And still is ranked top 5 in one of the toughest divisions! 10+ title defenses, and I'd just like to mention that Conor has 0 career title defenses 😅😅😅💯 I'd like to leave that right there lmao
@@donny9078 Connor fanboy lol. Aldo is an absolute beast. Bad night against Connor.
Jose Aldo the legend! Incredible performance and win 👏👏👏👏👑🇧🇷
One of the greatest fights of his career. One of my all time favorite fights. One of the best fights in MMA history. Classic!
Mad respect for the gentleman fighter Jose Aldo!
Urijah Faber: *There was never no check*
My friend and i were huge Faber fans in the wec days. When this fight was announced he asked me "what do you think" I said that Uriah didn't have anything for this guy. I was wrong he had a TON of heart. Mad Respect to that Man.
Aldo changed the game. And 12 years later is still kicking ass
This is why I always respected Jose and Uriah...After Jose had the fight in the bag he didn't punish Uriah in that final round...Uriah also didn't quit and amazingly finished the fight.
Man. Looking back at this fight, Aldo is just a beast. I have to say that Faber took that ass woopen like a man. Most people would have not answered that bell. We have seen men walk out the ring after much less than that. He is a real tough dude
Aldo saw a heart. Knew he had already won. No need to permanently hurt someone. Especially Uriah. He's a good dude.
Ye that is pretty much what happened on round 5. Aldo has spoken about it in interviews in the past, he wanted to let Faber get to the end without any further damage to honor Faber's display of heart since he knew the fight was won already.
yep I think you're right.
That is what Fabers coaches were thanking him for at the end.
Aldo showed great respect for Faber in the last round. It would appear that he didn’t want to continue attacking him to prevent possible permanent damage to Faber’s leg. He knew Faber wouldn’t quit, and out of respect, he didn’t go in for the finish that could have done permanent damage. I’m sure he was wanting a rematch in the future.
Aldo's corner telling him not to go to his guard, to tell him to get up, and even so Aldo didn't, he knew he had already won the fight and he didn't want to hurt the opponent anymore
Great match! Faber's TOUGHEST defeat... Aldo was a true champion!
José Aldo, is very humble and in addition to beating his opponent, he still greeted him and also greeted the boy's coaches. And that's why with this humility he got where he is.
You clearly see Aldo wasn't trying to hurt Faber in the last rounds. He knew he won and didn't want to damage his opponent.
Agreed 👍
Mad respect for that fr
I remember watching this fight live..i was at my friends house i was the only one rooting for Aldo....been a fan since the beginning of his wec career..this is literally the fucking goat..he defended the belt multiple times against top ranked fighters in their prime in wec and the ufc
Aldo didn’t want to add to faber’s injuries. He just stayed active enough to ride out the last round. That’s a fighter not out for pleasing the blood thirsty crowd. He’s a real one for that.
Jose Aldo is the 🐐 at featherweight, his run in the WEC was legendary tore threw the division with the perfect blend of Athleticism, and Fundamentals.
Jose wasn’t tryna “play it safe” he purposely stopped throwing that leg kick, or even attack him because he knew Faber wasn’t giving up… Aldo simply had TOOO much respect for fabers heart.
yep, i agree. I thought Aldo was also perhaps showing a little bit of compassion there mixed with the respect.
That's respect he knew what he was up against👌
I disagree. You dont know Aldo. This guys have no mercy. Wath his movie and you will know. Congrats to Faber to stand in that beat up.
@@cunecao Have you never seen any UFC fight where one of the fighters thinks the opponent has taken too much damage? You see it sometimes, not often though. When Gaethje was beating on Cerrone he kept looking at the ref urging him to stop it. When Overeem had Walt Harris flattened out and could do whatever he wanted he only threw soft punches until it was stopped. Dariush could have destroyed Ferguson's knee but decided not to.....These instances of compassion happen dude. Are you sure you know what you're saying?
@@JimChap where are Justin's mercy against El cucuy? Its complicated.
Over a decade has passed and Aldo is still the man..what heart!
This was the absolute biggest fight in FW history at the time
And Jose Aldo put the whole world on notice
He can ruin anyone, even the ELITE
And probably the only time jose has been booed by fans
These were the good old days. I’m a big fan of Faber but he got whooped. Aldo has a good range of motion with both of his leg kicks. Beautiful. 💪🏽
Aldo is a class act always has been. When you know you've won the fight there's no need to inflict unnecessary damage. I would love to see him fight Conor McGregor without McGregor getting in his head like he did. I'll always believe without the psychological warfare he would've defeated Connor.
I agree , I think that Conor fight messed with his head . And aldo by all means has all the goods. He actually was more equipped than Conor . It was just the right angle and force of Conor’s punch that did it.
