I live nowadays in Indonesia with two sewing machine repair places in the only town I can reach and I know more than the "specialist" (they can't even remove a thread stuck between the tension disks, my husband eventually did that. Finding your video is a life saver. Thank you for making and posting it
Great instructional guide again Abi, I watched lots of similar ones trying to sort out my mums old machine that had not been used for years (New Home 535) and your guides are by far the most helpful. It’s now back to full working order. Thanks x
thank you for all this detail! subscribed! my brother LX3817 machine was not picking up bottom thread at all, but when observing, it didn't seem like the timing was off. it seemed in right place at right time but thread just was not dipping down far enough to catch. after much difficulty and watching so many videos i got it threaded somehow, and finally got it to sew again, but it is now skipping stitches. i'm so thrilled to have it sewing again so i'm continuing with my project and will do more in-depth troubleshooting when it's done!
@@AbisDen i made king-size pillowcases out of curtains, the seams look awful on the inside but looks great on the outside for my purpose which is just to make a bed look more like couch seating.
Thanks! I’d seen a video on timings elsewhere but it didn’t explain the Why and How - now I understand! Sadly, the machines that need sorting are 70 miles away from me - hopefully I’ll be able to give them a new lease of life once I can travel again :-)
Thank you. This helps a great deal. Keep on making these videos and we will keep on watching. I have a bit of an issue with an older machines zig zag stitches now I know what to look for.
Very helpful video 😊 The first one I’ve seen on this topic where I can see clearly. I’m fairly convinced now that needle timing isn’t the problem on my machine. Is there any variable timing for the feed dogs?
Im having issues with my zig zags where maybe 1 out of every 20 stitches ends up being straight instead of zigzag. Also, my most extreme zigzag doesnt really seem that wide. Would this fix both those issues?
Thanks Abi, great video as slways. When I am bag making and trying to use my Brother FS130QC, I will get skipped stitches when sewing the thicker parts. I use the equivalent of a hump jumper and also use the lock on my foot but that doesn’t help much and I have to revert to my vintage machine. What could be causing this stitch skipping to happen?
Brother FS machines are just power poor machines along the inadequate feed dogs that don’t support the fabric so you don’t get enough strength in the needle to punch holes through the fabric and secure stitches. FS models, tbh, are the only machines that make me cringe when they come in for “repair”. Sorry Helen xxx
@@AbisDen Yes I've come to that conclusion. It's ok for light work and when I need a stretch stitch but good old Jones gets to do the real work. I did promise myself good new machine as a retirement present but can't get to try any out yet, fancy trying that super Necchi one you reviewed.

There is, I can demonstrate that in another video
Thank you Abi. Keep on making these videos . Great to watch them. Will this also apply to top loading bobbing's Not that i will be doing that lol.😊😘
Hi Lee. Yes this is the same rule applied to almost every sewing machine. Old and new.
@@AbisDen Thank you. fixing or repairing my machines i will leave that one to you. lol .😊👍

The first maybe not the second issue. That’s the swing, you need to oil your machine, it might just be stuck
