    I purchased Amouage Boundless on your recommendation (actually Grace's recommendation but you were still in the video). I'm happy I did. I'm really enjoying it this winter. Thanks, Grace.

    I think the most important thing for a beginner to figure out is what type of scent works best with your body chemistry. I've bought numerous amounts of fresh/aquatic scents because I liked them, but they don't last on me. Citrus and aquatic last a couple hours, at best. If I had known that body chemistry was such a crucial factor, I wouldn't have wasted thousands of dollars on fragrances I liked, but just didn't work on me.

    I do enjoy Rain Essence quite a bit…
    Overpriced at full retail.. but at discounters it’s a solid choice for something fresh and clean that isn’t a “blue”
    Or straight citrus bomb..
    Not sure we’ll see the days of finding Bvlgari Man fragrances for $45/$50 100ml… but in the $60-$70 range 100ml I’d say most of them are worth the price.

    Bois Imperial is a fantastic everyday/work niche for beginers, and it is not expensive - 85 euros for 100 ml.

      Yeah, I bought this off Justin’s recommendation, I believe. Considering that some new designer fragrances retail for double that price certainly upsets the designer/niche price-point scenario.

    "Take this hobby slowly " So true! Let me write that :) As every beginner I was jumping from one to another fragrance in a 2,3 days. Didn't have time to test, everything was blind buy. Lot of them I had to sell.
    Now, research,look for a decant,order,week of wearing and finally decision.

    Wonderful choices, as always. Boundless is one of my signatures so I'm completely biased, haha. Bonus points for Monsillage, though. Being from Quebec, I can't help but preach! Seriously though, Isabelle is a fantastic perfumer. She also makes some of the best bar soaps I know, with actual perfume-related scents. She has an Iso E Super soap! Perfect for base layer 👌😄

    Hi Justin just wanted to thank you for this video, me personally am on a scent or sense memory trip , wanting to get my nose on as many different scents as possible, to bring me back to times, places and people from my past, more so than even wearing scents when I'm out and about, Mr Burberry has brought me back nearly 30 years to an x ,and all those memories have flooded back, thanks again, just goes to show even the cheapest can be the best especially when it comes to memory.thanks again.

    Great video. For a clean natural smell, I use body musk perfume oil from Qurashi. It is white musk oil that is applied on the skin by a plastic applicator and then spread or rubbed by hand. Clean, natural, non-intrusive but at the same time lovely smell. Original Musk from Kiehl's claims the same but although I like it, but body musk is a much better option for this particular function.

    • @blee1234us
      @blee1234us 11 місяців тому

      I wouldn't say 70%, but I agree with your statement. I've bought countless fragrances that I wouldn't purchase again. I am probably at the 50% mark... But that is what happens when you constantly blind buy (unfortunately).

  • @fishin4bogey
    @fishin4bogey 11 місяців тому

    I completely agree. I bought a handful of decants from Scent Split. This way if I don't like it I'm out maybe 30 bucks, not several hundred. Far to often we go out and blind buy a fragrance because the female influncer has really nice........eyes! Yesterday I wore Kajal Faris, and today Creed Aventus. To be honest, they both smell great, but I couldn't tell the difference. One of those is almost 500 a bottle.

    Good list. I’m not even familiar with some of them, but I 100% agree with Valentino Uomo as a date night fragrance. For the category where you recommended Gambit, I tend to rotate back and forth between MB Explorer, D&G Light Blue and Missoni Wave. All work well for a bunch of scenarios and none are too expensive. For work I’d also keep those, but add Dior Homme 2020, Gentleman EDP and Polo Blue EDP.
    Your choices are super unique, which I love. I have some work to do to get to know them. Love this video homie. Still using DecantX with your code too. 😎

    I'd recommend a beginner to get more familiar with scents of cooking spices and ingredients: cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, mint, oregano, curry, honey...
    Also, I'd get good soaps with one predominant note, e.g. soaps from Marseille, France that have lavender, or jasmin. They can smell wonderful and you will notice the difference every time you enter your bathroom.
    About niche, besides testing whichever you can find in stores, I'd rather suggest get sample sets of different houses, not just of individual scents.
    I'd recommend sample sets from Parfums de Marly, Amouage, Maison Margiela, Kerosene, and Mancera. That will cover many styles and categories.
    About designers, well those can be sampled for free in many stores. Important not to just smell them right after spraying. Smell their drydowns. So collect as many paper strips as you can carry separately enough back home. Use different pockets for each, whether on your clothing, or koala, backpack, briefcase, wallet. (Some times I've brought home more than a dozen :) Then compare and check their drydowns once at home.
    Ideal is to spray on skin, but we can't spray that many separate enough spots on our arms, so the best next thing are those paper strips.

    Thankyou for making videos that always explore more of what’s out there. I’ve been interested in this hobby for just 6 months and I’m already very bored of the channels that do the lists of the same old designer blue fragrances over and over again.
    I tried Bulgari Man Rain Essence in the shop. The opening is outstanding, very fresh and captures that freshness of a summer storm, but it quickly dries down into a very ordinary smelling and very weak skin scent that I had to put my nose on my wrist to be able to smell. At least that was how it worked on me. Hard pass on that one, which is a shame because the opening is so good.
    I’m really interested in trying out some of the Mind Games frags, I’ve heard good things about them on some of the other channels too. They sound a bit unique and intriguing.

    I got a sample of Gambit based off of not only your recommendation but also Grace! I absolutely love it. Was a love at first sniff for me. It does have a similarity to Sauvage elixir haha. I get your reasoning behind beginners should not have to go through the same fragrance journey you did by potentially spending lots on the typical blue fragrances etc. But I would argue that beginners most likely haven't learned to appreciate complex fragrances (some of them very expensive like the Amouage and Mind Games). Their noses just haven't matured enough.
    Not hating on the video but I feel beginners need to learn to appreciate the more "mainstream" fragrances before they fork out for an Amouage or Mind Games. Hell, for a lot of people, having an Amouage could be an end game or holy grail. I guess what I'm saying is maybe the word "Beginner" is misused?

But you keep on making your little videos, about your other little fragrances, on your little Sunday afternoons (don't ask me why everything is little, I didn't think that far ahead)......Well, now that I think about it, maybe we shouldn't let beginners know about 2nd Soul. Because, they'd be Enders instead, meaning that once they experience the greatness that is 2nd Soul, they'd end their journeys as soon as they started em. Yup. 2nd Soul. It's trash, folks. Just ignore all of this. You didn't...see...anything...
