- Gaming a search engine URL with Saildocs over Vara HF Winlink to retrieve answers to our insane questions in the middle of the woods with no cell service.

@@TerminalElement Hmm. I like the fact that you can have an email gateway perform a request for you, is there a way to use winlink gateways plus email to send and receive SMS texts?

What frequency and band do you use for winlink, plan on installing the software on my computer and trying it out this weekend. Very cool service non the less, also going to have to look into setup menu’s for the icom 705 which I am running.
I use whichever band I can reach a gateway with, usually 80-20m. That's one of the useful aspects of winlink: there are many people maintaining gateways on the several different bands. Good luck setting up the 705! I want to get that radio someday. Share your results!
