All I can say is....WOWWW!!!!! This brings back soooo many memories! If you're not from Chicago, you couldn't...and wouldn't understand at all! Growing up in the Chi was the best..ever! From the parties,to the pizzas,to the Dipped italian beefs, the beaches.,the house parties..the ladies...and the snowed in nights! Chicago represent..no doubt!!!!
I can see & feel myself jamming the Hot Mix' on Fridays & Saturdays driving my 1984 Buick Park avenue, and my King brothers & me going to Montrose Beach, this is starting from like 1982 till about 1994, Chicago had the best House/Dance 🎵🎶 Music... 🤟👑
It's Jamie Principle's track. This was the first commercial release. Knuckles as a DJ played the original tape in his sets. They should both take credit one for Jamie's idea and two for Knuckles getting it into the clubs. PS: Adrienne Jett should also take some deserved credit for the female vocals. Check out - 'Feels Good' by Electra feat Tara Butler on Emergency Records, 1982.
it's been over 24 years when we were blessed by jamie with this song. there is nothing like it. that was a great time to be young. dance like no one is watching...
im 35 my kid is 15 and he's just getting into the 90s techno-now he's diggin da crates and listning to my cuts. aaahh-the bass lives on., Great memories thank god for the internet-im finding all my old jams. this sound is incredible! crack for your ears.
Its funny being told by my dad "this isn't real music no one will care about it in a few years" well 30 years later & kids hearing this now still think its special
Best track ever !!! Takes me (all the way) back ! soooooooooooo many happy memories ! THANK YOU FRANKIE ! You rest in peace now , and maybe we meet again on the other side !
I would love to have this version.... Much better than the one released on Trax Records credited to Frankie. Would also love to have heard the original tape version.
I got turned on to this tune via Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It touched a nerve to say the least. Little did I know that I was listening to one of the cornerstones of house music.
The sickest house track ever! Like a power ballard with the snare and the vocals and the strong house presence with the four on the floor beat and the bassline riff is just sickest! And last not least the arpeggio with the retro synth! EPIC!!!
The name & artist of one of my fave classic old skool tracks has completely eluded me & Im going nuts! Can someone plz do a girl a solid?!! Female vocals: "No one can change the way I feel, because my love for you is real, it's you that I want"...
I used to go nuts when ron hardy would drop this. Or for that matter anything jamie p made. But to chime in on the vocalist battle I would have to say the late great Darly pandy (chi-town) and Ultra Nate -NYC. Listen to its over by her. I still bang that!!
Been an interesting thing to revisit the memories that this music brings. My house was mere blocks from Mendel HS where this stuff was available on a weekly basis and truly appreciate the front row seat for a whole new genre of music. I was pretty shy in these days and didn't have a whole lot of experience on the dance floor but this music MADE you move. All I can say is thanks.
Well no disrespect intended but i know who got the credit. I prefer the stripped down versions of Jamies tracks as the sound i think he originaly intended was a lot closer to Italo-euro disco. Frankie Knuckles seemed to push his mixes of them more towards the house sound. It was Ron Hardy who broke this track so i hear.
Umm he didn't actually make this version. This is Jamie's - he wrote it, and originally performed it. Frankie took a lot of the credit of breaking it as a track.
hey thanks for sharing this track. I only found out there was an earlier version than the Frankie Knuckles one last night when watching the history of house documentary here on you tube. This version is even better than the great Knuckles one on Trax!!
Candi Staton is a marvelous singer. Sure pure House has it own rawness and original feel. Thats why I said enjoyed by the masses for The Source.. Both well done track. Candi Staton is a marvelous singer.
IN THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS JACK, AND JACK HAD A GROOVE, And from this groove came the groove of all grooves, And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldy declared, “Let there be HOUSE!” and house music was born. “I am, you see, I am the creator, and this is my house! And, in my house there is ONLY house music. But, I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes OUR house and OUR house music!” And, you see, no one man owns house because house music is a universal language, spoken and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you’re deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body. And, as I told you before, this is our house and our house music. And in every house, you understand, there is a keeper. And, in this house, the keeper is Jack. Now some of you who might wonder, “Who is Jack, and what is it that Jack does?” Jack is the one who gives you the power to jack your body! Jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake. Jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggly worm. Jack is the one who learns you how to walk your body. Jack is the one that can bring nations and nations of all Jackers together under one house. You may be black, you may be white; you may be Jew or Gentile. It don’t make a difference in OUR House. And this is fresh!
fukin all time classic - this or Frankies mix both excellent. vocal is amazing, this track has so much depth and has stood the test of time well. Warehouse anthem
The Solitude of Prime numbers, an Italian movie... has this in the soundtrack, as well as Energy Flash by Adam X. great movie, incredible soundtrack (Ali Naderzad, Screen Comment)
Jamie seems so humble in interviews. Does he realize how his music transfixed a whole generation of people? The music on this track is ridiculous, even without his wonderful voice, the track itself stands on its own.
♥when I'm with you, I believe, that your love is true... when we love, you turn me out, you know what to do... visions really blow my mind, fantasizing all the time...♫ ♥when your body's next to me, I begin to sway... when we touch I lose control, now you know what's next... fantasizing all the time, move your body next to mine...♫
@amylondongirl the 80s music historically is best music and still is, that is why all the tunes from 80s are gold dust, in a goldmine. The 80s produced so many original, unique tunes and thus creation of early genres of music
@amylondongirl You can say that again. This was pure dance music with no violence and obscenities. I still can identify with such smooth and quality music. This was during my high school days and house was the deal. One love...by the way I am from Zimbabwe.
Anybody who is anybody in the CHI knows this is real HOUSE!! Jackin to this was almost an everyday thing. To dis this is not only ridiculous but shows that I grew up in the right city at the right time. Kenwood Class of 83, so don't even think about questioning my knowledge. Chicago House is and will always be the SHIT!!
Yes mate £3...i almost missed it as i had flicking thru so many records. I love 2nd hand record shops. so many classic that people just dont want anymore or they dont know the value of the track.
First House record ever, unless you count On and On by Jesse Saunders. I love that this was produced on a portastudio.. So brilliant. You really can hear how heavily influenced the Chicago guys were by 80's UK New Romanticism.
I can't let go When I'm with you I believe that your love is true when we love you turn me out you know what to do visions really blow my mind fantasizing all the time When your body's next to mine I begin to sweat when we touch I lose control now you know what's next fantasizing all the time move your body next to mine I need your love I need your love I need your love Don't make me wait too long ooh I need your touch I can't let go I can't let go
2023 still here melting and swooning to this beautiful classic.

Exactly. I hate how Frankie Knuckles takes most of the credit for what is basically a remix.
Calm down, we know it’s Jamie principle
Carrots & Beets 😉
Also the fact that Mark Hot Rod added the bass and the synths - arguably the catchiest part of the track
it's been over 24 years when we were blessed by jamie with this song. there is nothing like it. that was a great time to be young. dance like no one is watching...
I am 43 years of age soon and I still play this stuff.....fantastic
Happy 56th

I am turning 30 years old. House Music has been a part of my life since limewire/napster had came out. House will forever be a part of my life.
It’s a very special song to me. I’m 53 and still in love with Jamie’s voice and the backing singers! Pure elation. Bliss . PLUR !!

Checking your age and where you live, I wouldn't expect a answer like that! You on point like you witness the Chicago House Boom in the middle 80's!!
This track i feel in love with 20 years ago,and the reason why i promoted clubs for 12 years,an all time CLASSIC.
Listen,Love and ENjoy!!!!
