The thing I love 😍 😍 about watching Heraldo in a market is not only an education on bargaining but also the fact it's a "non-native" English speaker bargaining with another "non-native" English speaker... In perfect English... It really inspires a lot of confidence for native English speakers to go adventuring in the backstreet markets you wouldn't usually attempt! All reminds me of a Dutch train journey where the French woman was attempting to converse with the Dutch conductor who then reeled out "can we just speak in English as that would be easier".... Both parties immediately then "hit it off!!"
A lot of people don't realize that its completely normal to bargain in asian culture. It's a norm. You should especially bargain as a tourist cause chances are you're being drastically overpriced.

Hej Harald. Watching your Vietnamese videos makes me one to write my first comment on UA-cam 😄. Thank you for coming back to Vietnam and Bến Thành market. As a Vietnamese, I always advise my foreigner friends not to shop at Bến Thành market because I'm afraid they'll end up paying outrageous price or getting scam. But your videos have changed my mind, not everything is bad! You found some good treasures and met nice people. I'm happy that you had wonderful times there. If you come to Vietnam or Finland next time, I'm happy to take you around! I've been living in Finland for 10 years, I can show the Vietnamese or Finnish side, whichever you prefer to 😅. Wish you a good trip back home and looking forward to your next videos! 😊
I understand this local perspective and would probably advice people the same if I was you. But it's really a tourist attraction in and of itself plus a great place to get a unique souvenir (which I understand from your comment you also may agree with now) 🙂
@@HaraldBaldr ohh thank you for the reply! Of course, it's a tourist place but not as bad as I remembered. And you're right, some items are only available there. I never see any store selling smoking pipe, I thought it's only a Northern thingy. But great that you enjoyed it. In Vietnam, there are also some specialized markets, night markets or floating markets in Mekong delta, which I think you could get good treasures too 👌
Those who are commenting about bargaining, you guys know nothing. Bargaining is normal in these markets else they will charge you 4 - 5 times. Also this guy has traveled the world. He knows what he is doing. Watch his other videos where he has donated thousands for strangers and children in Nepal. Also he is bargaining for content.
Harald I love your videos I have watched since you started youtube. If you don't mind can you send me one of those nortface bag I can snd you the money.
The first and last guy with the bags wasn't messing with you, when he called his boss she said: "Look at the label." he said "I did, there isn't one." she said "It's manufactured / made in the factory, how can it not have a label?" The factory packages and labels them with a recommended resale price, which is likely what they went off. In all honesty the true price of the bag you bought, as it is obviously not really from the luxury brand, was about $10 USD. However, as he is operating a business, the cost of employing and doing business makes the MSRP of about $40 / 40 Euros quite reasonable, which is how much you paid.
Haraldo the market star of Vietnam! Love the atmosphere at those places, with all the willing and dealing going on! Much respect to Harald and the country of Vietnam!🇻🇳
Hello Harald, I am your close follower.I love watching your videos.Whatever you do. I think you're doing your best.👌👌Don't forget that. Those who don't like you are a new 20%, and we are those who love you 80%🍀🍀🍷🍷Greetings from London. Take care of yourself.🤗🤗
Yes you received your change from the shirt lady 22mins in. Great work as always Harald, you have been my favourite vlog adventurer for many years now, top quality content along with being humorous, kind and selfless.
About the bargaining debate I have a couple of points . 1. Harald likes to buy from as many shops to giv as many businesses as possible a sale. 2. He buys to give these items away , he doesn’t have to spend anything if he doesn’t want to.
I've been told before that if anyone wants to go shopping in these types of markets it's best to go to the shops farthest away from any entrances. All the shops that you see right as you go into the building pay a higher rate because they get more eyes on their product. But the shops that are farther away will pay less rent because not as many eyes are on them so they will sell products cheaper. There are lots of same style shops so everyone will compete or "match prices"
It's incredibly demeaning that they are upset for them when the people you are bargaining with and the people from the country are not even upset about it. Acting like the people from the countries you visit are unable to fight their own battles
"Severely depleting my Federal Reserves." Most English speaking citizens wouldn't know what the hell you're talking about, so I love how you inflict these inside jokes on anyone and everyone and they just say "yes" or laugh out of confusion!
I didn’t write that comment but I often talk finance etc with people and most Brits would not get what the Federal Reserve is nor would your average mainland European despite speaking English to a decent standard. Hell there’s plenty of Americans too who I have spoken with who would not know what the federal reserve is. Given that this is the case they certainly would not get this reference in a market situation in Asia
@@HaraldBaldr Having said this, "Federal Reserve" is becoming the default term for my wallet these days. Maybe in time it will become the global term, made so by Harald Baldr? In all seriousness, thank you for elaborating on my original comment!

