WARNING;- Many scammers are posting in the comments offering to sell mushrooms and other substances. They will take your money, but there is no way to be sure they will provide anything at all, let alone a safe product. Please do not support these scammers.
Some more handy bits of information:
- Remember to flick the mushroom before you pick it, as it helps spread the spores for next year. Also, don't pull the entire mushroom from the "root". Instead, slice it with your fingernail from where the stem meets the soil. This is known as the "pick and flick" rules/method. If you're just passing through an area that's abundant with them (or you're in an incredible rush) then you can just pull it all, but if you do there's no guarantee that next year they'll grow again.
- Micro-dosing (eating 2-5 liberty caps, not 25 - you won't feel high but that's the point) can be a great idea for creativity. Usually, a microdose is 1/8th to 1/10th of a "normal dose". A "normal" dose - what I'm referring to - is just over a threshold dose. Some people may like to eat heroic doses and 1/10th of that would still get plenty of people really high, so I set the number at 2 or 3, or 4, or 5 caps. Other psilocybin species has the dose set at 1 mushroom for a trip, but these are different species of psilocybin, and are huge compared to tiny liberty caps).
- A standard dose is around 30 liberty caps though I've felt a noticeable high with 15 (my first time taking them).
- Check the laws where you live. In the UK, dried mushrooms are a class-A drug (psilocybin). It used to be legal to be in possession of fresh mushrooms (which is how they were sold in Camden Market - from fresh mushroom incubators) but that isn't the case any more. If you're caught in possession of even freshly picked mushrooms you may be charged with possession of a controlled substance.
- They can help with very bad headaches/migraines including the "incurable" cluster headaches (as can LSD) but people who suffer this "untreatable" illness are not allowed to relieve themselves from the pain because of the laws surrounding psilocybin.
- Laws surrounding mushrooms are completely idiotic, considering it's a natural substance that grows from the earth. These stupid laws are made by people who need to try these wonderful little natural bounties more than anyone else.
- Keeping mushrooms require that you dry them, which will preserve the mushroom and stop fly eggs hatching into maggots on their flesh. Remember to wash them too.
- When you eat them, it may feel like there's bits of soil in them. A friend of mine describes them as being "gritty". This is normal - so don't worry that your tooth has chipped (which is exactly what it feels like - same texture and sound).
- You can eat them like normal mushrooms or brew them into tea. I knew people that liked them on a pizza.
- Psilocybin are being used to great success in clinical trials with people who have terminal diseases and have very bad anxiety at the thought of death. After taking psilocybin mushrooms, around 75% of people lose this anxiety (source: Professor David Nutt).
Most importantly be safe and have fun.
Can you fry them? Does doing so reduce their efficacy. How do you make tea with them? Can you smoke them ?
@@phildoodler2199 I don't see anything wrong with frying them. They more or less taste like normal mushrooms you eat except for those gritty parts although I've never cooked them like that, there were plenty of people I knew who treated them like normal.
For tea you buy a pair of woman tights (or pantyhose if you're American) and put them in that as a strainer. Just add boiling water and let it stew then loads of sugar and honey and down the hatch.
Some people get nauseous when taking them. Some people might vomit with tea but be fine eating it with food. Or vice-versa.
I honestly cannot attest to smoking mushrooms but I doubt it works. Psilocybin and DMT are the exact same molecule (although DMT is far far stronger and a different high) except for an extra oxygen. That extra oxygen lets your stomach break it down, except with DMT you need an MAOI if you're going to take it orally (ayahuasca/yáge).
Best just sticking to tried and tested methods.
@@raoulduke344 cheers. How many individual mushrooms do you need to ingest to get a visionary trip?
@@phildoodler2199 Start at 30. That'll be about 2g. you could take 50, which would be about 3.5g but I'd start at 30 at most.
The first time I tried them I only took about 15-20 and felt a lovely glow off them. A little like MDMA but once you go to a higher dose it's own unique effects come into play.
If you start small and ramp it up the next night/week, you'll know which way is best for you to ingest them: as tea, with food or on their own. That feeling of nausea can be worrying if it's your first time - you might think you've picked something poisonous and it may upset you, which you don't want.
Mushrooms are more forgiving than LSD (like MDMA, they're a fantastic "entry" to psychedelics) but people can still find them problematic.
Also, pay attention to the "set and setting" rules. Do you know what that means?
@@raoulduke344 set and setting ? Nope, don’t know what that means. Just so I’ve got this - 30 separate mushrooms? That’s sounds quite a lot.
Fair play. Crystal clarity and some great advice. Keeping a lot of kids safer than any government guidelines ever will. Respect!
Haha.yeah this video wasnt around in the late 80s😳

