    Thanks for working to provide us with quality products geared to our fishery, as well as the blueprints on how to use them effectively! You crush the learning curve to our benefit. Aside from the price point, where the Dark Matter Skinner is a relative BARGAIN, are there any other subtle real world differences between the Lamiglas GSB Skinner, and the new Dark Matter Skinner rod that we can't ascertain from the spec's alone?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  4 роки тому

      The Dark Matter is a little better suited for lures in the 2.5-3-ounce range, but it's still good down to 3/4-ounce.

    The rod came out just as I was looking for a 9 footer. I picked one up, had a chance to use it in pretty rough conditions tonight. Picked up a decentc schoolie, (might have been a slot fish, didn't measure) and a smaller one on a SS little neck popper. Switched to an SP when the sun went down, caught some nice schoolies. Maybe 10 or so fish in total. This was a fun rod to fish. The schoolies coupled with the rough surf put up a good fight. I was using a Slammer III 5500 because that's what I had on hand, I intend to use it with a Gosa 6000 SWA when it's available. I'm liking the rod so far.

    John would love to get your honest opinion on the saltx when it gets hit by a wave and is introduced into some sand and salt. It has been nothing but trouble for me, locking up, sand or something inside some components causing a coffee grinder feel, and terrible squeaking sound emitting from the housing.

      Regardless of my experience, I think you have your answer. It's not working for you in the conditions you're fishing. Any idea how a Van Staal stands up to those conditions? I know with a VS or Penn 706 I just grind through it.