The bargaining is what makes it fun. laughing about 1k dong discount. I love the interactions in all of Harold's videos. I think the interactions are the main reason I watch him.
Thank you Harald! Your videos are like therapy to me to watch. I've been struggling with addiction and been poor for years now. In two years from now I will be debt free. When I am debt free I will start saving to travel abroad. Your videos make me feel like im free today.
All the best!

Been watching for years. Never gets old 🥇
Amazing you didn’t knock everything over with that backpack ,Tiny little shops for the huge Viking lol. Cool video as always.
Was surprised myself
Haroldo you are teaching me how to bargain as I used to be too shy to do it in my twenties travelling India and Thailand. Now I will be doing this, like you said it’s fun, why not!
Excellent Vietnam Travel Vlog, Danny Approves :) Thank you Harald
In Vietnam, there are also some specialized markets, night markets or floating markets in Mekong delta, which I think you could get good treasures too 👌
Thanks for uploading. Going to love it and I will watch you from Mexico City! 🇲🇽 ❤
I am watching Bro videos since 4 years and I have seen that bro is obsessed with green colour material things😂😂😂
Last guy with the daughter have such a good vibe, and good change to those sea shells, so cool!
I see you have activated gabriel dong spender mode
😂😂😂😂🇺🇸💰💸💵

Harald I love your videos I have watched since you started youtube. If you don't mind can you send me one of those nortface bag I can snd you the money.
I love when Harold goes and blows money with local vendors🙌🏽
Hell yeah! Love this Vietnam series!
Guy in the purse shop is such a kind person. Not so caught up with the sale like you often see. I'm so happy you went back and got something from him!
that shop keeper was hilarious...the only one I've seen that didn't like money lol
The first and last guy with the bags wasn't messing with you, when he called his boss she said:
"Look at the label."
he said "I did, there isn't one."
she said "It's manufactured / made in the factory, how can it not have a label?"
The factory packages and labels them with a recommended resale price, which is likely what they went off. In all honesty the true price of the bag you bought, as it is obviously not really from the luxury brand, was about $10 USD. However, as he is operating a business, the cost of employing and doing business makes the MSRP of about $40 / 40 Euros quite reasonable, which is how much you paid.
A video drop at night , hell yeah 🙌🏼
Haraldo the market star of Vietnam! Love the atmosphere at those places, with all the willing and dealing going on! Much respect to Harald and the country of Vietnam!🇻🇳
I almost choked at 17:35 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Harald you are the best 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Harald's shopping vlogs are always the best lol. Hilarious af. We want more!!!!
You need to bring back “PHUC FLAIR”
About the bargaining debate I have a couple of points . 1. Harald likes to buy from as many shops to giv as many businesses as possible a sale. 2. He buys to give these items away , he doesn’t have to spend anything if he doesn’t want to.
blowing Dongs..Lets get it!
Uhhh i guesss
I've been told before that if anyone wants to go shopping in these types of markets it's best to go to the shops farthest away from any entrances. All the shops that you see right as you go into the building pay a higher rate because they get more eyes on their product. But the shops that are farther away will pay less rent because not as many eyes are on them so they will sell products cheaper. There are lots of same style shops so everyone will compete or "match prices"
Harold”why you no bargain me”😂😂
I love your videos Harald and been watching for years, keep it up bro!!
It's incredibly demeaning that they are upset for them when the people you are bargaining with and the people from the country are not even upset about it. Acting like the people from the countries you visit are unable to fight their own battles
A pround Vietnamese watched your Vietnam videos with a biggest smile here, thank you for amazing content as always!
"Severely depleting my Federal Reserves." Most English speaking citizens wouldn't know what the hell you're talking about, so I love how you inflict these inside jokes on anyone and everyone and they just say "yes" or laugh out of confusion!
why would english speaking people not understand it....
Another amazing series from Harald. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
