What's with all the haters yelling at Jimmy for a semi-sharp saw blade? Geez-Louise people, the man just made two benches from a deadfall pine, some rough-cut maple (?) legs and a few screws with just a chainsaw and a couple of drills. He was cool enough to film the whole thing and edit it together in his awesome way and post it. Let's all say, "Thanks for sharing, Jimmy!" and wait for the next installment. Man, it's bedtime here... Josh...out.
I see a lot of ppl thinking the chain needs sharpened . I see clearly the chain is sharp its just difficult to rip a log with a chainsaw . you put a lot of work in to those benches. thanks for a great video now I am going to find a downed tree and make my wife a bench:)
You ever been out in the bush cutting wood? My dad used to take us out getting firewood for up to 6 hours at a time. Our safety gear consisted of snowsuits and boots because we were trudging through knee deep snow. On average we would be hauling out a 1/2 ton truck full of 8 foot logs, stacked higher than the cab.
its not the volts that determine the power of a drill, its the watts. and basicly every drill is suitable for boring holes in a log, some drills are not strong enough to do it at once with such a big drill bit, but then you just start with a smaller one and keep increasing in bit size. just make sure your battery has a good charge
Wow! You!! Jimmy!!! You are a magician! Genius! You did that with a dull blade (apparently they say its dull I don't see it but yeah.) I can barely make a paper plane. Wow! As for the haters, lets see you do the same with a chainsaw, axe & a drill with 2 bits. You haters can't even distinguish between your & you're. Sheesh.
Maybe you should make a disclaimer on how you ruff cut the wood lengths for the bench legs, holding the wood off the ground with your foot. Some idiot might just separate his toes from the rest of him doing it the same way you did.
I like your video's, watched lots and think you do a good job at a lot of things. Also like these saw horses / benches ...w/e you want to call them. Just the log rip in half alone, you could have stopped... filed the chain... and finished the cut... FASTER than continuing with it dull. Everything else, love it. To the haters saying use safety gear... warn ppl about their toes, etc... bleh. Let the badass do his thing! This isn't some hard-hat job site safety meeting, if he fks up it'll be on video and if you mimic him and fk up come back and post about it.
Alright, if you tell me you made that hot tub also then I'm throwing my tools away and finding something else to do... ;) or maybe I'll try and build a hot tub...
His "magic" is normally made in a shop with access to thousands of specialty tools. He used an axe, a chainsaw, and a drill with 2 bits. How is that not magic?
kind sir....you broke the number 1 lumberjack rule of chainsawing..and that is never to start a chainsaw with out a creepy beard and hat....consult the manual... good day!
There's no need for that if he's going to dig into the soil with it again as he did when he was cutting the branch for the legs. What a way to ruin a chainsaw.

Come, get your three in one tool! It chops, it sands, and it measures! Heck, this thing is so useful, it could probably watch your kids for you!

Thank You for the kind words! you're a classy guy. and thank you for the support!

Glad to see that Jimmy DiResta is out of that dark basement in NYC.
The best part is not that it's home made, but look's so beautifully makeshift
Thank you all. Yes need sharper blade.
Good job, people talking about chain dullness likely cant even start a chainsaw, much less file a chain.Keep doing your thing.
I want this guy with me if I'm ever lost on an island or inside a forest.
He'll make an original piece of furniture out of you.
Forget the chain being dull. Hell im more suprised that the poulan saw managed to do that much cutting much less start after a couple pulls.
Simplicity at its best!
Those would be perfect around a fire-pit as well...maybe throw some backs for more comfort? Very cool.
i did approximatley the same proces for a triple hanger last week... i'm proud of my work
Nice. I have a crap chainsaw but I have become quite good with it. You have to adapt to the tools you own.
Very cool! You could always just get a Rockwell Jawhorse with the log attachment.

I've cut some wood with a saw and I've also googled chainsaw accidents. Safety is no accident!
Reminds me I got to trim the jungle hedge this weekend.........Hedge trimmer doesn't work on it, but chainsaw does.

