Welcome to Merseyside shipping Channel that uploads a monthly video of vessels. That visit the River Mersey. These cover a range of situations from tugs assisting container ships, using the Royal Seaforth Dock, to bulk carriers at the Langton Lock. While up river at the Tranmere Oil Terminal, tankers are seen being escorted by tugs. Other vessels that regularly ply the river like the ferries, and the Lara 1 a floating crane. Can be seen, along with the cruise liners that visit Liverpool during the summer months. The channel also contains a growing collection of views from old postcards taken in the early 1900’s, that include New Brighton Tower, Liverpool Pier Head, and the Birkenhead and Wallasey Ferries. Also there are views of the transatlantic liners from the days of the Lusitania sunk in 1915.

Anyone have any idea of the years of some of these photos?. Obviously they can only be from either the late 1800s, 1900s and the 1910s, but anyone know the exact years?. I'd say the photo at the 6:56 mark is from either 1898, 1899 or the very early 1900s, to me the clothing the woman is wearing seems more of that time period. The photo labeled "Seacombe promenade and Aquitania" must've been taken sometime between 1914 and 1919 as Aquitania had her maiden voyage in 1914.
I didn't know there were so many photos of New Brighton tower, albeit they are postcards but they are still photos. Anyone know what Ocean Liner that is at the 4:18 mark?. I doubt it's RMS Olympic looks a little too small to be an Olympic class ship, though Olympic was photographed on the Mersey on the 1st or 2nd June 1911 when she came to Liverpool for her open day; it's a pity the few photos taken (one taken from a nearby building) New Brighton tower isn't in shot or can be seen in the distance. That would've been a really great photo showing Titanic's sister ship on the river Mersey and New Brighton tower towering in the background.
i remember the pierhead in 50s were the big liners used to berth .empress of england / empress of britian /accra / queen mary etc we lived wilson road wallassey
The Black Watch, Boudica and Borealis are so much a better looking ship then the slab sided monstrosities also featured
Great video. Those are good seamanship skills alright. Must know the waters from youth.
Cool video 👍
Nice view of the Liver Birds. Thanks.
The Pantellis doesn't look very full and dumping ballast on its way in. Does the water depth preclude full ones?
That's not ballast, I'm not shore but the water may be from it's chain locker

Nice video!!
Brilliant work, and an awesome video! We have recently been lucky enough to film two of the Arklow fleet, we fly our drones out to sea to film them, we love ship spotting and love to see other people involved in it too! Cant wait to see more videos, keep up the hard work!
So nice!
I remember cycling up to New brighton along the prom from the ferry terminal, we got bricked by a tribe of plazzy scouse monkeys and never went back.
Great Video !!

UA-camr "AdventureMe" did a great documentary about the Tower, pity it was pulled down all these years ago, think I heard about reinstating it on the original site, now that would be good for the town and area.
brilliant, loved it
Great video
The Mammoth crane seen in the film was renamed Baltic Mammoth in Sweden. She was broken up in Fredrikshavn, Denmark. The year is unknown. Pictures on the net suggest it was at least after 1960.
Interesting, I was not aware of a canal between Mersey and Manchester. This one is a bit wider than the ones designed for narrow boats.
Very well done, I enjoyed the River Mersey side views of freight ships and passenger liners. Good choice of music too!.
