Hi Bill. I am so sorry that I missed this Tag. I do not watch many if any Tag videos. The jazz and this one caught my eyes. But I was happy to hear that you started this one. It is definitely right up your musical alley. Its time to kick back and enjoy. I was thinking of you last week. I finally grabbed a copy of Manuel Gottsching/ Ash Ra New Age Of Earth. So many great prog albums out there. I am sure that you are going to show some of your gems right now. This will be my last watched VC video until tonight. I am going to record a new one now and then work on the music room. Talk soon B~ Rob/Boston
Thanks Rob! This was fun to do and to put together. So cool that you grabbed Gottschinh/Ash Ra. I still have yet to find any Ash Ra Tempel. Very high on my want list. I hope the music room is coming along! Take care .
I loved this so much.... Bill talking prog!!!! Oh yeah baby!!! We showed so many of the same, but in different spots lol. Twinning once again. Bruford had his hand in so many incredible prog/fusion bands and each one is fantastic. Jon Anderson is the voice standard of prog to me, so seeing him and Yes made me smile. I tried to mix it up, but all answers could have led to them, Genesis, or KC. Thanks for putting this together Bill! #ProgRules.
#ProgRules! Thanks Tim! And I'm very thankful that you, Pete, and Michael jumped in thus far. Makes that much more fun when there's some participation. So what genre's next for a vinyl tag? Vaporwave?
I honestly thought you were joking the other day... and then: horrors! This appears... Actually, you have inspired me to pull the UK album and Selling England By The Pound off the shelves. Interesting stuff Bill. Thanks.
The horror! LOL I HAD to do this. My responses are more on the vanilla side but if you check out Michael P. Dawson and Pete (Sounds from the West Coast) responses wow they both hit home runs with this. I'm thrilled that they both responded to the tag. I hope you enjoy your UK and Selling England listens! They are two favorites of mine. I very much appreciate you watching even though I know Penge and Derrick aren't that keen to prog. Stay well, Alan!
Bill awesome Prog Vinyl Tag man I wish I could participated man you came with some killer picks man I dig the group Yes and the early Genesis and King Crimson also but don’t own any on vinyl I definitely need to make that happen. The only Prog I own is a few Rush and a few Tangerine Dream . That Genesis” Firth of the Fifth “ that Steve Hackett solo is outstanding you pulled some real gems Bill loved it take care. Lovellandrew
Thanks so much Lovell! I appreciate it. Yeah, when I saw the other genre related tags coming out I knew I wanted to do this. It was fun coming up with the questions and answering them. To me Firth of Fifth is one of the ultimate classic prog songs. There's been a few responses to the prog vinyl tag and that makes me happy!
You had to do it, you just had to do it Bill. Way to go. I learned I have some prog. So I was thinking punk rock vinyl tag or world music vinyl tag. I would do that if it didn’t take so much energy lol. Nice job Bill. Steve.
Haha, yep I had to do it! Once I saw the Blues tag start making the rounds I knew more genres would start coming up so I started thinking of questions. I honestly didn't really think there'd be any responses but lo and behold eight other people have jumped onboard! They've been really good too and I've learned a lot. Mazzy's was exceptional if you haven't seen it. Talk soon!
Hey Bill, What a neat idea here! Fitting it'd come through you. :-) Reminded of how little of this music I really know, though a little at least about our beloved Genesis, naturally. :-D I guess I like most where the rock is left behind, sorta like Krautrock too. Nice seeing other favorites here...TD Vangelis. Fitting with Zappa and your gateway choice. Man I need to hear that Jon Anderson solo already! How neat on that Peter Banks. Haven't heard enough of Steven Wilson. I love his remastering job on the TDs for sure though. Of course Mr. Hackett merits that enshrinement. :-) Great ideas here, again. -Carm
Thanks so much Carm! I'm sure there are others that could've done a much better job than me putting this together but I felt an urge to do it. I really found these tag videos to be a lot of fun and a great way to learn about specific genres. They also get you digging through the collection which is always fun. There's been a couple of really excellent responses to this so far. Pete form Sounds of the West Coast and Michael P. Dawson. They really showed a lot of interesting stuff in their responses. I'm so happy that they responded. Ooh, I'm not sure I've heard the Steven Wilson TD remasters. I need to look into that, need to hear them! Thanks again for watching! I hope all is well! PS - I watched your video last night before heading to bed. I'll comment on that one when i can!
