He never genuinely hurt his family if you pay attention, but anyone else is fair game. Younger sibling energy for sure. A dick to everyone, but secretly a ride or die for family.
After seeing Daemon and Viserys were getting along again I actually thought this was gonna be lighter but this is the HEAVIEST episode of the series yet. The director of the episode Clare Kilner said that it was important when she was filming the sex scenes to shoot them from the right point of view. She said she wanted them to be from the woman’s point of view where people were enjoying themselves and freeing themselves from the constraints of the world they’d been living in.
I do think most including myself knew that was coming between Damon and Rhaenyra but i was enjoying seeing the shock on your faces. Your reaction was enjoyable. This show is amazing and I love how it sticks to the books and doesn't shy away from anything. Seeing how this happens in the Targaryen line it didn't bother me. As someone said in the comment below Dameon gets what Daemon wants. I love how that scene shows both viewpoints to Alicent and Rhaenrya. Alicent being forced in this situation while Rhaenrya willingly giving into it. Great writing and acting.
Your missing the point of that scene... Daemon is trying to steal the iron throne from Queen Alicents son by sleeping with Rhaenyra and creating a true royal heir but his guilt makes him stop. Rhaenyra in her inexperience and excitement, forces Cristan Cole to sleep with her - causing problems later on with her heir and claims to the throne.
@@centripetal6157 The entire reason Criston Cole is at court is to seduce and deflower Rhaenyra through Hightower's scheming. Believe me, he doesn't give a damn about her, he is a fantastic actor with everyone at court, including the audience, apparently.
OMG... I noticed a few things... 1. Viserys dont give AF about Alicent kids and dont even consider them " his blood" he called them " Otto's blood". 2. Alicent was really WEIRD.. like she was so angry about Rhaneyra not being a maiden and I honestly think its because Rhaneyra is having a hot dragon summer screwing all these young, virile sexy men and Alicent is over their stuck having sex with an old king with lesions on his body that makes her go drier than SAND.. lol.. so she was pissed because Rhaneyra is living her best life and ALicent is suffering and on top of it she has NO ONE.. I absolutely agree with you in the reason of why Daemon stoped, I truly think that he was going to go until the end, but his conscience spoke louder. Can’t wait to see more hot and steamy scenes between Daemon and Rhanyera, because from now on, their scenes will be 🔥🔥🔥🔥
According to the show runners at the end of the episode, Dameon stopped because he couldn’t physically do it. Like in the first episode when he tried to sleep with the prostitute and couldn’t finish. In the case of this episode the reason they gave was kinda in line with what you said that he actually cares for her.
lol according to actress interview i would say alicent was just really care and worried and even jealous because rhaneyra f someone. she IS rhaneyras best friend in this show, which is differ from book.
This episode was pure seed planting, a lot of actions from today's episode are going to have huge repercussions in the future: Rhaneyra has agreed to wed, Otto has been ousted from the Hand of the King position so he'll step up his plans, Alicent is growing jealous/tired of Rhaneyra and the fact that she'll be the next ruler and not her son, Damon has the hot for her niece, and sooner or later he'll be back for her, and the King just realized how much he's been played.
Daemon is more interested in stealing the iron throne from Queen Alicents son by sleeping with Rhaenyra and producing a male Targaryan heir. He doesn't have romantic feelings for Rhaenyra at this point.

A scene I loved that seems to have gone over a lot of heads is when Cole folds his cloak and gently places it down while looking at it sadly. This is because that white cloak symbolizes his oath to the kings guard, which he is about to break.

no one seems to catch it but Daemon's Mistress Mysiera (the white worm) was also plotting and playing the game with her little birds. I dont know where her true allegiance is by sending that kid to Otto. It just much complex.
Daemon set it all up. He wanted everyone to see the affair with Rhaenyra - this way it would force a marriage as Rhaenyra was "damaged goods" and most lords would not want her in marriage. This is why his girlfriend sent the boy to "spy" on the affair and spread rumors... It was all a plan to steal the throne away from Queen Alicent and create a Targaryen child of pure royal blood with Rhaenyra. However Daemon could not use Rhaenyra due to his guilt over manipulating family. This is why Daemons girlfriend says she "had his best interests" after he failed to sleep with Rhaenyra

