  • The Selmer Paris AXOS Alto Saxophone is a mainstay in the Selmer Paris strategy. Sporting many of the magical qualities that make the brand special, the short comings actually happen outside of the horn. Sit down with Andrew as he goes inside and outside the horn!

Some manufacturing is done in Asia, with the majority of work done in France. -Andrew

My first instrument was a Conn Tenor Lady Face 10 M. It was my Dad’s. I visited Conn Selmer in Elkhart Ind. Got to hold one of those ConnSelmer china made Tenors! Our guide let slip that maybe a Conn Tenor made in Elkhart could be coming! Heard any of this?

Interesting video and I thank you for making it. I am a clarinet guy who is 72 and wants to relearn the alto. (I played it in high school) My concern is that the cost is high and there is a part of me that suspects that this horn has "made mostly in china" in its DNA and I do not want to purchase ANYTHING that comes from China. Am I missing the boat here?

Good one. Keep it going. Can’t wait for the YANAGISAWA AWO10 and AWO20.

My first instrument was the bundy II selmer alto saxophone student model. My instrument is worth $800. Is there any pro saxophones that are alto and are worth $1200

Why reverse using this beginners model. I bought mine when they first came out for considerably less than 4,000.00 dollars. My first instrument is Yamaha Tenor with a huge sound. I just started with the sax and had a break for two years bc of COVID

The SAS-711 is garbage and has virtually no resale value. I can’t imagine a worse suggestion to anyone wanting a pro horn. The Axos plays great from top to bottom if setup correctly. What isn’t mentioned at all is what happens when you put a SA80II, Reference 54, Series 3 or Supreme neck on this horn. When you upgrade the neck it really adds a ton of color to the tone. The 62 III is not a pro horn it’s been cheapened over the years and they have just as bad of setup issues when arriving to the dealer as a Selmer Paris. I will agree the AWO1 is a great horn but you know what it isn’t? A Selmer Paris sax and if you want that Selmer sound in you tone you’ll need a Selmer Paris.
