I remember few years back after my wife died, I was left alone with 3 kids. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with bipolar. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment changed my life for better. I can proudly say i'm totally clean for 6 years and still counting. Always look to nature for solution to tough problems, Shrooms are phenomenal.
I love hearing great life changing stories like this. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (most especially the psychedelic ones) There are so many people today used magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.
Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped you. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source 🙏
YES sure of mycologist Predroshrooms. I have the same experience with anxiety, addiction. Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
I'm so very happy for you mate, Psilocybin is absolutely amazing, the way it shows you things, the way it teaches you things. I can not believe our world and our people shows less interest about it's helpfulness to humanity. It's love. The mushrooms heals people by showing the truth, it would be so beneficial for so many people, especially politicians and the rich who have lost their way and every other persons out there.
My recovery journey was greatly enhanced by the therapeutic benefits of mushrooms. Other psychedelics like DMT and LSD have also proven to be remarkable.
I picked magic mushrooms every October in Sussex where I live back in the 80s and 90s. Liberty Caps is an American name because they are shaped like the Liberty Bell. We called them Witches Tits. Far superior name.
The mushroom takes its common name from the Phrygian cap, also known as the "liberty cap", which has been worn throughout much of eastern Europe and the middle east.
Well thanks for the information below. I was looking to use it to help battle my alcohol problems but again,I’m not confident about buying illegal substances over the internet in a state that classifies them as class one felonies. How do I know it is not a DEA trap. Instead, the state of Oregon in setting up clinics where you can dose. By the middle of 2023 they should be up and running. A plane flight to relief
Some more handy bits of information: - Remember to flick the mushroom before you pick it, as it helps spread the spores for next year. Also, don't pull the entire mushroom from the "root". Instead, slice it with your fingernail from where the stem meets the soil. This is known as the "pick and flick" rules/method. If you're just passing through an area that's abundant with them (or you're in an incredible rush) then you can just pull it all, but if you do there's no guarantee that next year they'll grow again. - Micro-dosing (eating 2-5 liberty caps, not 25 - you won't feel high but that's the point) can be a great idea for creativity. Usually, a microdose is 1/8th to 1/10th of a "normal dose". A "normal" dose - what I'm referring to - is just over a threshold dose. Some people may like to eat heroic doses and 1/10th of that would still get plenty of people really high, so I set the number at 2 or 3, or 4, or 5 caps. Other psilocybin species has the dose set at 1 mushroom for a trip, but these are different species of psilocybin, and are huge compared to tiny liberty caps). - A standard dose is around 30 liberty caps though I've felt a noticeable high with 15 (my first time taking them). - Check the laws where you live. In the UK, dried mushrooms are a class-A drug (psilocybin). It used to be legal to be in possession of fresh mushrooms (which is how they were sold in Camden Market - from fresh mushroom incubators) but that isn't the case any more. If you're caught in possession of even freshly picked mushrooms you may be charged with possession of a controlled substance. - They can help with very bad headaches/migraines including the "incurable" cluster headaches (as can LSD) but people who suffer this "untreatable" illness are not allowed to relieve themselves from the pain because of the laws surrounding psilocybin. - Laws surrounding mushrooms are completely idiotic, considering it's a natural substance that grows from the earth. These stupid laws are made by people who need to try these wonderful little natural bounties more than anyone else. - Keeping mushrooms require that you dry them, which will preserve the mushroom and stop fly eggs hatching into maggots on their flesh. Remember to wash them too. - When you eat them, it may feel like there's bits of soil in them. A friend of mine describes them as being "gritty". This is normal - so don't worry that your tooth has chipped (which is exactly what it feels like - same texture and sound). - You can eat them like normal mushrooms or brew them into tea. I knew people that liked them on a pizza. - Psilocybin are being used to great success in clinical trials with people who have terminal diseases and have very bad anxiety at the thought of death. After taking psilocybin mushrooms, around 75% of people lose this anxiety (source: Professor David Nutt). Most importantly be safe and have fun.