Ser Otto may have told the (most of the) truth to King Viserys, but its pretty clear to everone that he's telling Viserys out of self interest rather than to be a good Hand of the King.
Exactly he may of told the truth but it was not for the kings best interest but his own and rhenerya opened her father's eyes to that truth even if it was just to save her own ass.
I'm glad Viserys was actual bring smart for once. He finally realized that if Otto had enough spies to follow Rhaenyra than he definitely knew about Alicent seeing him and spending time with him. Which on its own is indecent to send an unmarried young women along into the king's chambers

The two young men who fought in front of Rhaenyra were from Houses Bracken and Blackwood who had an ancient feud hence the ott heckling that ended in a brutal slaughter.
This was by far the best episode of the series so far. SO good. Amazing sound design, especially during that middle segment when they were in the city. Wow!
But viserys was right , many readers believe otto/hightowers and the maesters were responsible for baelon(viserys father ) and aemon( rhaenys queen who never was father) dead.
Reminds me of the theory I heard that the masters all over the realm had been slowly poisoning the dragons and etc. so magic would go away and the Targaryens would lose power
The tea at the end is such a catch 22. If she drinks it then she's admitting to not being a maiden anymore, but if not things could arrive and also prove she isn't a maiden anymore.

Daemon is sooo clever and diabolical and this was a masterplan. As much as he likes rhaenyra and his intentions were true with her, he made it look like it happened with rhaenyra and knew that the rumor would start( he takes her cap away letting to reveal her true self, thousands could have seen/known her). Eventually when she walked out the kid sees her (kinda loved the callback to varys lil birds) and goes to Otto. In my opinion it feels like Damon knew getting this rumor to Otto would set things in motion. His plan worked when the king ends up questioning why Otto was spying on her in the first place. Beyond that scene, rhaenyra projects the same thoughts and it solidifies the opinion about Otto for Viscerys. The way rhaenyra challenges Viscerys is similar to how daemon pushes his buttons so when she gives in to wed laenor valareyon and asks him to "DO HIS DUTY" as a king, Ottogotogo. In my mind this was allll daemons plan. I could be 💯 wrong but I also felt he was feeling the guilt of using rhaenyra for this and thats why he walked out.
Milly's acting through the love scene is ON POINT. the playful foreplay, the "omg wtf is this feeling", and "come on in, and take me again!" the morning after. her face going from :0 to :D when Criston shows up, is exactly how a girl would react when that happens. how do I know? because I was Criston once as well XD

This episode was intense. I’m in shock of the performance from everyone especially Milly Alcock, I will go the lengths of saying that I’m more invested in this than GoT. And I feel like this show is darker than GoT as well. I mean the next episode will be pretty insane because the decline of viserys and daemon doing what he did. It’s actually going to hurt watching the jump and seeing milly go. Emma has shoes to fill.
I was cheering Rhaenyra on as she was gettin her some Sir Criston Cole! SHE chose who she gave her Maidenhood too. She didn't lose it to rape or a crusty old dude. That's a win in the GoT world.
Did you really not understand the subtext behind that scene? She really didn't chose. She was ready to give her maidenhood to Daemon after that little seducing, but he bailed out. She was using Cole for her needs, that's about it. It's probably going to end up badly as Cole develops romantic feelings for her, and when he realizes the truth, he will probably have deep resentment for her.
It's GRRM. I know he get's a lot of shit for taking for long... but it is undeniable the man is a master story teller and having his eye directly on this just shows his importance.
I have to give it to Viserys in this episode, he did not fire Otto until he went after his daughter. Yes, Reahnyra bartered for it, but Viserys listed many more reasons why he is getting the boot. He is not stupid, more like confrontation avoider until pushed hard. He was the best for me here. Thanks for sharing guys, I hope you did not regret to react to this, I remember you being in question about this show!:)
Paddy is so good in the role, he has shown so many sides to the character of Viserys it's been great! In the end he did know that realistically the only person sending Alicent to his room to "console him" was Otto. Alicent didn't just say "hey Dad you think it's okay I go to this old mans room (the King no less) to see if I can help him through the grief of his dead wife?". I mean he didn't stop it happening, but understands the context along with everything else. Viserys has been vulnerable, likable, strong, weak and everything else all in a few short episodes. Fair play to everyone involved I'm hooked!
I think a blackfyre show would tie in directly with house of the dragon conclusion and lead directly into the original Game of Thrones series. It would be a nice series to end the GOT universe on.

