Australia & Israel were admitted to a European contest some years ago. It's all about MONEY. The double standards reflect global coverage of Ukraine cf Palestine. Money comes into play too.

Australia joining Eurovision clearly indicates its desire to be part of Europe. It hasn't been making enough effort to connect culturally with its Southeast Asian neighbors, except when it comes to profitable economic cooperation.

I am still struggling to understand why the European Broadcasting Union could ban Russia in 2022 after it invaded Ukraine but said that it could not ban israel for invading Gaza in 2023. What double standard and hypocrisy is that?

The democracy has spoken : the European population has voted massively for Croatia (337 points) and for Israel (323 points) as well as for Ukraine (307 points). All the other countries are far behind. If Switzerland has won it is because of the votes of the "professional" jurys. So as you see, those pro-Hamas people actually make lots of noise, but they don't represent the majority of the population who has no reason to boycott a country that has to fight against the group of violent terrorists HAMAS. The Eden Golan song was wonderful and full of emotion reminding of the October 7 massacre. Don't forget that European citizens support Israel AND the Gazan civilians who are not Hamas supporters.
