅
Or flint.
Yeah all very complicated. There is an easier way. Get a magnifying glass. Start ur fire 🔥 b4 sunset. Happy daze.
I agree. The bow drill method is difficult and not many are able to do it. Thanks for watching!
You cant use a magnifying glass to start a fire you need a specialized lens and make sure its facing on you
Learning just in case if I commit a huge crime and have to run from the government (in Minecraft)