Spotted your message at 18:27 and I don't think Otto knew if they did it or not. The spy went as far as the brothel door because as a child, he couldn't enter without being spotted. So I think Otto added the part of them having sex to further his plan of ensuring Aegon gets to the thrown. Which leads me to double down on the notion that Daemon never said "Heir for a Day" like Otto reported, I think either someone else made the comment and Otto said Daemon said it, or nothing of the sort was said he just created the lie on the fly. Either way, he wasn't telling the truth, he just overstepped this lie and caused his dominoes to fall out of place.
This episode was willlldd. Watching the show you can tell that everyone working in it, cast and crew, LOVE what they're doing. They love their work, and love their characters. I hate to bring up GOT season 8 again but with that season you could just tell and feel their passion and love for the show was gone, both cast and crew just felt like they were done with it. Though with HOTD it feels like that love and care is back:)
I see now why George RR Martin's favorite Targaryen is Daemon. He is such a enigma, just when you thought you have him all figured out, he shows another side of him that is entirely different. Episode 1 we saw him as some arrogant, entitled prince. Episode 2 showed him as treasonous and childish. Episode 3 showed him being petty and badass. Episode 4 now shows us how he truly value his house, his brother and his niece. I think he didn't continued with Rhaenyra because he knew it was wrong, and defiling his niece wasn't the right way to achieve his goal. So he straight forward asked his brother to wed them, for their house. I also liked the detail of conflict you see in Otto before entering Viserys's chamber. He knew he was going to get in trouble, but he was in conflict with his duty and his plans. Also, I thing Alicent is a bit jealous of the freedom Rhaenyra gets to enjoy while she's stuck in the castle room as a baby maker or a real life sex toy.
Alicent is worried that Rhaenyra will have a pure Targaryen child and steal the iron throne away from her son ... Which is why Alicent gets so angry at Rhaenyra for sleeping around and keeps repeating that Rhaenyra is a "virgin" Allicent wants her son to be king. Rhaenyra having a child threatens that.

Also anyone else feel like there’s more to this Otto situation?? I still find it odd that in the previous episode we were introduced to Ottos brother, the only scene he’s been in. And it was where he told Otto that it was up to him to ensure that Aegon is named heir. And he was mentioned in this episode again, giving Otto information. Otto is clearly a conspirator, but I feel Daemon and Viserys isn’t the only brother drama going on and we just aren’t being shown everything.
They did enough to be inappropriate, but not enough to satisfy. Hence, the way she acted when she got back to her room. Daemon preheated the oven, but didn't stick in the turkey.
I'm finally watching the after show review + breakdown and I really like what you said about the way it was shot and when carnal desires have consequences.
This show is rolling right along but yet has us so invested in only 4 episodes. Top notch work by all involved. Everyone is a grey character, which makes this so intriguing. Ser Criston was definitely taken advantage of. While she was taking Daemon’s advice and doing what she wanted, she wouldn’t face near the repercussions that he would. She doesn’t think about many others but herself as pointed out by Daemon telling her that she should care what others think. Still, good on her for getting down with two of the hottest guys in Westeros. Daemon is chaos and he’s going to hold our attention every time he is on the screen. If only Viserys could have got out of his denial sooner.

Daemon burned his bridge with King Viserys thanks to Otto "heir for a day" rumor. He is turning Otto's spying trick to his own advantage in this episode. He pretended to be intimate with Rhaenrya knowing very well Otto's birds are watching their every move. As a result Daemon ruined Rhaenrya reputation, created conflict between Rhaernrya and King Viserys and place her position in jeopardy. He also turned Viserys against Otto that resulted him being removed as the king's personal council. That leaves King Viserys very vulnerable with a four year old Prince Aegon as the potential replacement.

He's got nothing to lose as far as his relationship with King Viserys goes. There is much to gain to create conflict among Visery, Rhaernrya and Otto, the 3 obstacles preventing him from sitting in that throne.

Daemon seems to be very chaotic, he doesn't respect royalties, but one thing I'm sure, he was saying the truth when he said that he wanted to give the House of the Dragon it's proper glory, he seems to be loyal to his brother and really want to his family to thrive, but he's not cautious and is very undisciplined.
Love your reaction as usual! I was so scared for general audiences with this episode. If it would be too much, but I loved your discussion at the end, so thoughtful! Something else to keep in mind, Viserys married his cousin, Aemma, Viserys' parents were siblings, so were his grandparents, and Laenor is Rhaenyra's cousin. The rest of the realm practices cousin marriage, and even aunt/nephew and niece/uncle parings to an extent. Daemons proposal makes a certain sense. It would finally put him in one place once and for all, and with a good hand to keep him in check as consort to Rhaenyra would it really have been the worst option if this had been gone about in another way?

