When he said he was confused I was like "Good, that means you're learning that gender isn't binary" and then still couldn't admit it for like 30 minutes
It's annoying when people bring up chromosomes. No one knows a person's chromosomes when walking down the street, and people didn't know chromosomes even existed for thousands of years, and yet I'm sure this guy would say people identified gender during that time.
In fact, it used to be that students would check their chromosomes as part of their classwork, but the sudden revelations in the middle of class were disruptive enough that they now do this on strawberries instead
I keep saying it Kids are taught that you can't subtract 4 from 2 because negative numbers are too complex. The same way we only teach two sexes and two genders. That's not all there is, it never was, it's just easier to limit how much they learn at certain ages.
I feel like a lot of their collective frustration comes from the fact that they are frustrated with the gender roles they have been told they are stuck with. For instance, a lot of straight men want to be seen as men and respected by women (and other men) without feeling like they are required to be financial providers, emotional tombs, and other things that have nothing to do with simply being a man. They see a trans woman and think, "That person got to escape the situation I am stuck in and that feels so unfair to me that I will do anything to drag that person back into the suffering I am experiencing."
That makes a lot of sense. From personal experience, my family thinks I'm trans because I don't like gender roles. It checks out that other people would think similarly to them. Its like how the ex-christian community are seen as escapists.
@@Pensive_Scarlet for me, i say if boys are blue and girls are pink, i would be a solid yellow. ive never found the exact right word that fits to give my gender a name, but the color analogy helps me pin it down. for me i feel like the sex i identify with, my gender identity, and my social gender have operated on different levels. ive always been ‘whatever’ on the social side, yellow in my identity, and trans in my sex identity. what about you? don’t have to respond but a ‘rocky journey’ sounds like an interesting perspective
I think it's more the fact that people view what they were told as a child as being concrete. Like most people I bet would insist until they're black and blue that Red Blue and Yellow are the primary colours and they'd be dead wrong.
This is why this needs to be taught young. Once you're too old, it's hard to understand when you have been living in a society with only two genders and those genders had a strong set of rules and you'd be shunned if you didn't follow them.
Bro you are such a saint. I've discovered you recently and I absolutely love the way you patiently and concisely communicate to people who simply don't understand. You don't take an immediate offensive approach and you do a very good job of keeping them coming back to the topic you're discussing for them to break down and realize that they don't in fact understand what they're talking about
I'm so rigid in my thinking yet totally wrong on the definitions associated with said topic that we should make up new words when we already have words available lol
This vid makes me feel like I’m back in high school and The teacher is taking too much time with the slow kid and and class can’t be dismissed until he gets the answer😂😂😂 he didn’t do his homework🙄
Turner’s syndrome is a really interesting one for the genotypic / phenotypic sex conversation. People with Turner’s syndrome either don’t have a second sex chromosome, or it’s partially missing; so instead of XX or XY they only have X. As humans (typically, I believe) in utero start developing phenotypically female, all people born with Turner’s syndrome are phenotypically female. Genotypically obviously it’s more ambiguous without a second sex chromosome. Might be a cool one to read up on for debates like this, as I think it really nicely ties in with the mosaicism point you made re determining sex.
HEY MAN just wanna say I just discovered your content and I'm subbed and binge watching so thanks for all you do 🎉 btw you remind me of a black Vaush lol
This guy is right out of a simpsons episode! 😂 All right. Let's go over this one more time, just to make sure I understand the situation. You're a girl. Yes. Oh, gosh darn it. I just don't understand the situation. You're a girl?
i haven’t watched yet, but i just have a feeling that this is going to be a very interesting take…😅 update after watching: just kidding, he had no takes. no opinions. nothing. Jake’s head is empty space 🤦🏼♀️
Ill play devils advocate, typically males have small gamates and females have large gamates that produce sperm or eggs but even then not everyone does that either. In ovotesticular disorder or ovotestis, people would produce both types of gamates both ovarian and testicual tissue. So even then theres not an absolute on that either. Even if there was an absolute on chromosomes, genetalia and gamates, you can still relate but not interchange sex and gender because gender is the phenotype, behaviors and psychology males and females entail or inhabit
This video just got recommended to me. I'm always worried checking new youtubers especially when it comes gender. Don't wanna be his with hate. You're pretty cool, will definitely check out more of your videos! Thank you for being cool 🏳⚧

I love how they always say they aren’t well informed yet hold such strong, ignorant opinions, and think they are right 😂
Guest: "I'm a little confused on this."
No shit Sherlock. Ignorance is not a substitute for being informed.
That they constantly call genitals "private parts", tells me everything I need to know.
In today's episode of "very poorly informed person is adamant about topic being very easy and obvious":
so regular day on Jovan's channel
The amount of adults who are incapable of saying “genitals” and instead use “private parts” is depressing.

wierdest x-men power, being able to instantly know someone's genetics upon site
I keep saying it

This is a great example.
Perfect example thank you

@@_JustJoe How do you personally identify? Just out of curiosity.
I ultimately settled on "third gender" after a somewhat rocky journey.

Old mate is really concerned with truth but curiously starts sweating when specifics enter the conversation.
Dude sounded like he took the fattest bong rip to start his day before entering the call to chat with Jovan
jovan picks up and just "cough cough cough cough"
This is the worst sex ed class ever 😭
❤ Best debater I've ever seen! We all love you Jovan!

You know you got them when you ask a straightforward question and all they do is pivot.

I like how all of these idiots have the same fundamental argument of 'I'm ignorant, so that makes me right'

Jovan for President
This guest sounds like Kryten from red dwarf short-circuiting when Lister asks for brown sauce for his Lobster. Its just not computing with him!
Holy hell, hi fellow Jovan/Red Dwarf enjoyer

That person was drunk.
23:49 is this man on the toilet? What was that?
Yo he totally is! Explains why he took himself off speakerphone
@@TheStrandrew I can now smell this video. I don’t know how Jovan kept a straight face.
he just refuses to learn, repeating the same idea over and over without insight

Actually gender was historically a class so even by his understanding its still a social concept.
This has been a wild experience for this person's first day on earth
Is nobody else bothered that the caller started taking a deuce at 23:30?!
The persons brain completely fried halfway thought the conversation. His ability to comprehend anything being said just shut down.
Saying human sexuality is a “binary” is to say they humans who fall outside that “binary” is to say they aren’t human categorically.
Love you so much Jovan!!❤❤
Clearly this guest doesn’t know anything

Vaush is an opportunistic silly man, don’t compare that man to Jovan.
That's a wild thing to say but alright

not really
I’m confused. This guy seems honest and empathetic with people who disagree with him though?

brainrot hearing people trying to explain two different things as the same
Why is this person so obsessed with genetalia?
It's so tiring hearing the same thing from so many staunchly ignorant people over and over and over.
