I'm a Western girl and I relate more to the Korean girl lmao. I think this is also personality-based rather than just cultural.
It's actually both, at the end of the day your personal identity is connected with your sense of belonging that is related to your social "web" (relationships) with your family, school, any religious organization, etc. In some cultures family, government and religion play a huge part in ppl development as an individual and as a member of society and that's going to "affect" how you relate to certain topics, and how comfortable you feel talking or living certain scenarios. I'm Mexican and I can relate to both, I know people that are really conservative regarding sex topics because of their religion or their family, and the key is not to judge, respect other's points of view, and do not try to impose the way you think to others, especially if this is violating their rights. At the end of the day I consider sexuality should be discussed from a young age and that we need to see it as something natural as is a normal biological behavior.

I have a similar age gap with my own mother (she was 21) as your son and I think that was great. My parents were young and healthy, could be very active and keep up with me and my sister. Speaking of which, there's only a 13 month gap between me and my sister, so she and I grew up almost like twins. We also have a cousin who we grew up with who was in the middle, so she was like a second sister. That was also great. As a result I have a very strong bond with my family. I hope your family is the same.
I am not sure how is that legally possible. Sexual action before the age of consent regardless of the individual nor a mutual consent, is deemed a criminal act and can be prosecuted in the eye of law (especially from the male aspect - it can be categorised as Sexual assault) . To my knowledge, the youngest age of consent is 16 years old....

I’m from Poland like Suji but I had more common answers with Heejae. Even when your upbringing can make a difference in your experiences, I think it’s more personal than „national”. I also had a sex Education in middle school only

I think it depends on the city and person, family... its different for people from smaller cities as well. But f.ex. my mum talked to me as well about sex before we had it at school (primary school 6th grade). I also think many had sex in high school, although starting later is common too. Everything depends, why so serious
research shows that sex education does not improve the awareness of teenagers, and even spoils this intimate sphere of life.
I think Suji was raised in a very modern and especially open-minded family. I think for most east europeans it doesn't look like that, i don't know anyone who had similar experience.
Not to mention that Poland is still culturaly very conservative.
Poland is changing a lot in this respect. It also depends on where in Poland you live. In big cities people are more open than in the provinces. I know quite a few people like that. And that's how I raised my daughters. Talking about sex, the world, whatever they were interested in is normal and obvious to me. I'm not hiding anything, I'm just adapting to their age

Lol! As a Polish women I must say that in Poland it's like 50/50. Usually most of the kids know a lot about sex from their ,,naughty" friends, but the knowledge isn't always right. One night stand is not popular at all and most of the parents still don't want to talk about sex. So... I would say there are different groups in Poland: the conseravative one, the normal one who treats sex as part of love and the pathological one.

Here in America, the things that are being taught as early as first grade are destroying the culture, and therefore the country. The subject matter is very important.

I'm an Asian Turkic, but I also had the experience of studying in the West. I concluded that it's more up to a person than a culture, coz there are plenty of conservative people in Europe and America and some liberal people in Asia (AFAIN, Japan, China, at least major cities). But I agree that Asian culture is more judgemental about these kinda "sensitive" questions, which is why I'm here with Heejae!
Right. It's true. There are even men in America, Europe, and other parts of the world saving their virginity for their future spouses. I'm 36 and I haven't had it either. I remember getting mocked for it, but who cares if I'm conservative. (I'm from the Phils.) I remember not being interested in guys and sex up until 18-20 years old. I was so different from other girls in my school cause I grew up with three older brothers and their friends so males just weren't interesting to me, nothing new... I have a question. Why do people still have sex? Sex is very gross, nasty, messy, and disgusting! I don't see how sex is a good thing. Why don't humans just remove sex from this world? Women can still get pregnant without sex (there's a lot of ways women can get pregnant without sex including artificial insemination). Sex does cause a lot of problems, so the world might be a much better place without it.

What is wrong with sex education? It is necessary. Even young kids may be abused, but some of them don't know something wrong is going on or don't know what to do when they don't feel comfortable with something what is happening to them.
I bought book 'My body belongs only to me' where is explained that kids don't have to agree to everything what adults want to do to them. My older daughter (5y.o.) knows how to react at least in theory but this is more than nothing.
She also knows basics where the kids are coming from.
And above are basics to start sex education - 1. you are free to set bonderies, 2. your body is unique and important, 3. your body will be able to bring new life one day.

There correlation between marriges before 18 y.o. girls (or even much younger), which are socially accetable in similar places where sex education is not, leaving them unprepared to consious defense against it, but also abuse in and outside marriges, sexual education sounds like pure evil.

Well, this was already invented in Asia, as Kama Sutra is the oldest book/esey (not sure how to name it is English) and includes among the other also well ilustarted chapter about sexual positions. And to be honest I would call it even first sex education coursebook, which treats how build relationships, how sexuality is important in relationships and how to enjoy it in safe way + some theoretical insteuctions together with nice images ^.^

15 is waaaaaaay too young to be having intercourse even by western standards. The people you hear about in school being sexually active at 15 or 16 are very, very few compared to a school population as a whole. They're a drop in the ocean, and they're usually that 1 or 2 students in the whole school year who ends up pregnant, depending on how big the school is.
I went to several high schools because I moved a few times when I was younger, and the pattern is always like this. A random girl and boy (from or outside of the school) want to act older than they really are and then she ends up pregnant. And hormones aren't an excuse, because everyone has free will and it's not as if every 15 year-old out there is sexually active, whether there's sex education or not. And I can see this video is attracting the people who did, because there are comments with such stories in this comment section.
Still, a few individuals' experience doesn't determine the actions of a 10k-14k group of people or less. That's not what a "standard" is.