you are used probably to bad writing bcs this would be a stupid plan. they(viserys and rhaenyra) can literally talk about this the very next day and come to the conclusion that viserys didnt send it. otto is not that stupid and the maester is just not a stupid puppet. the king send it thats it and this will stay between them. stop trying to push bad writing
Paddy Considine and Milly Alcock are fantastic in every scene they appear in. Matt Smith is also a stand out, but i believe that Paddy and Milly are carrying this show
I'm LOVING this show, but words cannot even begin to describe how nervous I am about the age up of Rhaenyra. Milly Alcock has been phenomenal in this role. I know Emma D'arcy is a great actress, but I'm still SO worried about how this upcoming switch is going to effect the character relations. Fingers crossed it will feel good!

@@dajointcf4803 of course its necessary for the story, doesn't mean it doesn't make me nervous. I worry because we have all this time associating with Milly's portrayal of Rhaenyra and Emma D'arcy may not feel the same in the role, even if she gives a great performance.
I mean, Emma was the actress that was cast first for the role of Rhaenyra, Milly was only cast after Emma and based on Emma, so I wouldn’t be that worried about it, they clearly trust Emma’s performance and as you said Emma is a great actress.
I didnt really find the scene with Rhaenyra and Ser Criston all that sweet. Maybe I’m reading into it but it felt like she was taking advantage of her power over him to coerce him. He looked sad during it all, like he was just doing what his princess wanted. Plus, isn’t he betraying an chastity oath as a white cloak (or am I misremembering it?) Edit: I’m sure there was some attraction there, and perhaps it was just guilt about the oath not sadness… but I’m really worried about many people’s understanding of consent in the replies. He could have left any time? She’s literally the princess. Even if he wanted to be there, acting like him rejecting her wouldn’t have serious consequences is naïve.
That's exactly how it felt. I don't understand how people see it as romantic, when it's pretty much the Game of Thrones equivalent of the biblical David and Bathsheba story. It was a bad move on her part, as I'm sure it will backfire later.

After seeing Daemon and Viserys were getting along again I actually thought this was gonna be lighter but this is the HEAVIEST episode of the series yet. The director of the episode Clare Kilner said that it was important when she was filming the sex scenes to shoot them from the right point of view. She said she wanted them to be from the woman’s point of view where people were enjoying themselves and freeing themselves from the constraints of the world they’d been living in.
Just wait until next episode. pretty sure Viserys will die within one or two episodes. That’s when the civil war between the family begins.

I do think most including myself knew that was coming between Damon and Rhaenyra but i was enjoying seeing the shock on your faces. Your reaction was enjoyable. This show is amazing and I love how it sticks to the books and doesn't shy away from anything. Seeing how this happens in the Targaryen line it didn't bother me. As someone said in the comment below Dameon gets what Daemon wants. I love how that scene shows both viewpoints to Alicent and Rhaenrya. Alicent being forced in this situation while Rhaenrya willingly giving into it. Great writing and acting.

Your missing the point of that scene... Daemon is trying to steal the iron throne from Queen Alicents son by sleeping with Rhaenyra and creating a true royal heir but his guilt makes him stop.
Rhaenyra in her inexperience and excitement, forces Cristan Cole to sleep with her - causing problems later on with her heir and claims to the throne.

OMG... I noticed a few things... 1. Viserys dont give AF about Alicent kids and dont even consider them " his blood" he called them " Otto's blood". 2. Alicent was really WEIRD.. like she was so angry about Rhaneyra not being a maiden and I honestly think its because Rhaneyra is having a hot dragon summer screwing all these young, virile sexy men and Alicent is over their stuck having sex with an old king with lesions on his body that makes her go drier than SAND.. lol.. so she was pissed because Rhaneyra is living her best life and ALicent is suffering and on top of it she has NO ONE.. I absolutely agree with you in the reason of why Daemon stoped, I truly think that he was going to go until the end, but his conscience spoke louder. Can’t wait to see more hot and steamy scenes between Daemon and Rhanyera, because from now on, their scenes will be 🔥🔥🔥🔥
According to the show runners at the end of the episode, Dameon stopped because he couldn’t physically do it. Like in the first episode when he tried to sleep with the prostitute and couldn’t finish. In the case of this episode the reason they gave was kinda in line with what you said that he actually cares for her.

