Camas Teachers on Strike: Day 1

The Camas Education Association (CEA) went on strike for the first time in its history today as negotiations between the union and Camas School District (CSD) officials have stalled on three topics: 1) smaller class sizes; 2) equity in music, library and PE funding across CSD schools; and 3) higher wages, specifically a Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) to combat inflation.
The CEA has asked for an 8.9 percent COLA, and CSD’s final offer is a 5.7 percent COLA.