@@phildoodler2199 I don't see anything wrong with frying them. They more or less taste like normal mushrooms you eat except for those gritty parts although I've never cooked them like that, there were plenty of people I knew who treated them like normal. For tea you buy a pair of woman tights (or pantyhose if you're American) and put them in that as a strainer. Just add boiling water and let it stew then loads of sugar and honey and down the hatch. Some people get nauseous when taking them. Some people might vomit with tea but be fine eating it with food. Or vice-versa. I honestly cannot attest to smoking mushrooms but I doubt it works. Psilocybin and DMT are the exact same molecule (although DMT is far far stronger and a different high) except for an extra oxygen. That extra oxygen lets your stomach break it down, except with DMT you need an MAOI if you're going to take it orally (ayahuasca/yáge). Best just sticking to tried and tested methods.
@@phildoodler2199 Start at 30. That'll be about 2g. you could take 50, which would be about 3.5g but I'd start at 30 at most. The first time I tried them I only took about 15-20 and felt a lovely glow off them. A little like MDMA but once you go to a higher dose it's own unique effects come into play. If you start small and ramp it up the next night/week, you'll know which way is best for you to ingest them: as tea, with food or on their own. That feeling of nausea can be worrying if it's your first time - you might think you've picked something poisonous and it may upset you, which you don't want. Mushrooms are more forgiving than LSD (like MDMA, they're a fantastic "entry" to psychedelics) but people can still find them problematic. Also, pay attention to the "set and setting" rules. Do you know what that means?
Best mushroom identification video EVER. LOVED the quick, and THOROUGH, “quiz” or tutorial at the end. I wish every edible mushroom video had this feature. It’s really helpful. THANKS!
this is the most responsible mushroom identify video I have ever seen. I was thinking 30minutes video just for one mushroom? But after look through all the look alike. yes, I need 30 minutes.
A point about the stem: The Liberty cap's stem should not snap in two, when you wind it around your finger. It may break, but it should hang together by it's internal fibres, like when you break a straw of grass. If the stem easily breaks in two, it is not a liberty cap. This must not be used as the only point of identification, but it is an easy way of dismissing lookalikes.
@@Nothing-mu9ys No that aspect is true about the stem. Liberty caps don't snap very easily at all and will snap back to place more often then not. I would NOT use that method alone. It's lookalike does not do this however. Edit: The best check is to see if it just bruises blue or almost blue-black. The bruise is near instant.
As I said, this is not a method for positive identification but for ruling out other little brown mushrooms. If the lookalikes are poisonous is not the point. You NEVER eat mushrooms that you aren't sure about. There are so many species that could be misidentified as liberty caps. Many of them are poisonous, but I couldn't identify them all. You see the difference between -positive identification- and -dismissing-? Foraging and identifying mushrooms is a process of going down a checklist (mental or in a book), of key details. Learn to positively identify those mushrooms you intend to eat. That means you learn their key features, what to look for. Some features (like snapping stem) can be used to dismiss a specimen as a certain species but No single features can be used to make a positive identification. Everything you can't positively identify should be regarded as poisonous, always.
I was lucky enough to have clicked on this video as my first introduction and I need not search further. Pure and to the point... or cap! Thanks to The Forest!!
Thanks! Personally I have noticed that looking for mushrooms is something that at least some ADHD minds seem unusually well suited to! In a way, the ADHD way of being can feel like foraging, on the move, hunting for the next little hit of stimulation. That can be very difficult in many contexts, but is perfect for finding liberty caps.
@@theforest3484 I think us with ADHD are more directly descendants of hunters and gathers, yes we all are related but its the sort of skills that would have been useful in a way... the always being aware of everything going on and getting distracted by the smallest things!
I think anyone who has watched this video and taken every lesson firmly into mind and succeeded in the identification section ,should feel confident enough to go and take a look for themselves. Superb video..extremely well made and just brilliantly done. A fantastic service to foragers.
That's bloody brilliant. Honestly I had my reservations at the beginning but by jove I'm glad I stuck with it the whole format of "ding" when it's the right one. I'll definitely remember most of the ID features now. Dogs will be getting a good walk this weekend. Thanks!