@@rajadasdeviento4000

@@snowyowl6892 You skipped the first step and went straight to the "well, have it your way, but I want a treat" kind of posture. They shouldn't be taking money from us like they do. Also because they don't know how to spend it.
There's government guidelines on identifying psychedelic mushrooms?
I picked magic mushrooms every October in Sussex where I live back in the 80s and 90s. Liberty Caps is an American name because they are shaped like the Liberty Bell.
We called them Witches Tits. Far superior name.
Far far superior
The mushroom takes its common name from the Phrygian cap, also known as the "liberty cap", which has been worn throughout much of eastern Europe and the middle east.
That's a great name! I wonder if the phrase "cold as a witch's tit" refers to the mushroom rather than the bosoms of a Wicca practitioner.
Hi, Im from sussex myself and could use your input.

Psilocybin trips happen to be some of the greatest experiences of my entire life.
Anybody who has undergone intend psilocybin therapy will understand that trying to get life changing therapeutic benefits of psychedelics without the trip is laughable.that’s what rattles you out of depression.
Dmt showed me the future of humanity. I was shown every mathematical equation written in every language that ever existed, I lived the life of every creature. I felt like I was gone for a million years. I was a dinosaur with an elephant trunk that lived on a planet with a blue sun and red vegetation. I heard colors and saw sounds. @briansmith3392How did you get the shrooms?
Shrooms are the safest recreational drug to take, it should be legalized.

I have never tried magic mushrooms before. is it similar to DMT? How do people feel like on them?
I have been an amateur mycologist for over forty years, this is the best video on the subject of liberty caps out there. Very well thought out.
I would also state that this video is specific to liberty caps. There are many other species that do not share the same morphology.
Well thanks for the information below. I was looking to use it to help battle my alcohol problems but again,I’m not confident about buying illegal substances over the internet in a state that classifies them as class one felonies. Psilocybin is an ancient and powerful medicine. It is amusing that “modern” medicine is only now trying to understand what Indigenous people have know for a millennia.
Psychedelic help a lot and they’re like a cheat sheet to life, but you could also experience the same things. Psychedelic amp tf out whilst being sober, meditation and astral projection are key.
Ive always been open to try and see what is really beyond, what is brought out through atoms and particles in the reality of what we live in. And just open up my consciousness to a whole new plane, but how do you get ahold em?
Heard of dr_xzavier.?
On IG?
Yeah, dr_xzavier.
Psilocybin, LSD, shrooms and ketamine are absolutely life changing substances that have so much potential to help people with mental health issues.
You can't overdose on mushrooms alone . You can definitely eat the wrong mushroom and get poisoning from that, but no one has ever died from psilocybin OD

A point about the stem:
The Liberty cap's stem should not snap in two, when you wind it around your finger. It may break, but it should hang together by it's internal fibres, like when you break a straw of grass.
If the stem easily breaks in two, it is not a liberty cap.
This must not be used as the only point of identification, but it is an easy way of dismissing lookalikes.
Lookalikes poisonous?
This info might not be true so if your reading this, maybe do some other tests
@@frankrizzo2724 I believe it might be considered poisonous but I'm not sure. I just know people don't eat the look alike.
@@Nothing-mu9ys No that aspect is true about the stem. Liberty caps don't snap very easily at all and will snap back to place more often then not. I would NOT use that method alone. It's lookalike does not do this however.
Edit: The best check is to see if it just bruises blue or almost blue-black. The bruise is near instant.
As I said, this is not a method for positive identification but for ruling out other little brown mushrooms.
If the lookalikes are poisonous is not the point. You NEVER eat mushrooms that you aren't sure about. There are so many species that could be misidentified as liberty caps. Many of them are poisonous, but I couldn't identify them all.
You see the difference between -positive identification- and -dismissing-?
Foraging and identifying mushrooms is a process of going down a checklist (mental or in a book), of key details.
Learn to positively identify those mushrooms you intend to eat. That means you learn their key features, what to look for.
Some features (like snapping stem) can be used to dismiss a specimen as a certain species but No single features can be used to make a positive identification.
Everything you can't positively identify should be regarded as poisonous, always.
Best mushroom identification video EVER. LOVED the quick, and THOROUGH, “quiz” or tutorial at the end. I wish every edible mushroom video had this feature. It’s really helpful. THANKS!
I suspect microdosing may have an effect on mood, and over time it might build up resilience or improve well-being, But I don't think it will rapidly be legalized.
But make no mistake: Psilocybin has a number of potential medical benefits.
I learned more about myself on one trip than I have through over a year of therapy.

