I heard a lonesome whistle blow. Was that the number 9, headed south from Caroline? Just imagine what he would have done if he hadn't left so soon. A true tragedy to American music that is still being felt today. Hank Williams kind of genius will forever be missed. I'm 53 years old and still waiting to hear his equal. I really enjoyed the drink we had in Montgomery, meant a lot to me. Getting kicked out of The Grand Ole Opry for raising a stink as to why Hank wasn't a member, priceless. I wear it as a badge of honor. The Opry sins to this day.

I inherited my love of Hank's music from my mother. I truly believe that a voice like Hank's comes from the Cosmic as an inspiration from God, which is , only given to those who the Bible mentions as being selected as "Voiced", ie Tubal.. His voice was truly a musical instrument which I, and countless others, greatly appreciate, thanks to his recordings. In this vane, we must acknowledge also his record producers and his band. I think it is only wise, that others never try to imitate this man, because if they do, they will unfortunately fall very short. That is not to say, that singers should not sing his songs, in homage to his talent. Thanks for reading my thoughts. I am a Canadian, who thinks that all Americans should be truly humbled by what their citizen accomplished in the international community of music, amen.

Roy Acuff sounded a bit worn and torn, and that understandably... but wow that is beautiful at 46:45 Red Foley singing Peace in the Valley..wow that is as perfect as perfect gets. It proves my theory that content always overcomes technology, mono, one track, taped on an antique, it always comes down to talent and musicality. It is a shame he died so young and a miracle the same mixture of drugs and alcohol didn't kill me a dozen times over before I quit them.

I was a few weeks short of 4 years old, and from what I was told later I demanded to go with my mother to the funeral. We stood outside the auditorium in the vestibule. My first, clear memory of any event: The cops cleared a space right in front of us to carry out the women who had fainted in the auditorium, laid them on the marble floor and revived them with smelling salts. Sex, death and resurrection. It made quite an impression on a young boy. Many years later I chatted up Hovie Lister when he was a doorman at the Georgia State Senate and he told me everybody singing on stage was drunk.

It says it under a cut. Here’s the copy pasted part.:
e was awarded the house and their child as well as half of her ex-husband's future royalties on the condition that she never remarry. In 1953, months after Hank Sr.'s death, Williams paid his second wife Billie Jean Jones $30,000 to relinquish the title of "Hank Williams' Widow".
