    It's not the math that is difficult, it is the way they ask the questions. Just like SAT math. It isn't the math that's hard, it's the confusing nature of the question...just like AP calc.

    Here's my input on this accuplacer study guide: Some of these questions were very similar to the actual test. Not everyone will advance to this part of the math accuplacer! If you score to low on the first part, which is elementary algebra, you won't advance to the college level math. I took this yesterday and I advanced. The college level test wasn't as hard as I imagined it would be! I studied and prepared for two weeks. As stated before, some of these questions were on there were similar to this. Majority of them are not on the test.

      Arxaion Yeah the test is dumb, I took one in my junior year, but I passed, but it was really hard for me, I couldn't think straight, and I had used like 3 pages front and back worth of math work, not including mental math, and calculations done with the calculator..
      I got a 3 on my math which means I'm "conditionally" ready for college level math, aka I need to take a math course for my final year and pass with a C, which will be AP Stats..
      And for English I got a 4, so that means I'm ready for College level English.
      But goodluck don't sweat the test if you haven't taken it, I didn't study at all for it..

    I just took a math assessment test today, although it wasn't the Accuplacer xD Nevertheless, I found this to be incredibly helpful and I ended up getting a 91/100 on the College Level math portion which I find funny considering I did slightly worse on the lover level math portions ._. Well, I guess that's because I didn't review my older math and only focused on the College Level material. Based on my scores and my overconfidence during the exam, I can say with 100% certainty that I probably wouldn't have landed into my desired Calculus classes if it wasn't for your videos. So thank you very much!

  • @The2Coolest2

    The first problem takes 3 lines. Simply factor out the 2^(3/2), you'll get (2^(3/2))*(2^(2/2) - 1) which simplifies to 2^(3/2)* (2 - 1) = 2^(3/2) * 1 = 2^(3/2)

      Amen!  This may be the proper way, but very long-winded.  By changing them to improper fractions, 9/2 - 7/2 = 5/2  Then revert it back giving you the answer of 2 1/2. Quick, easy and makes sense to me.

    so I just did the practice test version of question 3 and it was done completely differently on there so i am so confused
    and for question 5 it says the answer is 3x=2y, but that makes no sense since when you substitute (3,2) it won't end up with the same number!!!

    So i was excited to try your interactive practice test and i ran into a few problems. Question one doesn't function properly. When i pick the right answer it says it is wrong. so could you please explain to me question one along with the correct answer. (Q1 --- 3^7/3 - 3^4/3) AND question four does not contain an answer choice that is correct. The answer you marked as correct is (y=3x-7) but that does not pass through the origin.

      Agreed! I got confused a bit with the correct answer of question 1, is it 2 or is the improper fraction based example given to be as 2 3/4? Clarity's needed.

    Number 1, the "harder way" seems to be way easier. If elementary kids understand the first way, cause it's apparently the "easier way to do it" then I must be in real trouble, cause what the heck is all of that?!? My brain doesn't seem to comprehend the "elementary" way of doing it at all :'(

    Apparently using 2+-√16.5 /6 or it's 2 +-4i.5 /6 doesn't work because when I simplify it I'll get 1+-2i.5 /3 so I have to do it a specific way then.

  • @Jules_B1
    @Jules_B1 7 років тому

    no. 3 was easy to do bruh there was no need to use idk i
    I will show how to do it
    I will just jump to x=(2+_√-80)÷6
    note 6 divides both 2 and. √-80
    therefore
    x=(2/6)+_(√-80/6)
    therefore it will be
    (x-2/6)=(√-80/6)
    (x-1/3)=√-80/6)
    since that we have square root at the right side so we square both sides like this. 👇
    (x-1/3)^2=(√-80/6)^
    2
    therefore
    (x-1/3)^2= -20/9
    so ans will be same as urs but some people do not know abt complex number theory so I suggest this is best way to do it
    thanks.

    I have a question, in question number 4, when your checking to see if it has the quotient of 2. You don't take the -2 from 2x -2y=2 and do 2/-2 as -2/2 since theres a minus before the quotient, you don't cancel it out, or is it negative no matter what?

    • @mathsgotserved
      @mathsgotserved  7 років тому

      Yes it is negative no matter what. You could have -(2/2) , -2/2, or 2/-2 they all yield -1

    • @mathsgotserved
      @mathsgotserved  9 років тому

    • @tenzingjigmey4791
      @tenzingjigmey4791 9 років тому

      Never mind. I got it. My question is every time you work on that problem, do you have to use the formula -a/b? Other question is regarding the question #3. Do i have to use the formula x=-b+_ square root b2-4ac/2a overtime when it can be factor?

    • @tenzingjigmey4791
      @tenzingjigmey4791 9 років тому

      when it can't be factor?

    • @mathsgotserved
      @mathsgotserved  9 років тому

      Oh I think I get you now. The original problem is y=2x which implies that the slope is 2 because in y=mx+b form m=2. Now when you are looking at the options we are considering A and B of the form Ax+By=C. The values of A and B vary for each option. For option C for example we have 2x-y=4. This can be written as 2x+(-1)y=4. So in this case - A/B=-(2/-1)=2. Does this make sense?

    at 16:30 i felt as if the whole "X = 1/3" was just a step to confuse me or an extra step and when you did put it as ( X - 1/3) you did not add the *square* to (X - 1/3) but you only *squared* it strictly to get rid of the other equation: plus/minus 2i and square root of 5 divided by three.
    im so confused :( sorry for being rude... i am just lost.

    I might sound like a idiot but I'm unsure of what the last one was the "tests" that are done in the problem it makes absolute sense but i don't know which points are getting tested, my question is probably unclear as well.: EDIT I got it now so you plug in origin, X1 and y1 into the equation if it's equal that part is true, then plugin point, x2 and y2 if both sides pass the "test" that's your awnser.
