A true gentleman of the sport. I once met Jim Clark very briefly whilst at boarding school in 1962. A school friend's sister was going out with him, and Jim Clark and the sister came to collect my friend at the end of term. I knew who he was as I was an avid motor-racing fan back then and later competed at club level as Clark had done early on. He was just an ordinary guy to all appearances, driving an Austin Cambridge car - as boring a conveyance as one could get in those days. I asked him where he would be racing next and he was happy to talk about his plans for a few moments before he left.
I got to see Stewart, Hill and Surtees race in GP's and other series, but my one regret is i never got to see Jim Clark as he lost his life shortly before i started going to races. he was such a talent. R.I.P.
Great video showing a great driver who was taken from us all long before he should have been. Its a shame that all the idiots on the roads, especially on their mobiles, don't consider that they're not paying attention. It would have been a good laugh though if Jim had taken the reporter around a race track for a few laps!! That would have destroyed his Swiss reserve!!!
my dad had one in 1964 and did hill climbs i have pictures and awards and the steering wheel still robert payne and raymond payne my uncle they had it race tuned they went on holiday to scotland in 1965 with the car i have the pictures
So Jim Cark drives what's basically a souped up family sedan while Lewis Hamilton drives a Pagani Zonda supercar. How times change. A bit of a silly interview but Jim does say which of the other F1 stars of the day he fears the most on the track - G. Hill, Surtees and Gurney.
Silly? 😂😂 Switzerland banned motoracing since the news of Le Mans 1955. Many Swiss might not have known a lot about him or motoracing. There were Swiss F1 drivers (as mentioned Jo Siffert, Silvio Moser, a few others prior) but the one that drew crowds was yet to come: Clay Regazzoni. So not a very popular sport per se.
He carried himself so well he could easily have been a diplomat or a statesman. Rest in peace Jim Clark. You were the very best.
Such a nice guy. Rip Jim.
What a wonderful find this is!!
Thank you.

Very nice had 3 mk 2 mcy 437F ory 242G RDD 229G LOTUS MK2
ray rolled it and rod chapman got the car home on his trailer before he started racing big trucks

The Lotus Cortina was the Zonda of its day. There were very few examples of racing cars for the road back then.
Silly? 😂😂
