I really wish, they did a little more with spiders, both to make them more challenging and worthwhile, maybe spiderqueens, that sit at range and spawn new spiderlings, or larger spiders, that can jump over your formation and target the backline, maybe carry away brothers that are entangled, similar to nachzehrers.
Should have a spiderqueen that sits in a deep part of the forest... and spiderlings drag webbed target closer to the spiderqueen each turn and eventually if you don't free your bro the spiderqueen instant kill your brothers if he's next to her.... wait...... :^)
Spiderqueens should make the other spiders unbreakable.
That way, I can kill them all for those sweet webs and poisons.
I like crafting reinforced nets.
Still getting my ass handed to me by this game but loving every minute. Holy hell, does it eat some hours! Often shocked when what I thought was a 45min sesh was actually 2hrs lol. A lot of good advice in this vid and I've also found that cleavers + decapitate seems quite good vs spiders too. ✌🏻
Is it just me or are his videos always a little low volume?
Bless those spiders' little hearts. You can cleave through hordes of them no issues later on, but right at the start of the game... dodgedodgedodgedodgedodge

I never thought of not fighting spiders in the forest.
I always just fight them wherever they are and cry about the ambush formations whenever it turns bad. Can't do anything about it though, because Ironman.
In my experience, at early game (the only time where the spiders are a threat), it is good to have swords for its high accuracy, rotate to adjust formation when ambushed, and goedendags.
I don't usually use it, but it helped me out a lot specifically against spiders early on.
It can efficiently hit spiders and can usually kill them in one hit.
I just make sure to have my less efficient brothers to support the Goedendag users in breaking webs.
I'm really appreciating all this tips and guide videos. Super helpful. I don't know what your plans are Filthy, (or if you'll read this message!), but if you're taking requests, one area I'm super curious to hear more about is how you approach positioning in fights. How do you decide where to place your guys, how to arrange formations? What is your thought process with each guy when his turn comes up? That sort of thing would be really great.
I try to talk through that on an individual basis in these guide videos. The most basic of these is shields on the front flanks but not the center. I also talk a lot about it in Ancient Undead fight guide (coming soon). If you have more specific questions after that one hits, please feel free to ask and I'll try to clarify.

Hey Filthy. Thanks for showing this game, I'd never heard of it until you started posting vids. Looks like my type of game.
Do you still play Civ 6? I've not bought any DLC and still play vanilla. Wondered what your thoughts on expansions were.
I didn't think the expands changed the game in a way that addressed the core issues I had with it, so no, I don't play Civ 6 atm