In NZ the age of consent is 16. Most people are fine and explore it healthily because of our good sex education and openness.

Age of consent and the age of maturity are two different things.
Way too many kids are getting pregnant or an STDs in there early teens, they are not prepared for the long term mental, emotional or physical responsibility that comes with being sexually active.

Sexual education is very important and seeing heejae shocked at knowing at a young age how babies are born and that in Korea they don’t explain it well was really sad, kids should know how babies are born, to prevent from adults abusing of their innocence and to help them be aware, ofc not the details but they’ll learn it anyways cause they start to get curios about their bodies; especially they should know ways to prevent babies from being born because sometimes In the first ten years controlling your hormones is not very easy and sometimes it may happen, you just need to know how to prevent from it being a bigger problem, although I agree that s3x should be done with a patner and at a mature age, I totally respect people who don’t think it the way I do!

Actually it depends on where do u live in Turkey. In the Marmara and Aegean regions, people generally start to have sexual intercourse at the age of 14-16 in recent years, and this is quite normal for many young people.(not for me ofcx xd) There are different types of people in every country. As seen in the comments, many women living in Poland say that they do not actually live like the girl in the video.

It's nothing in comparison with having kid after 35. The risk factor after 15 is very little, once again just in comparison with 30s women, so it's a bit of a dramatization to focus on that. The real problem with teen pregnancy is everything else you mentioned, in those I agree.

In my humble opinion, I think it doesn't depend that much on country or culture. Its rather that in bigger cities people are more open minded, most probably you have a lot more cultures living together. Than in smaller cities people are more conservative. I don't think one or the other is bad. Just don't take it to extreme. Don't do crazy stuff for your own good, while don't be too conservative, which isn't good aswell.
The big cities are obviously bad, just look up single-parent households (common in big cities), the amount of prisoners who fill up jails mostly come from single-parent households, and single-parent households mostly come from epople who are more open-minded about intercourse. Ultimately, it is a bad thing when it comes to societal cohesion.

I am from Europe, but my family is very religious and conservative. I wasn't allowed to date or go out except to school and with parents until I was in the university. I was shocked when my friends had early experiences. I am absolutely not against that and would never judge. I am just thinking it depends more on the person and their environment for certain things. You can look at the average age of having sex for the first time. It usually a lot lower in the western countries. You might want to look into Scandinavian countries. It around 15 lol.
Western countries have sex very early compared to conservative countries. STD rates are very high as well
Sex Ed is an important conversation, the reason South Korea is very conservative on this issue is because it is over populated, consider the geographical size of the country as the same as Ohio in the USA and it has a population of 11 million. Therefore the conservative approach to sexual activity is probably a good idea for South Korea - where other countries can absorb the population growth. Overpopulated? They are currently having a HUGE problem with not enough babies being born. In 2021, there were only 6.89 babies being born per 1000 people, placing them at number 2 of the lowest birth rates in the world. They may have a lot of people now, but they will lose A LOT very soon as the older generation dies off and is not replaced with enough people in the younger generation.

The American Christian, moral culture has been destroyed since the late 60's, and it happening by design, mostly in public schools. One of the two ways to destroy a country from within in to destroy the culture. The past 20+ years children are indoctrinated from 4th grade, and now it extends to kindergarten. Sex isn't supposed to be a recreational activity unless one is married, or plan to be.

I think there might be a problem with how the west is perceived through people moving to different countries. Generally people doing that are high in openness to begin with, there are more than enough even more conservative people in Europe and the US. (Btw nobody should be ashamed to be conservative or progressive, especially concerning sex, as long as you don't force your views on others) They aren't the ones appearing on a show made in Korea though.

(I'm from Europe too) Like I totally get it, that all people are different, but like there should be some limits, norms, otherwise how are we different from animals?! There is an age for everything, teen pregnancy should not be considered something normal, neither should be middle school sex.

In Australia, I had sex education as part of the school curriculum in final (7th) year of primary school (Grade 6). (Though it was purely about biology as I went to a Catholic Primary school). This included an after school presentation on the 'birds & bees', which we had to attend with our parents. Afterwards my Dad stated, he believed it had something to do with the arrows...lol...😜

In the United States it definitely starts before highschool. Not for everyone, like for me it wasn't until I was 16 that I lost my v card, but in middle it definitely happened quite a bit. Before I went to highschool there was even 3 girls who got pregnant at my middle school. I respect cultures view but sexual education is super important, like that should start in middle school. The western girl mentioned 5th grade, which is the same for me, but that was more so a video about what you're going to experience when your hormones hit full on, not so much sexual education. When hormones are hiting like a truck for the first time (mainly middle school) I feel like that is when sexual education about things like tampons, condoms, STDs, hormones, and what not are important discussions to have because at that age you're so new to it but stuff like that is all around you.