Not just the best magic mushroom ID video on YT, but the best single mushroom ID instructional video full-stop. The last 10 minutes in particular are superb, illustrating exactly the thought-process the cautious mushroom forager runs through each time.
You can't overdose on mushrooms alone . You can definitely eat the wrong mushroom and get poisoning from that, but no one has ever died from psilocybin OD
@@MirableHarison Yeah I know that right, dr.jackshroom has been my supplier for over months now.. He delivers anywhere and also discreet .. if you're scared about that.
This is an amazingly educational video. I'm glad that you've made people aware of the fake psilocybe pictures in articles. You've also really helped show the differences between some of the closest lookalikes to liberty caps.
This is the best and clearest video I've ever seen on identifying liberty cap. I really appreciate the skill and work that went into producing it. Thank you.
Thank you so much for making this video, I did a lot of research on liberty caps last foraging season and found it almost impossible, your video is an incredibly meaningful step in the right direction for the internet as a whole.
I suspect microdosing may have an effect on mood, and over time it might build up resilience or improve well-being, But I don't think it will rapidly be legalized.
BEST GUIDE IVE FOUND!! A copy things you could of added about picking like you should always flick them before picking & snip them not pull the out the ground if you want to use that location to Pick again next year!!
This is a great part of shrooming culture! But actually, there's debate if it actually makes any difference... though I appreciate it as a ritual. Some studies say no difference (see link). But it can't do any harm. For beginners collecting unfamiliar edible mushrooms though, it can be worthwhile to pick the whole mushroom because the base can give identification clues. This isn't so relevant to liberty caps. www.conservationevidence.com/individual-study/230#:~:text=Plucking%20mushrooms%20entailed%20removing%20the,avoid%20disturbance%20by%20mushroom%20pickers.
It's not necessary. Picking a mushroom is like picking an apple, the mycelium extends far beyond, if you picked it with a shovel it would be no different.
Simply brilliant content. The camera work, the editing, the information and the presentation. I'm a novice "picker"so this is invaluable to me. Thank you!
If you get an OS map of your local area, look for fields with names like springfield or that have a spring nearby, this is often a good sign there might be mushrooms found there. Also if you've been going to a particular field for years, and you find none, go up wind to other fields, mushrooms can move. Wear a hat when picking, great to put mushrooms in and if your interrupted by land owners etc, bung it on your head, "what magic mushrooms squire?" & "I'm looking for field mushrooms" or "I'm a student mycologist looking for agiricus species and sign's of symbiosis" : ) Lastly, picking mushrooms can be a spiritual experience, treat the land with respect, no breaking down fences or leaving gates open, or dropping litter, you'll just fuck it up for yourself and others. Happy picking.
I mean the last part should be a no brainier to anyone even just going out walking. Its such a shame it has to be said because of all the dick heads who ruin the countryside.
I live in Springfeild road in Dorset and at the bottom of it there is an old grave yard where the graze sheep to keep the grass down 🤔 thank you wellies on tomorrow 😁
Psilocybin containing mushrooms saved my life. The drastically reduced my benzodiazepine withdrawal allowing me to quite illicit pill addiction after three years of heavy daily use before it would had became medically dangerous to quit. It has also helped me survive depression.

@Lillian Victoria I was having this constant, unbearable anxiety due to work stress. Not until I came across *dr.jeromespores* a very intelligent mycologist. He saved my life honestly

Beautiful Trichocerious towers you have growing behind you.... :) This vid is (by far) the BEST presentation for identifying Lib Caps.... I love the little "ding" sound, it offers a "conditioning" component to the instruction that helps it "stick" into the mind on a deep level... I can't wait to pass this on.... SO COMPREHENSIVE AND PRECISE!
One of the best videos I've found on identifying liberty caps. Detailed and informative. Leaves you more confident your going to collect the right ones. Thank you
The advice, not to pick is the best, I have ever heard. The video shows me that I never found a liberty cap until now. I saw all the various forms you show us. All wasn't the right species! Thanks for the high quality!