This episode was pure seed planting, a lot of actions from today's episode are going to have huge repercussions in the future: Rhaneyra has agreed to wed, Otto has been ousted from the Hand of the King position so he'll step up his plans, Alicent is growing jealous/tired of Rhaneyra and the fact that she'll be the next ruler and not her son, Damon has the hot for her niece, and sooner or later he'll be back for her, and the King just realized how much he's been played.

A scene I loved that seems to have gone over a lot of heads is when Cole folds his cloak and gently places it down while looking at it sadly. This is because that white cloak symbolizes his oath to the kings guard, which he is about to break.

Daemon set it all up. He wanted everyone to see the affair with Rhaenyra - this way it would force a marriage as Rhaenyra was "damaged goods" and most lords would not want her in marriage.
This is why his girlfriend sent the boy to "spy" on the affair and spread rumors... It was all a plan to steal the throne away from Queen Alicent and create a Targaryen child of pure royal blood with Rhaenyra. However Daemon could not use Rhaenyra due to his guilt over manipulating family.
This is why Daemons girlfriend says she "had his best interests" after he failed to sleep with Rhaenyra

I was like the "I am uncomfortable" dog meme throughout the episode.
Daemon is sooo clever and diabolical and this was a masterplan. As much as he likes rhaenyra and his intentions were true with her, he made it look like it happened with rhaenyra and knew that the rumor would start( he takes her cap away letting to reveal her true self, thousands could have seen/known her). Eventually when she walked out the kid sees her (kinda loved the callback to varys lil birds) and goes to Otto. In my opinion it feels like Damon knew getting this rumor to Otto would set things in motion. His plan worked when the king ends up questioning why Otto was spying on her in the first place. Beyond that scene, rhaenyra projects the same thoughts and it solidifies the opinion about Otto for Viscerys. The way rhaenyra challenges Viscerys is similar to how daemon pushes his buttons so when she gives in to wed laenor valareyon and asks him to "DO HIS DUTY" as a king, Ottogotogo. In my mind this was allll daemons plan. I could be 💯 wrong but I also felt he was feeling the guilt of using rhaenyra for this and thats why he walked out.

Paddy is so good in the role, he has shown so many sides to the character of Viserys it's been great! In the end he did know that realistically the only person sending Alicent to his room to "console him" was Otto. Alicent didn't just say "hey Dad you think it's okay I go to this old mans room (the King no less) to see if I can help him through the grief of his dead wife?". I mean he didn't stop it happening, but understands the context along with everything else. Viserys has been vulnerable, likable, strong, weak and everything else all in a few short episodes. Fair play to everyone involved I'm hooked!

Spotted your message at 18:27 and I don't think Otto knew if they did it or not. The spy went as far as the brothel door because as a child, he couldn't enter without being spotted. So I think Otto added the part of them having sex to further his plan of ensuring Aegon gets to the thrown. Which leads me to double down on the notion that Daemon never said "Heir for a Day" like Otto reported, I think either someone else made the comment and Otto said Daemon said it, or nothing of the sort was said he just created the lie on the fly. Either way, he wasn't telling the truth, he just overstepped this lie and caused his dominoes to fall out of place.

I see now why George RR Martin's favorite Targaryen is Daemon. He is such a enigma, just when you thought you have him all figured out, he shows another side of him that is entirely different. Episode 1 we saw him as some arrogant, entitled prince. Episode 2 showed him as treasonous and childish. Episode 3 showed him being petty and badass. Episode 4 now shows us how he truly value his house, his brother and his niece. I think he didn't continued with Rhaenyra because he knew it was wrong, and defiling his niece wasn't the right way to achieve his goal. So he straight forward asked his brother to wed them, for their house.
I also liked the detail of conflict you see in Otto before entering Viserys's chamber. He knew he was going to get in trouble, but he was in conflict with his duty and his plans. Also, I thing Alicent is a bit jealous of the freedom Rhaenyra gets to enjoy while she's stuck in the castle room as a baby maker or a real life sex toy.
Alicent is worried that Rhaenyra will have a pure Targaryen child and steal the iron throne away from her son ... Which is why Alicent gets so angry at Rhaenyra for sleeping around and keeps repeating that Rhaenyra is a "virgin"
Allicent wants her son to be king. Rhaenyra having a child threatens that.