If you get an OS map of your local area, look for fields with names like springfield or that have a spring nearby, this is often a good sign there might be mushrooms found there. Also if you've been going to a particular field for years, and you find none, go up wind to other fields, mushrooms can move. Wear a hat when picking, great to put mushrooms in and if your interrupted by land owners etc, bung it on your head, "what magic mushrooms squire?" & "I'm looking for field mushrooms" or "I'm a student mycologist looking for agiricus species and sign's of symbiosis" : ) Lastly, picking mushrooms can be a spiritual experience, treat the land with respect, no breaking down fences or leaving gates open, or dropping litter, you'll just fuck it up for yourself and others. Happy picking.
I mean the last part should be a no brainier to anyone even just going out walking. Its such a shame it has to be said because of all the dick heads who ruin the countryside.

You've pretty much cleared up any uncertainty I've had in my picking career
This is by far the best guide i've seen! i played it at 1.5x speed as i found the pace a little slow, but appreciate how thorough this is!
This video is methodical, easy to grasp and concentrates on what I want to learn without fatal errors. Thank you for your efforts friend ♥️
I'd appreciate your comment

Thanks Kiara, good idea. I will consider that for summer time, in the winter it grows everywhere here though 😍
Loved this video, thank you so much, but I did want to add that Liberty caps also grow on playing fields. Not all of course, as some have been sprayed with fungicide but I have found many over the past few years on a playing field near me. Nevertheless, thank you for this once again ✨
Fungicide dosen't actually kill the mushroom, the mycelium is underground and can't be killed
@@Maddy7210 would it make the shroom inedible? i would think so
I love it how I hadn't watched any videos related to the topic but youtube still suggested this video to me.
Anyway it's a well done guide!
Best recognition video i've ever seen !
It's the first time i feel i could actually recognise the plant after watching the video !
The long exercise at the end is very effective, thanks !
That was pretty helpful, thanks mate!
To the creator. There are bots trolling your channel scamming people who watch/comment. Hopefully you continue to make identification of mycology content for the people like me who enjoy the hobby.
Thanks. I'm really sorry about this problem. I have reported the scammers and complained to UA-cam, but it's an uphill struggle.
Excellent production, great idea with the multi choice test. No doubt this post will get lots of replays.
highly skeptical at first because your not in north america so I skipped some in the beginning. It was best the best video I have ever seen for being descriptive and informative on liberty caps! watched all of it afterwards and it helped me making sure I did correctly spot mottle gills and liberty caps! best line ever at the end as to what makes a good mushroom forager!
I will say though you're wrong about parks, one of my best spots is a park. Cricket pitches, golf courses, race courses and parks can all be amazing and defiantly worth a check.
Yes, there are some good spots like that. However, in all the online places where newbies post pictures of finds, there's loads of hopeful people who stumble upon mushrooms in their garden or nearby urban park, and virtually none of those will be liberty caps. Whereas out in the fields and moors there's a better hit-rate. I want beginners to understand that the chances of the first mushroom they see in a park or grass verge being a liberty cap is very low. Could be worth checking tho, you're right! Thanks for commenting.
Les endroits dont tu parles sont tous fréquentés par des chevaux ou l'ont été par des bovins dans le passé ,donc cela m'etonne pas si tu y trouves des magic champi !
I've been tripping hard this season is banging!!
Amazing. Thank you. Please do more guides like this! Very thorough!!