Only just taking a massive interest into liberty caps, very informative and well structured video, really appreciate your out here to help keep people safe👊🏻
Instant Subscribe. This saves me all the time I normally use viewing multiple sources. The comparison and practice segment is brilliant. Best video without question (and I haven't even seen any others). Cheers from Germany
This is the best video/tutorial on how to identify a specific mushroom, ever! Thank you for that. I think the idea of displaying an icon of magic mushrooms along with the sound when the proper mushroom is shown is an excellent one. Also, the quiz at the end is a brilliant and very helpful idea. Absolutely the best instructional video of that sort. Thanks for that, again!
Best recognition video i've ever seen ! It's the first time i feel i could actually recognise the plant after watching the video ! The long exercise at the end is very effective, thanks !
This is a really good and well made guide! Thank you so much. After this I scored 98% correct in an online test for recognizing Semilanceatas, before I struggled to go past 85%.
This should be essential viewing for any budding mycophile or beginner forager who is interested in these little treasures of the British countryside. I only wish I had this last year; it would have helped to no end in sorting sneaky mottlegills from the libs but I'm glad that it's here now for the season ahead! 🍄 Excellent work and happy hunting
To the creator. There are bots trolling your channel scamming people who watch/comment. Hopefully you continue to make identification of mycology content for the people like me who enjoy the hobby.

What an incredible video. I have not tried finding any in the wild yet, but because of this video, I am now a certified expert. [Confirming Liberty cap chime sound]
Thank you! I used to do shrooms quite a few years ago and always enjoyed them. But I was just telling a friend the other day I would like to find some mushrooms. I've dealt with some severe anxiety and stress and know they would help. I'm a songwriter and am having trouble for the first time in my life of having writers block and know some majic mushrooms would help with that also. I understand why you made the video intentionally long, for our own good. To drill it in our heads so as not to make a mistake, possibly a trajic one. I feel like I have confidence to pick the Liberty one's from the others. Thanks again! You will make my day, hopefully soon! ♥️☮️🍄
Damn man...this is some top-level content! Thank you, Sir! I'm fairly new to the wonderful world of liberty cap shroom appreciation and this video was extremely helpful!
I will say though you're wrong about parks, one of my best spots is a park. Cricket pitches, golf courses, race courses and parks can all be amazing and defiantly worth a check.
Yes, there are some good spots like that. However, in all the online places where newbies post pictures of finds, there's loads of hopeful people who stumble upon mushrooms in their garden or nearby urban park, and virtually none of those will be liberty caps. Whereas out in the fields and moors there's a better hit-rate. I want beginners to understand that the chances of the first mushroom they see in a park or grass verge being a liberty cap is very low. Could be worth checking tho, you're right! Thanks for commenting.
Les endroits dont tu parles sont tous fréquentés par des chevaux ou l'ont été par des bovins dans le passé ,donc cela m'etonne pas si tu y trouves des magic champi !
The best video In my opinion for helping beginners identify libs. Been taking psychedelics for years but never been confident enough to pick my own but after this I'm going to me boots on and go find em.
I absolutely loved this video! Was the best one I’ve seen yet to help guide. I liked how the liberty cap symbol popped up for each identifiable one in the video, very helpful thank you!
wow!!! what an amazing video - beautifully documented. Time flew by when I was watching it, super engaging. Thanks a lot, I feel so much more confident going out by myself to forage liberty caps.
This is such an awesome start to a channel, I can't wait to see what else you make. If you had more videos I know it would be a long binge of your content after watching this
Got to agree with many other commenters… this was such an incredibly thorough easily understandable, & diligent presentation of how to identify liberty caps!! As someone who has never before known about them at all & also with them lacking that distinctive blueing quality the advice that one must tick off all the specific identifying features is brilliant!! Thank u so much!!!
Very informative and well executed video. If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then hundreds of pictures combined with knowledgable commentary is priceless.
I don't plan on collecting any mushrooms but it is nice to be able to identify them , Thanks for the great video. I'm slowly considering mushroom identification as a new hobby and this was a fun place to start.