I just think Connor timed him coming in with a perfect shot. Caught him cold too. It happens.
@@kauan7394 idk. Aldo charged Conor like he wanted revenge and ran right into Conor. Conor can be a real asshole and he says horrid things about his opponents, acting like a bully, WWF like behavior, throwing shit at buses etc. I’m Irish and I think Aldo is awesome and Conor is a bitter, has-been that let fame and $ go to his head.
@@jasonbornonthefourthofjuly1351 you realize you're insulting Jose by insulting the guy that slept him in 13 seconds right?
I'm Brazilian, i'm proud about josé aldo!! He is a great person! A great fighter!
I am from South Africa and I salute Jose Aldo, he is a legend man. One of the mma greats. I am a huge fan of Brazilian fighters and Aldo is right up there with the best of the best.
Respect both fighters! 💪 🍻 🎊 🇷🇴 Congrats Aldo for the win and for the fair-play!
Mannn.. this era of mma was it! What came after is crazy. Much respect to these guy and pioneers before them.
watched this when i was 17, first ppv i bought. I had been training for a year at the time, and this fight motivated me so much. felt like it was really something special, but no one talks about this fight. Its my favorite aldo performance, but faber is also an absolute warrior in this, never giving him an inch and eating the most devastating leg onslaught I've ever seen
Wish the UFC had uploaded Urijah Faber’s California love walkout
12 years of this fight and Aldo continues to be beaten ass of fighters.
Love both of these warriors. Faber was my first fav MMA fighter. Aldo gained my respect and admiration for fights like these and many others.
woww aldo control the entire game❤ really badasss
I want to see the Faber/Brown 1 fight and the Aldo/Brown fights. It's like they lost the originals in a fire.
"My leg was a balloon! My leg came out of the socket!" ~ Urijah Faber
WEC Aldo = GOAT
Two legends WEC had so much talent, multiple hof. Shoutout to versus
Aldo gave Fabre the respect he deserved for his toughness, and heart, hats off to Aldo.
Man, I miss WEC.. also my leg is getting sore just preparing to watch this
What a class act in Jose Aldo. Taking mercy on Uriah and not just beating him senseless. Imo he let Uriah finish that fight. And what a legend in both these men. A couple of GOATS for real man
7:19 Damn even when Joe Rogan sees the replay he still says that Faber landed the kick and that’s what made him fall. It’s clear to see that Aldo kicks his leg. Like a sweep lol
Was looking for this comment
I was in the comments just to see if anyone else caught that
Why did Aldo go flying back then if it didn’t land ?
@@dontplay9937 go back and read my comment again nice and slow because you sure didn’t understand what I wrote. Never said anything about Faber not landing his push kick.
Mario Yamasaki: If the leg doesn't tear off his body, im not stopping the fight!
Aldo was being kind with those soft hammers. He could have bludgeoned him. He was taking it easy with those elbows. And punches. Believe it. Good dude. Respect.
I always felt that Aldo decided not to inflict further unnecessary damage to Faber as he knew he had it won as opposed to playing it safe.
Exactly. Why keep kicking the leg and maybe permanently injuring the opponent, when you have clearly already won? I think it was a great show of sportsmanship, even though these dumb commentators did not understand it and called it "boring".
I totally agree. And, from a competitor's perspective I am sure that he saw no reason to cripple his opponent either. Great Sportsmanship from Aldo.
Respect
Jose definitely showed some class and sportsmanship in this fight.

It’s amazing to me, all these years and they still talk about the damage leg kicks do, to the punching power and ability to move. It’s like every time it happens, it’s a new thing!
The pain that UF was feeling in that leg after the fight must have been brutal.
There’s a picture of his thigh the next day that’s easy to find. I’ve never seen anything like it
Yeah, he had to use crutches to get around.
Nothing some ice and meds can't help.
Aldo had mercy on him. That's what you saw during the 5th round. Uriah was helpless with no leg. What a warrior Faber is to continue, and Aldo for having good sportsmanship.
33:34 Much respect to Aldo you could tell he respects Urijah. That must have been a hell of a night for urijah.
Got to admit, thought he'd just wreck the knee in the last round but what a class ending, I takes a true champion to do what Aldo did..
People were complaining about lack of action, but it seemed that Aldo had compassion for his OBVIOUSLY hurt opponent. Jose could've demolished him several times in the final round, but opted to tack it slow, not even attacking after dude buckled with that body shot. I respect Aldo for this.
Great sportsmanship!
It's not always about destroying your opponent. Jose chose not to, in front of Cali kid's hometown.
I completely agree with J.R., Favor is an awesome fighter, but Aldo is top-notch 👌
Tons of respect for both fighers!! 👍👍
