- Skyscraper, very tall, multi - storeyed building. ... The term skyscraper originally applied to buildings of 10 to 20 stories, but by the late 20th century the term was used to describe high-rise buildings of unusual height, generally greater than 40 or 50 storeys.
By the first definition Nairobi has quite a number but by the second definition, the city has a few of them.
All the say, construction of mega - tall buildings is gaining momentum and foreigners investors are taking the lead.

Thank you so much for your support. We are releasing one historical story soon. Already filmed. Stay tuned sir.
Such a good documentary 👊🏿 cheers dude
Oh wow. Very good and well researched presentation. I like the way the narrator sounds a little bit like David Attenborough. Very informative. Nairobi is surely becoming a very great city. Let us all look back and be so glad that things are improving. All large cities operate on apartments especially within the CBD as the city dwellers grow in numbers. All we need truly is green spaces, lots of it, and for the city to be cleaned up, paved, and trees planted in huge numbers. But overall very encouraging. Talking as someone who has not lived in Kenya for nearly twenty years, and soon to be a returnee. Keep posting please. Do lots more around the country too if at all possible.
Please make me understand how one can stay for 20 years without going home.
Excellent filming and narration!

Haters and trolls love these types of headlines.
Kenyan Historian channel makes a video of how the Chinese and Britons are building skyscrapers in Nairobi and names 4 and 1 British. All of a sudden a city that has existed since forever long before theirs becomes a Chinese town in troll's mind. UAE is now allowing foreigners to have full ownership of skyscrapers in Dubai. Americans did not build the Statue of Liberty and buildings everywhere have been designed and funded with foreign money. American architect Adrian Smith also designed Burj Khalifa and Jeddah Tower in Saudi. There is nothing wrong if a Chinese contractor is awarded a tender if 98% of its employees are our people, building it. Our engineers to menials, they are providing employment. There is also the transfer of skills of modern constructions and our people will be soon tendering and delivering in equal measure inside and outside of our country- sisi ni wale wa briefcase companies. Only two of the mentioned projects are foreign-funded. But does it matter? The funding is not a donation but a loan so we basically own it if we are paying for it.

Looking forward to when Kenyans will own these projects. We are happy of the development, but saddened that 90% is foreign owned. Viva KE! We shall be key investors in our country in the future, hopefully! 😁

For us, UA-cam is a medium of communication. Our number one focus is to deliver credible and indepth documentaries on subject matters. So we concentrate much more on research. Getting facts from books, online sources and from experts. Information is always there, it's just how hard you look for it that makes the difference. We hope we have answered your question because even us we are seeking to be better than we are.

Foreign investment is a great way to boost kenyas development and I must agree nairobi's skyscrapers are breath taking. But many foreign investors, all over the world are known for convoluted tax avoidance schemes eg through transfer pricing, profit shifting' not conforming to local labour laws, etc. If UK and other rich nations find it hard to reign and control such investors, how can countries like Kenya manage such exploitation? The final question, therefore is; to what extent does the ordinary kenyan gain from such investment in the short term and long term?
I hope the city Fathers are taking notice of the adjacent road network which is at best wanting..A good network of roads is needed to complete the picture..currently what i see are narrow potholed tracks.
There's no thing called "city fathers". I saw that phrase coined by our media years ago. Why not refer to them as County government members

Let deep pocketed investors' come & build. That is what will bring change.Like the Chinese people have lots of money in savings....if they want to invest it in construction buziness, let them do it.It can only make African cities better & more attractive to foreign investments.
Attractive to your pocket as well??
Finally.
Nothing symbolises human arrogance and social injustices as much as skyscrapers, especially in a nation were most still live in poverty. But most of us are struck by Stockholm syndrome, and get hard or wet (hear the narrator's voice) when we see how good we can imitate the white man, mostly with HIS help which, we should know by now, always comes with a high price to pay. Will we ever grow up?
But y are writing in the white man's language'? We must develop our infrastructure that will attract foreign investments, industrialize and create more jobs
There's poverty in America Europe and Asia too some are even worse than Africa. It's just that they play a good game of hiding the poverty picture of their side
Nailed it😂😂
@@itgamingke What a laughable sentiment, American & European poverty is still 100x better than Kenyan/African poverty and that says a lot about our priorities.
Call me old fashioned. I remember when the IPS building (11 stories?) on Kimathi was one of the tallest buildings and I looked up at it in awe. That was before the Hilton Hotel. I liked that simpler Nairobi!
Your videos are interesting and well produced but why do your strain your accent so artificially...
Great job making! The video transpires the effort you put into making it. Few critics if I may though:
- Most of what Mr. Arabbu says is common knowledge. Either revise your questions or select better specialists to interview or allow specialists to speak in a language they are comfortable with.
- The end of the video lacks a conclusion.

Kenya is developing very fast.I have been gone for 10 years but don’t recognize this country..Happy for Kenyans ,mark it that industrial revolution comes at a price ,mental health issues are going to be on the rise because Kenyans standard of life will be higher and the common kenyan will not be able to afford living in Nairobi or even in Kenya.Welcome to capitalism.!
Better move back to rural homestead and live a self sufficient way of life. All this development is good for the eyes and pockets of those who benefit from them but not for the people.

Development is good if it properly planned. If the idea is to compete who gets to put up the tallest tower, such development is destructive. If nature has to pave way for more concrete and not replaced, such development is destructive. Concrete exudes significant greenhouse signature. Concrete jungles accelerate climate change and for a country like Kenya, that will be painful

Kenya is rising like a nonsense! This is what a conducive environment does. Keep wondering why people complain
Maybe is that overwhelming majority who does not rise that complain? Having a few millionaire and millions of poors is not an index of progress.
