  • New Brighton Tower overlooked the popular Victorian seaside resort of New Brighton, in the early 1900’s it was the tallest building in England. Sadly after the First World War it was demolished

I didn't know there were so many photos of New Brighton tower, albeit they are postcards but they are still photos. Anyone know what Ocean Liner that is at the 4:18 mark?. I doubt it's RMS Olympic looks a little too small to be an Olympic class ship, though Olympic was photographed on the Mersey on the 1st or 2nd June 1911 when she came to Liverpool for her open day; it's a pity the few photos taken (one taken from a nearby building) New Brighton tower isn't in shot or can be seen in the distance. That would've been a really great photo showing Titanic's sister ship on the river Mersey and New Brighton tower towering in the background.

Anyone have any idea of the years of some of these photos?. Obviously they can only be from either the late 1800s, 1900s and the 1910s, but anyone know the exact years?. I'd say the photo at the 6:56 mark is from either 1898, 1899 or the very early 1900s, to me the clothing the woman is wearing seems more of that time period.
The photo labeled "Seacombe promenade and Aquitania" must've been taken sometime between 1914 and 1919 as Aquitania had her maiden voyage in 1914.

I remember cycling up to New brighton along the prom from the ferry terminal, we got bricked by a tribe of plazzy scouse monkeys and never went back.