Yes! For me, mushroom identification was an interest long before psychedelics were. Lots of mushroom users go the opposite direction. Mushroom use leads to being fascinated by fungi. Check out the book Entangled Life.
I love this video. Although it is about "magic mushrooms", it is remarkably good as a model for how to teach species identification of all sorts. By the end of the video I felt very confident in my ability to correctly identify liberty cap mushrooms. I would, however, want to watch it again just before going into the wild to refresh my memory. Brilliantly done, thank you.
After I lost my best friend I’ve been stagnant and lost … depression and anxiety almost killed me The name on my channel 👆🏼 saved me with magicmushrooms and psychedelic products reach out to him …
Thank you for posting this! It’s obvious that a lot of work went into it. This is the best video around about mushroom id. I’d love to learn about other mushrooms as well. I hope you’ll have time to post more ❤️
Thanks! I am already making one for next season on another psychoactive mushroom, but maybe should do edibles... though there's already good content out there. I like Galloway Wild Foods.
Outstanding video! I am just starting to learn about mushroom identification. This is the kind of content I can tell is thorough, and will keep me safe. I brought home 7 different mushrooms on my first outing, and couldn't figure out any of them, and had to compost them. Of course now I know, I need to be taking notes, and observing everything. This has a feeling like looking for treasure, that only the wise and patient can find. I like that. It seems like a therapeutic hobbie that will make me pick up a book, and put down my phone. Thanks for your thorough video on this mushroom!
Hello! I live In the uk and I am trying to start my journey. I suffer from severe adhd and I would like to speak to someone who have some experience about liberty caps. How do you feel?
This is an absolutely brilliant video for the identification of liberty cap mushrooms for educational and safety purposes. Amazing, love the test at the end.
Loved this video, thank you so much, but I did want to add that Liberty caps also grow on playing fields. Not all of course, as some have been sprayed with fungicide but I have found many over the past few years on a playing field near me. Nevertheless, thank you for this once again ✨
Great video! You are a good teacher in this class!I started to pick this one, back in 1982, I think! I just ate the ones I found, until I got to 25, and I was starting to feel waves of something different from usual mind. Although I have taken psychedelic mushrooms countless times, all together, I will always remember the first time! It's easy to dry them! But they can also be preserved with honey or be frozen in doses. I think it was legal the first time. But, I have not been bothered by cops in the pastures they are found, at any time.
Psychedelic’s definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it’s just so hard to source here
Psychedelics are the reason why i didn’t take my life when i was at my end. I was stripped of my ego and saw the beauty of life and interconnectivity and even though i still battle anxiety and depression, I’m doing better everyday and will never think in such a self destructive way again.
LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."
i want that *pling* sound effect to play when i find them in real life PS you deserve so many views PPS i checked out your site but i'm not really sure what exactly it's about? are you just establishing an online community that offers advice or what?
Haha after editing the video I think the *pling* played in my dreams... Thanks for checking out the website! We'll be growing it as fast as we can (afford without investors), so check back! We've got lots planned depending on how much we can grow. The aspiration is to support users to access all they want (info, advice, community, eventually facilitation etc) outside of the limited currently available models for support that don't suit everyone- pricey commercial Retreats (my old career) or research/clinic, or spiritual communities etc. On a donate-what-you-can basis.
Wow. I have enjoyed finding many liberty caps in my time but I didn’t know about the mottlegills. I wonder if I ever mistook any for liberty caps. There was just one or was it two that you showed that I second guessed myself on. Thanks for this awareness🧡🍄🍄🍄
West susex and hampshire are mushroom central atm. found probably 3000 in about 7 hours spread over last 2 weeks. My mum eats them for cluster headaches - only 30 a year and they never come back. Ive finding some huge ones this week. The ones that look identical but yellow are sterile libs aparantly? indntical ca=lassic shaper but just an odd colour. Ive been picking since I was 13. some people just cant get it right no matter how much practice where as others can. Out of 3000ish ever one was correct on 2nd inspections at home. Wathert ATM down south are perfect right now. mild and damp and no frost. enen y local village green and football pitch produced about 200 last week, only small but easy to find due to small grass.
