- Is this Loss?
The Tim Buckley gaming comic CTRL+ALT+DEL (CAD) is still one of the most referenced webcomics - mostly thanks to the Loss comic But what is Loss? The Loss meme has stood the test of time alongside the likes of the Rick Roll but it was so shocking when it came out...or was it? Should we have seen the signs in Buckley's earlier online comics?
And y'all...WE BROKE 1K SUBSCRIBERS!! Thank you so much for your support - You guys are proving that webcomic and indie artists have a place in the world media discussion. I have some fun surprises in the works, redesigning some things and whatnot, gotta make things look presentable around here...and hey, here's to the next 1,000!
Everybody asking, "Is this Loss?" and nobody asking, "How is Loss?"
I'll do you one better, "Why is Loss?"
I find it really funny that ethan looks exactly like ultimate spider-man it's an uncanny resemblance
Someone call the Spider-Verse people, we're now considering Ethan a Spider-Man variant
Formats do affect a lot the interpretation of a work, people wheren't expecting a very dark topic in a 4 panel gag webcomic. Is like recreating the Lion King scene where Mufasa dies on a cake. Which is actually a thing, check it out.
The reason it crashed so hard is exactly what you said - I'd give an exaggerative example, but like...I can't think of anything crazier than miscarriage plot in gag gaming comic
Loss was such a mindfuck. Like i saw the comic when it came out, already following ctrl alt del on various platforms. Learning that was where the lines were from after seeing it blow up was so weird
That "Ancient Roman Meme" is simply brilliant
I think my favorite is the dental floss containers laid out and the joke was "is this floss?"
Congrats on 1k subs! Loss was such a weird turn at the time, and was, for me, the reason that turned me off CAD. Not for the subject matter, but because of how it felt so out of place.
This is a good summary of the situation. It's interesting: webcomics are often at their best when mixing great short-form stories from page to page with longform narratives. Gag-a-day webcomics that span large stories are my favorite format!
_Ctrl+Alt+Del_ low-brow humour never hit the tones. Where similarly amateur projects like _Questionable Content_ and _El Goonish Shive_ could switch back and forth between ridiculously silly/nerdy jokes and touching moments, with _Ctrl+Alt+Del_ it always felt off. I think the centering of the male protagonist is a really big part of it. I think it's very interesting.
Congrats on 1k mate, keep up the great content!!
Congrats on the 1K! Found my way here from The Red Dot interview :)
Red Dot was so much fun to talk with, I definitely want to keep up with all the artists and their projects!
Congratulations on 1k dude 😁😁
Is this Loss? (sorry I had to)
These are the questions, folks

Yes sir 🫡
Have you read everything is fine?
