In the years 1944-1994 it was a closed base of the Baltic Fleet of the USSR.

karosta is the place you'd better avoid in the late evening and night, but it does have some pretty sights, especially the sea side

It's so creepy, there's no one, some kind of apocalypse. What is the city turning into??? 25 years ago, the courtyards here were full of children, life was in full swing and even at night it was not boring; cafes worked until morning...
