• How To Use A Seam Ripp...
A seam ripper is a small tool with one end the has a sharp hook. It is used in removing stitches, usually because a mistake has been made or to remove temporary stitches, such as a basting stitch. Professor Pincushion shows you how to use the seam ripper for minimum damage to your fabric.

Thanks! I'm about to remove the Jansport logo from a backpack and this really helped.
Other than the first stitch or two the smaller part with the rubber tip should be used. It's not meant to be one stitch at a time.
Exactly
I find that once you get I between the seam it's best to just hold it so the seam hangs stick the ball end into the seam and pull down and away from the fabric usually you have to readjust every few inches but I've been able to go longer than a foot with one swipe. Using the ball end makes it unlikely to rip the fabric as long as you've tugged a bit to expose the seam in the middle every so often.
You can use it also for opening button holes.
thats not the correct way to use a seam ripper. she needs to view some videos on the correct way
agree
the problem I always have is where I have backstitches, and it gets difficult and I often rip the fabric there. any tips to avoid this?
Cool. Thanks for the vid.
Your using it wrong on the inner seam
*Ah....I see now !* *Thanks* Professor Pincushion
_What is incorrect about it_ Ashelie Dudeck _?_
UKPurplePanther Happy to help :)
You open it up with the sharp end for a stitch or two then you insert the short end, holding the material very taut together and slice open the entire seam...not one stitch at a time.
The comments have me wary but I at least now have an idea of what to do.
This is not how a seam ripper is meant to be used. Find another video.
that is incorrect.
It shouldn't be such a struggle to cut the threads. A good seam ripper will slide through the stitches with ease. All that "popping" noise says to me it's a cheap tool. You should have a better quality seam ripper, especially to demonstrate.
Paula Donn shoot, I have the SAME EXACT seam ripper so I know we're she got it and it's so sad😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Paula Donn and it doesn't hurt😂😂😂
She didn't use it properly. It's not the tool.
Method is incorrect, as noted by others.
It amazes me that people think that because that is the way they have always done something that it is the correct way. This is not.
Not actually the right way lol
That's not how to use a seam ripper.
This is not the proper nor fastest way to use a seam ripper.
Your a professional? Well that's NOT the correct way to use this tool. That red dot is in there for a reason and it blows my mind how many "professionals" are posting videos using this till improperly.