I want to try that now... Pretty nice looking easy benches... also..
Eggs (we making breakfast i think)
Beautiful!
yea such rustic benches next to the jacuzzi (or whatever that is hot tub or something...) looks great...still good project
Nothing like building furniture with a chainsaw, an axe, and your eye ball. :)
you need to take a file to that saw! what did you use to figure out the angle for the legs?
I see many people getting stuck to you're pine bench in the future haha
your chain is dull....
true
How do you see?
Claus Bertels a dull chain will give off fine dust a sharp chain will give off fine shreddings
that is correct
You have some pretty darn big mosquitos in that forest, LOL!
you are my hero!
Nice ... As always
This is uploaded on my 12th birthday
Why isn the "DiResta" stencil airbrush on the chainsaw?
What size bit are you using to drill your holes?
So that I know what drill would be suitable for boring holes in a log.
How many volts does your drill put out?
Do you cut your steak with that thing too?
I LOVE IT!!!!
I dare anyone to listen to the audio while watching this video and keep a straight face. :)
You make it look easy.....and fast.......
Because it was in fast forward...
DiResta!
Thanks, this was helpful.
Or a Jonsered. I have a hefty Jons. Cuts through pine like a hot knife through soft butter.
I think I would probably still put a cross member between the legs on each end, even if it's only some hemp or jute twine.
Munchkin carpentry, excellent!
U r brilliant it looks cool
I just found my next project!
He uses two drills, the orange one looks like an impact driver.
Chain is dull as spoon. Otherwise - great job. I would not be using screws though, it seems to me that just hammered in legs would do just fine.
SAVE THE TREES
And he did it in 4 mins
Nice but my neighbor has a bench with a hinge on both halves that opens as a backrest.
Safety gear is for people who - A: aren't careful and aware -B: have no respect for their tools -or C: aren't experienced enough.
NICE !
Webster's dictionary definition of "Man" brought me here
Maybe you should make a disclaimer on how you ruff cut the wood lengths for the bench legs, holding the wood off the ground with your foot. Some idiot might just separate his toes from the rest of him doing it the same way you did.
I'm disappointed that the chainsaw didn't have DIRESTA painted on it.
Who need file files when you have a chain saw !
How does he make all that money :o
The size is fine, it just needs to be sharpened.
Best move 2:38 - 2:50
The black and decker one
Nice 4000 series Jacuzzi
next time we make the jacuzzi
Michael Myers would be proud.
those fast forwarded noises are funny hehe
Real men use Chainsaws to sand wood, not sand paper XD
Plot twist: He built the hot tub out of old soda bottles and a few bricks.
Yeah!!
i dont remember seeing that in the chainsaw manual...
love fast video

Well, that escalated quickly.
I was starting to go through video withdrawal !
Gosh damn is there nothing you guys can't build
Sharpen that bloody chain
i know right
Looks like that dog will hunt but, I wouldn't have put them next to the Hot Tub Time Machine.
I think you just pissed off a couple of tree huggers.
His "magic" is normally made in a shop with access to thousands of specialty tools. He used an axe, a chainsaw, and a drill with 2 bits. How is that not magic?
Sci Fi come true for folks in the 1800s!
kind sir....you broke the number 1 lumberjack rule of chainsawing..and that is never to start a chainsaw with out a creepy beard and hat....consult the manual... good day!
cool !
I thought his hands were covered in blood when he has the gloves on
Sharpen the chain or get a bigger saw
You don't seem to know the differences between cross-cutting and ripping wood.
Yeah thanks jimmy sharpen the chain and get a bigger saw
using dead tree..GOOD IDEA....SAVE OUR EARTH
chainsaw you say?maybe you mean file
XD That sped up chainsaw noise sounds like a mosquito on speed. It's an odd thing to laugh about, but I'm an odd guy, so there ya go.
I've used much duller chains
Oh my God Sharpen that chain!
Three letters, Wow
1:12 remind me of the movie "dead end" :))
Don't feed the trolls, Brad.
My parents just cut a couple of their trees in their back yard. I'm gonna see if they have any long ones so I can try this.
Screwdrivers are not chisels and chainsaws are not jointers! Ha!
There's no need for that if he's going to dig into the soil with it again as he did when he was cutting the branch for the legs. What a way to ruin a chainsaw.
I bet he made that hot tub too.
I guess Jimmy is going Green..
I'm sure if any one from the comments tried this at home they'll lose a leg ,
