I played this song on the radio as a DJ in 1976. It was a HUGE hit, both the vocal version in late 1975 which was considered to be a hit from from the TV show and then the instrumental version summer-winter of 1976 (Bicentennial Year!!) became "Nadia's Theme" that went with Nadia Comăneci's win in summer Olympics that year. I was 16 that year and having a BLAST as a AM-FM radio DJ, a job I'd held since I was 14 in 1974. God, I miss the 70's and 80's.
Same here. My girl was 15 and I was 16 in the winter of 1976, the year this came out. I was an AM-FM radio DJ, a job I had during high school for half days and after school as well. This was VERY popular in the winter of 1976 into early spring of 77, the time she and I were most involved. I knew she was 'the one' I wanted the moment I saw her. We were on again off again but mostly on for the two years after that (her choice) But she finally gave me the proverbial heave ho. Later on we had another nice interlude in our early to mid 30's but then that fell through too. But I still think of her every day since to this very day still. And this song always conjures her up to me. I'm 62 now. I wish I had tried harder with her. From our time together I felt she was perfect for me, at least from my angle. Regrets, especially those you can't shake, are a king size punch in the gut. Every day.