Also anyone else feel like there’s more to this Otto situation?? I still find it odd that in the previous episode we were introduced to Ottos brother, the only scene he’s been in. And it was where he told Otto that it was up to him to ensure that Aegon is named heir. And he was mentioned in this episode again, giving Otto information. Otto is clearly a conspirator, but I feel Daemon and Viserys isn’t the only brother drama going on and we just aren’t being shown everything.

This show is rolling right along but yet has us so invested in only 4 episodes. Top notch work by all involved.
Everyone is a grey character, which makes this so intriguing.
Ser Criston was definitely taken advantage of. While she was taking Daemon’s advice and doing what she wanted, she wouldn’t face near the repercussions that he would. She doesn’t think about many others but herself as pointed out by Daemon telling her that she should care what others think. Still, good on her for getting down with two of the hottest guys in Westeros.
Daemon is chaos and he’s going to hold our attention every time he is on the screen.
If only Viserys could have got out of his denial sooner.

Daemon burned his bridge with King Viserys thanks to Otto "heir for a day" rumor. He is turning Otto's spying trick to his own advantage in this episode. He pretended to be intimate with Rhaenrya knowing very well Otto's birds are watching their every move. As a result Daemon ruined Rhaenrya reputation, created conflict between Rhaernrya and King Viserys and place her position in jeopardy. He also turned Viserys against Otto that resulted him being removed as the king's personal council. That leaves King Viserys very vulnerable with a four year old Prince Aegon as the potential replacement.

I think he couldn't do it because he knew it wasn't right AND because he lost control of the situation. He thought it would shock Rhaenyra. Instead she was into it.

Daemon seems to be very chaotic, he doesn't respect royalties, but one thing I'm sure, he was saying the truth when he said that he wanted to give the House of the Dragon it's proper glory, he seems to be loyal to his brother and really want to his family to thrive, but he's not cautious and is very undisciplined.
Love your reaction as usual! I was so scared for general audiences with this episode. If it would be too much, but I loved your discussion at the end, so thoughtful! Something else to keep in mind, Viserys married his cousin, Aemma, Viserys' parents were siblings, so were his grandparents, and Laenor is Rhaenyra's cousin. The rest of the realm practices cousin marriage, and even aunt/nephew and niece/uncle parings to an extent. Daemons proposal makes a certain sense. It would finally put him in one place once and for all, and with a good hand to keep him in check as consort to Rhaenyra would it really have been the worst option if this had been gone about in another way?

you are used probably to bad writing bcs this would be a stupid plan. they(viserys and rhaenyra) can literally talk about this the very next day and come to the conclusion that viserys didnt send it. otto is not that stupid and the maester is just not a stupid puppet. the king send it thats it and this will stay between them. stop trying to push bad writing

I'm LOVING this show, but words cannot even begin to describe how nervous I am about the age up of Rhaenyra. Milly Alcock has been phenomenal in this role. I know Emma D'arcy is a great actress, but I'm still SO worried about how this upcoming switch is going to effect the character relations. Fingers crossed it will feel good!
i mean they have to do it... there is no way milly can pass for a woman who has 5 adult kids not to mention at some point there will be a major time jump and rhaenyra not aging would be wierd
@@dajointcf4803 of course its necessary for the story, doesn't mean it doesn't make me nervous. I worry because we have all this time associating with Milly's portrayal of Rhaenyra and Emma D'arcy may not feel the same in the role, even if she gives a great performance.

I mean, Emma was the actress that was cast first for the role of Rhaenyra, Milly was only cast after Emma and based on Emma, so I wouldn’t be that worried about it, they clearly trust Emma’s performance and as you said Emma is a great actress.

I didnt really find the scene with Rhaenyra and Ser Criston all that sweet. Maybe I’m reading into it but it felt like she was taking advantage of her power over him to coerce him. He looked sad during it all, like he was just doing what his princess wanted. Plus, isn’t he betraying an chastity oath as a white cloak (or am I misremembering it?)
Edit: I’m sure there was some attraction there, and perhaps it was just guilt about the oath not sadness… but I’m really worried about many people’s understanding of consent in the replies. He could have left any time? She’s literally the princess. Even if he wanted to be there, acting like him rejecting her wouldn’t have serious consequences is naïve.
That's exactly how it felt. I don't understand how people see it as romantic, when it's pretty much the Game of Thrones equivalent of the biblical David and Bathsheba story. It was a bad move on her part, as I'm sure it will backfire later.

He definitely felt guilt but he also gave into temptation.
He wasn't sad I think, it was guilt of giving up on his oath and the guilt that he actually wanted her and he is giving into it.