Yes, I've heard about Sussex being excellent right now! Kudos for helping your mother with a very terrible condition. Sterile libs exist, but may be worth ignoring because often people think other mushrooms (e.g. dry galerina graminea) are sterile libs when they are not. It's possible those are toxic.
@nick Ellingham no idea really... I haven't heard of any cases of serious harm but since people report unpleasant effects that could influence a trip, seems sensible to avoid manky ones, especially if you're finding 500 an hour!
@nick Ellingham some bacteria will survive drying, but also some of the sickness caused by bacteria comes not from the bacteria infecting you, but from toxins the bacteria make, which would survive drying. That's why cooked rice shouldn't be eaten several days even if it's reheated killing all the germs.
I really appreciate your deep sense of responsibility regarding your advice you are giving people. Cheers for that. There is alot of very potentially dangerous clickbait info on the internet these days . Best of luck to you.
Nice one mate, it'd been a good few yes since I went picking before last week-ish & went to a totally different place than I normally would (pretty high up in the lakes)...I've been into picking & consuming shroomz for decades without any kind of indecisiveness as I did the last time I went (more the environment I think) as the amount of 'looky likies' I wasn't risking seemed massive compared to the 'glory dayz🍄🙏' haha I just saw soooo many that weren't but if you didn't have much experience would of most likely of picked, this was a great little'refresher' vid for me, I know a lib when I see one but the amount of fake libs* out there I thought was growing🤣. So thanks for this video, much gratitude from us old timers as well as newcomers very informative👍🙏🍄🍄🍄💚

I picked magic mushrooms every October in Sussex where I live back in the 80s and 90s. Liberty Caps is an American name because they are shaped like the Liberty Bell.
We called them Witches Tits. Far superior name.
Far far superior
The mushroom takes its common name from the Phrygian cap, also known as the "liberty cap", which has been worn throughout much of eastern Europe and the middle east.
That's a great name! I wonder if the phrase "cold as a witch's tit" refers to the mushroom rather than the bosoms of a Wicca practitioner.

I would also state that this video is specific to liberty caps. There are many other species that do not share the same morphology.

Some more handy bits of information:
- Remember to flick the mushroom before you pick it, as it helps spread the spores for next year.
Can you fry them? Does doing so reduce their efficacy. How do you make tea with them? Can you smoke them ?
@@raoulduke344 cheers. How many individual mushrooms do you need to ingest to get a visionary trip?
@@raoulduke344 set and setting ? Nope, don’t know what that means. Just so I’ve got this - 30 separate mushrooms? That’s sounds quite a lot.

A point about the stem:
The Liberty cap's stem should not snap in two, when you wind it around your finger. It may break, but it should hang together by it's internal fibres, like when you break a straw of grass.
If the stem easily breaks in two, it is not a liberty cap.
This must not be used as the only point of identification, but it is an easy way of dismissing lookalikes.
Lookalikes poisonous?
This info might not be true so if your reading this, maybe do some other tests
@@frankrizzo2724 I believe it might be considered poisonous but I'm not sure. I just know people don't eat the look alike.
This is the best guide I've ever seen/read on liberty caps. Very easy to follow, definitely learned some new things !

Eat the first few you find, and the pling will announce more :D
It DOES!
Most comprehensive identification video I’ve ever seen, I hope others follow suit, thanks
I really appreciate your deep sense of responsibility regarding your advice you are giving people. Cheers for that. There is alot of very potentially dangerous clickbait info on the internet these days . Best of luck to you.
Top job with this brilliant public safety guide. Always best to walk away from any mushroom that you're not 100% sure of.
Any advice on other types of magic mushroom identification within the UK? Fascinated by wavy caps but wouldn't want to risk anything :)
It's a fantastic year for all mushrooms... More lookalikes than ever. Thanks for your kind comments!
The best vid I've seen on the subject. Well done.
So far, by far the most informative piece of info I have come across. Thank you especially for the test at the end. It was really helpful. I will watch again and again, buy even by watching it only once, I. Already feel very comfortable in identifying libs. Thank you.
