    8:05 I had it a wee bit harder. I had to go back as far as my great grandparents to get my citizenship as they were the last ones born in Mexico. My parents weren’t born in Mexico nor were their parents. I had to go all the way to a small pueblo in southern Chihuahua to find/get one of my great grandparent’s Acta. It took me a year to officially obtain citizenship. A few months later I took out a passport. Well worth it in the end.

    I did dual citizenship for my kids and it was the same process but easier. I was born in Mexico so I knew where to go and it was easier than I thought. As in any government building there are people you can pay to certify and translate any USA documents in Mexico, so ask someone at registro civil. I would not call it having any hiccups or problems if you know the process. If you plan to do in in Mexico, get the appostille done in the USA if possible because international mail does take long. (10 days for me). Everything in English has to be translated into Spanish and certified. Most registros civiles have a machine to provide certified birth certificates. You need the name, birth place and year. You just put the money and in 10 seconds you got it. It’s around 5bucks or 100 pesos.

    I did this whole process from Tijuana even though I live in the United States 🇺🇸, I didn’t have to show proof of address I just went to the office upstairs from the building where I was getting it done and they took a picture they asked how long have you been in Mexico and I put less than 24 hours and they signed it and stamped it , I took that downstairs to where I was getting my dual citizenship you’re Mexican birth certificate and then when I applied for my passport and INE they ask you if you have Mexican parents born in Mexico which Birth Certificate you want to use so I used my dad so they put me as a voter for my INE in Coahuila mex. After that, I gave mexican citizenship to my children and they didn’t have to show proof of address either in Mexico. They just registered them in the state they received their birth certificate, and for the passport for my oldest, they just gave her Mexico City as her state to vote for, but the address on our INE is our American address in the states! I’m sure it’s different everywhere. You go in Mexico. Everybody has their own rules. It’s not like the follow the same template. 😂 Also, once you become a dual citizenship, you can give that citizenship to your children And they can give it to their children. 😊
    There’s a lot more to it, but this is as much as I can type lol

    Thank you Jose and Aaron!! I've been mulling over the idea of dual citizenship (my father was born in Mexico) without knowing where to really begin. I also grew up in the Imperial Valley and have a lot of family in Mexicali that I often visit. While I was there over the holidays I decided to begin the process. After having my BC apostilled in California, coupled with my fathers Mexican birth certificate, I was able to begin. Today, 1 month later, I have my Mexican birth certificate!!! Thanks for another great episode Jose. I have my dual citizenship and I felt some great emotions when I got it. Before getting it, if you look in Google, it says that the U.S government frowns upon having dual citizenships. It's a scare tactic of a selfish government but don't listen people, go get your dual citizenships. Remember that the native Americans are the ones who should be calling shots in " good old US of A"

  • @yetijoeyetijoe

    My ADD might have kicked in while listening to this but it doesn't sound like it is faster or easier compared to the Consulate in the U.S. At 26:29 he said that the INE took awhile which is needed for the Mexican passport. Also, it sounded like multiple trips are needed to Mexico because he needed to take a parents birth certificate to get a Ansa de Naciemento which is required before starting the whole process. I am not near the border so the trips will add up. A local consulate might be cheaper.

    • @tracielozanoguevara7842
      @tracielozanoguevara7842 9 місяців тому +1

      The process is free for dual citizenship, I think the INE explanation was a little confusing you apply for your Mexican passport & INE at the same time (once you have your Mexican birth certificate) you get your passport at the appointment your INE Which is used as a form of ID in Mexico you get within 30 days. Hope that make sense . One other important thing is take all the people work you took to do your dual citizenship when you apply for your passport & INE . ☺️

    I would like to point out that female soccer player Diana Ordonez got her Mexican citizenship even though non her parents were Mexican, but her grandparents were born in Mexico back in the 40's. If Mitt Romney would like to become Mexican he could do it because his dad George Romney was born in Chihuahua Mexico, he became governor of Michigan, and back in the 60's tried to run for US President. And by the way, there is bunch of people in Chihuahua with dual citizenship.

You can own a house or property wherever you want, access to some countries that the USA doesn't have, you can get your retirement in Mexico as well, free healthcare etc.