New light and mic look and sound great, Bill. It's only right that this tag was created by you! You did a wonderful job putting the questions together and showcasing your picks. I hope that this takes off in the "prog realm" of the VC :)
Thanks so much Emma! I think we're up to 73 vinyl tags that are going around right now. That aside though these tags are, in my view, a lot of fun and they get you digging through your collection. It was hard for me to limit my Genesis responses for this as I could've and wanted to use them for many of the answers. I know you can relate with Cheap Trick. Talk to you in chat! :)
Hello Bill; Who else is more knowledgeable to do a Prog Tag than you. Since the beginning Prog has always been part of your presentations. You could have your own show, (Radio Prog) Some very good Prog rock showings. Each question was answered in an informative way. Well developed tag. Take care. Tina & Pat!~
Thanks so much Tina and Pat. I left a response to your comment but it seems to have disappeared so I'm trying again. I very much appreciate the kind words. I know Prog isn't everyone's thing and honestly I'm not sure how much response this will get but for me I was excited to do this. I enjoyed thinking of the questions and answering them. It's always fun going through the collection. I hope you are both doing great!
Hi Bill!!! this a very cool tag, i really enjoy watching it, however i don't own many prog records, almost zero prog bands, well with the exception of Pink Floyd?? and Dream Theater..... and one Yes cd!!! cheers and thanks for putting this tag.
I both love AND make fun of it. I'm starting to settle that The Yes Album is probably their best album. I think both covers of Octopus are amazing (and I need both). Fruupp/Future Legends - what a cover!
The Yes Album is pretty darn good. Not my favorite of theirs though. I've never owned on record the US version of Octopus. I need to find a copy that isn't beat up. The die cut edges are always very worn when I see them. Yeah, Fruupp have some interesting covers. Future Legends is their best though, musically and cover artwork. Thanks Kris!
Great minds think alike Bill!. I just finished doing the folk one and was working on the questions for a prog one. Good job I didn't film it. Will definitely be having a go at this. Cheers, Pete
Ha! Sorry that I beat you too it. I hope you like the questions Pete! Feel free to swap with any of your own questions if you want. I'm very much looking forward to your response! It's a vinyl tag frenzy right now!
@@TheVinylverse funnily enough a lot of the questions would have been the same Bill. BTW the twins label of Phaedra is Virgin not Vertigo - easy mistake to make. Triumvirat you'll be seeing again if you watch part 16 of my krautrock collection! I'm going to have to think hard about this as you've nicked quite a few that I would have shown 😊. Thanks for setting thus one up.
Oh no you’re so right. How did I make that mistake with Virgin??? Haha, oh well human error. Thanks for pointing it out. I can put a correction in the description.
It's nice that someone mentions "Grobschnitt". They are very well known in Germany, but they never had a breakthrough internationally. And I don't think "Fly From Here" by Yes is as bad as many people do. What the "return trip" was for is a mystery to me.
Fly From Here is pretty enjoyable to me. Grobschnitt are great and yeah, I wish they had more notoriety in the U.S. Thanks for checking this video out. Best wishes to you in 2022.
Great! I have been wondering if there was something like this around and searched for it just a week or so ago. I am building a vinyl collection, but definitely have to research for if possibly dipping into CD collection. Have to do some work on a video... Take care, Richard
A certain person - who shall remain nameless - told me to take you to task over a massive hole in your collection (6 x 6 x 6 in size). Tut, tut Mr Vinylverse you really need to fill that as soon as you can! 😂
Hi Bill, Anyone that laughs at prog doesn't understand it IMHO. I'd say that much of Frank Zappa was prog, though perhaps not intentionally. He didn't seem to be someone that aspired to be part of a 'movement', but he was obviously aware that he was creating something new... hence his involvement with
Talk about a tag you can do you in your sleep. I'm working on getting a 7" single of John Miles '"Music" which will probably be my only prog single if I ever get one, but they're usually from UK sellers. Poke! - Red
Question....how is the Virgin label a variation on the Vertigo label? They are two completely different labels. The only thing they have in common is they were designed by Roger Dean (Vertigo Spaceship).
Yes it was an error on my part. I made a mistake and made a note of it in the description of the video. Felt really stupid about it too. Thanks for watching.

Sure. I don’t recall the name but they are floating shelves I purchased from ikea. They had them in a couple of wood finish options as well.
