The pump for my sprinkler system has damaged twice already. I replaced a third time two days ago and the prime tank is empty every time I turned it on. There is nothing to hold the water back from syphoning back to the lake. This most be the solution to my problem. Thank you.
just had my pressure tank serviced. They took the tank off the stand to replace a power switch behind the tank on the wall. Now the tank is rocking a bit on the stand. Is this a big issue? Can I do a quick fix?
I just pulled my Submercible pump out of well, undid a screen & worked the plunger up & down even tho wasn't stuck then let it back down. Well if full so couldn't see kink, but on black pipe on top that goes inside to get water has an inch long crack in it, which Had to already been there but can't hear pump in well now so it's Fonzy Time Again. if you can't help then NP my friend! Almost dark so I'm done for This day I guess. TC
hi tim My son has a shallow well two weeks ago I quit priming and he cannot get it to re-prime I’ve watched your video about the check valve and I have a question the pipe that comes out of the well and goes to the pump has a check valve on it … my question is should that valve be on going into the pump or coming out of the pump? The line comes out of the well goes to the pump goes to the pressure tank and out to the house is this the correct set up also if you have a foot valve do you really need a check valve…We replace the check valve still cannot get the pump to prime our next troubleshooting is to replace the pump
Going into the pump also if you already pulled out your suction line depending on its depth you should have a foot valve at the bottom sorry I didn't see this earlier
If it gravity feeds itself and doesn't even need prime then you should not but why not check valves are like $15 also go with a brass one seimons are awesome
Hey Tim . Excellent videos TY! i have a similar issue i think... :) My pump works when i attach my water hose to it, but it doesn't seem to pump water from my well when i disconnect the water hose . i don't have a pressure gauge just a simple setup, a union and old metal check value on the pump suction side and worked for many years. Do you think this could be a faulty check value or something else?
Replaced that thing even but no luck, every time somebody flushes the toilet while the pump is already being used for the garden it loses prime... Really annoying to prime it like once a week. Any ideas?
Hi Tim, I really appreciate you do this kind of video. I have a problem with my submersible pump. I just got a new well drill and connected to my Pressure tank. The water pressure build up to 60psi and cut off fine. but when a valve is open the pressure drains down zero and shut off the pump. so we cannot use the water. I tried to prime it by opening the drainage pipe little bit and have it run for a while but it's fully open, the pressure will drop to zero and shutdown the pump. Is there anything wrong with my system? this is a fairly new system, unfortunately, it is out of the country and no one has any idea of how it works. Would you happen to have any idea what could be causing the pressure to drop to zero?
Egyah Echie 2 things probable cause .. first .. either the bladder in a bladder tank is improperly filled or ruptured.. or if it's non bladder tank then it's possible it's become water logged .. second You may have a low pressure cut off switch on your points .. it may be malfunctioning.. on a submersible pump priming isn't necessary as the pump sits in the water .. if these problems can't be addressed by you please save yourself headaches and called a licensed plumber or well installer to identify the exact cause and make proper repairs .
Also not sure where you live .. if it's in the south ga area near Valdosta then contact me .. if elsewhere you should locate a local reputable company.
My pump regularly loses its prime even while running erstwhile OK ,(drawing water) Is it possible that the spot deep in the earth where the end of my pipe is dipped in water goes dry (empty)?
Cavitating very possible while pump is running if you run out of water then it's definitely not a prime issue your well is cavitating if you can go down deeper with the drop pipe then that would be the easiest cheapest solution
Hi, I need help, I think we have a deep well. When ever my tank losses pressure and it turns on there's no pressure but the funny thing is it's still drawing water..... is still a prime issue?
Great & easy to understand video Tim! Gonna go out & try what you said, but I've Never done it this way in this way & got it working Many times before. Please read my post. TY SO MUCH...
Took my pump apart and everything looks good. New foot valve too. I was running it the other day and the PVC connector broke. I replaced it and now it doesn't pump water anymore. Any idea of what might be wrong? I checked the foot valve and it opens and closes and hold water. If everything's ok inside ( I'm thinking I'm missing something in the pump ) than what else could it be? Thanks for any help 👍🏼
After watching about 20 video, I still have not seen the direction the arrow is suppose to go on the check valve. Mine is horizontal and was just replaced, but still having priming problem.
I've went 25 + years without a check valve on my pump some dill weed puts one on my pump and now I'm having problems YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE A CHECK VALVE MY ASS A FOOT VALVES PLENTY GOOD
Hello , very interesting, ( tail gate) well ( well) pretty much , AS saying, not having much knowledgeable, about. Check?? Valve? Dude. Seriously. I could show you a unit, more interesting than you can believe on your dreams.
Thanks Tim for a short, sweet, easy to understand & to the point vid!
My pump sits almost to bottom of well, so I'm gonna need to pull it up I guess. I'm headed out Now, nice weather today also, NW ON Canada

Are by chance in the ft myers Lehigh area
Check valve needs to be below the jet, it's called a foot valve. Same used in shallow well. Keeps your well primed not just pump!
What if the water supply is ABOVE the pump, does it need a check valve? And which why should the flow travel show?
If it gravity feeds itself and doesn't even need prime then you should not but why not check valves are like $15 also go with a brass one seimons are awesome
I got above ground pump and I can not get it to catch prime what do I do

Could be check valve. They tend to go bad after a while. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey Tim you're right on the money I did replaced the check valve and all is good thanks again!

Thank you .... gonna go check the well pump!
Very relatable. Great vid. Thanks!!
Hey Tim you think 3/4 check valve makes a difference when priming. Is it better to use larger ones?
My pump regularly loses its prime even while running erstwhile OK ,(drawing water) Is it possible that the spot deep in the earth where the end of my pipe is dipped in water goes dry (empty)?
Cavitating very possible while pump is running if you run out of water then it's definitely not a prime issue your well is cavitating if you can go down deeper with the drop pipe then that would be the easiest cheapest solution
If it loses prime when pump is off check valve or foot valve issue but the pump will not prime if it has a broken pipe or air introduction
Hi, I need help, I think we have a deep well. When ever my tank losses pressure and it turns on there's no pressure but the funny thing is it's still drawing water..... is still a prime issue?
Sounds like it may be your pressure tank test the air pressure to the tank
Good video.
I use two check valves in line.

Thanks man, it's all good now 👍
You did. I thing but talk about what a check valve was lol where’s the hands in on how to get it praises again?
? Don't understand your question buddy
Pump won’t prime new foot valve installed what to do??
After watching about 20 video, I still have not seen the direction the arrow is suppose to go on the check valve. Mine is horizontal and was just replaced, but still having priming problem.
Stick with brass and thread make adapter on each end pvc check valves fail all the time
Excellent.
Nice job; thanks
Thanks for watching
mine has a foot valve
thanks for that information, really useful!
Is the check valve the same as foot valve?
Check valve is in line with piping, foot valve goes at the bottom of your suction line inside your well has a screen, 4 debris as well
Nice video
I've went 25 + years without a check valve on my pump some dill weed puts one on my pump and now I'm having problems
