I've seen redfish do that around our piers, they'll swim around all day without biting then the tide, weather or light changes and they'll bite repeatedly so you have to wait them out. Usually a free swimming bait gets more bites since the bait swims freely away from the fish and they don't see the weight. Bait doesn't normally stay still in the same spot so the fish may think that's not normal and not bite, but I'm guessing.
All valid points
And the hook
@@Bobby-pv7ciusing a 1 ott mustad circle and hiding it in the live bait helps fool them and it helps me hook them
Take this comment with a grain of salt but the quicker you get the croaker from your live well onto your hook and into the water the better chances you have at hooking a snook. They want that croaker to be lively so when its down there it runs for its life and they get an instinctual reaction aka that sweet bite we all crave!
Very good advice. Thanks
Facts on facts. Great comment. No laggin while snook fishing. Every second counts
Yes that goes with any live bait 100% truth right there. And frequent water changes in ur cooler is good as well. If u got a lot of foam on top like nasty foam. Change the water it helps
Hey bro , the key is really really live bait , not lethargic baits . Cut works as well, I’ve been snook fishing like crazy for the past 2 years with 100’s caught and a 40 inch landed
I literally grew up fishing the Juno Pier ... including the original pier that blew down in 1984 ... and may I suggest the next time you go down there, stop off to buy some croakers, then try arriving before the sun comes up and catch some of the mojarra that the snook seem to prefer at times.
i would surf next to it lived in Lake worth .
That was awesome to see the perspective from the Reel View! I’ve always been fascinated by underwater GoPro footage but seeing a live view of your bait is a game changer. Great video!
Thanks bud!
Not sure if you'd be interested but I post underwater videos from underneath fishing piers and in inlets as well.
Camera is dope !!! Those fisherman seem to be jealous !!!
Thanks😂
Unless you have a lot of water movement I would limit the amount of weight to the bare minimum.
that camera is so cool! There are some monster snook down there, so awesome! that last big Snook that you caught on camera eating your bait that was epic! Good stuff.
Thanks JC! Hope you are doing well!
Wow great video camera, I have fished Jupiter's inshore waters for years. Let's go fishing.
We will be back next year for sure 😃
That camera footage was slick. I can see both sides of the “cheating” argument. It does seem like tech is getting to be a little on the invasive side. However, that footage was epic. Waaaay better than the Cabela’s aquarium.
Thanks man!
They don't mind using my live cameras when I am there filming lol
@@TheLawlessTideI’m all about the tech side bro …. I’ve lived the life of if you aren’t cheating you are not trying !!! … I feel why waste your time …. Get all the tech you can … I can’t wait to get my camera and an electric reel ! … the people who cry about your efforts are not eating when you are … ya follow me bro 👍👍🏆🍻
@thomaschandler4831
I agree! The only time when I think that new tech isn't fair or offers an unfair advantage is during tournaments when this new equipment isn't yet available or affordable to everyone. In this case, I think it should not be allowed until after 1 full season that it becomes fully available. This gives everyone a chance to save for it, aquire and install it and learn how to use it.
@@willcordelo9582 … that’s always an issue .. Cost ! …. Some things are expensive… but quality costs … there are always knock offs… I’m not a fan of cheap stuff… I’ll save like you said … I’m absolutely against using electric reels and under water cameras for tournament fishing ( No way !!!! ) however I’m not against handicapped people using these items for all fishing 🎣 … it would be a wonderful opportunity to give these people big giant smiles 👍👍🏆
This video definitely sums up Juno this summer, Bait was scarce and just so many heartbreaks. 😢
So it was like that all summer?
@@TheLawlessTide I think so, I only went like 4-5 times but it was so hard to catch mojaras. And the bite was never on fire like past summers. They must be learning or something.
I don't know if this will help you or not but I don't hook them in the nose when I'm using live bait for snook I usually do a bottom by the rectal hook with with a circle hook for a mustache true turn too hot
Awesome video thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
That was awesome seeing them on camera. Disclaimer alert, no fish were harmmed to make the video.
😂
I can't wait until I can get back to filming here regularly
Thanks for taking us along 😂
Any time!
a little tip some people say its best to use pinfish as bait idk if its true or not
Cut the gillplate ,.. on the croaker. I meant
Don't tell nobody
That was sick!
Thanks!
Bro !!!! Your trying to set your hook to soon .. flip your bale and let him go … you also may need a bit bigger hook 🪝
Hello I turned on the captions I can’t see the name of the underwater camera I’m deaf
Reel view fishing system.

That pier is college for them and they all have a PHD😂😂😂 good video!!!!
😃😂😂
Wow ! … awesome … it’s camera time
Thanks
make a video with that custom cooler live well set up. been wanting to make one for a while like that.
Already did
Should've tried free-lining those croakers instead.
i think i saw you on the pier 1 day with that camera on the rod thingy
Very possible if you were in juno
What live bait cooler is the big one? And what’s the device making all those bubbles
Homemade bait tank, i have a video on how to make one.
Try cutting a piece of the tail off, enough for it to bleed but not die🤙
Wow they are smart. They barely grab it and run and let you set the hook lol
Yep, smart fish + bad angler = ham sandwich for dinner😂
I really like it something different💪
Thanks
@@TheLawlessTide yessir!!
Hey was out in friend boat and looking to catch fish destin any recommendations shrimp at bridge off Eglin parkway no luck and water was real rough where should I have went at this time of year thanks
This is probably the worst few weeks of the year to fish here. Water is just boiling everywhere. Offshore deep dropping is good right now.
Awesome hunt even if you didn't get gold!
Thanks for watching!
It’s crazy that fish can be down there just floating away being choosy with food.
Yep
Limitless is right at least for you who fish blue water..... lol, I've only seen 1 other guy do it & his camera fell off. Go figure>?
What's up w/ these snook? They look lackadaisical like this is the end point of a long journey, similar to samon but not the
exact deal? I am curious though? peace man
Hey Lawless, why didn't you load this as a Camera Fish Trip? Is it to give the guy you learned it from some clout? I only
ask b/c I'd think the Word "Camera" on the line might cause an influx of views...... IDKnow it though? neat sH!T
I believe they come here as some part of the spawning journey so they arent real interested in eating.
I do believe that is right.... they reminded me of the Michigan species that ran up the Manistee River. But I've
forgot about most of the saltwater fishing. I'm learning now, thanks peace
If it's like louisiana heavily f8shed parts, they are used to the pressure . They aren't wired the same after being there for a while...like a country boy going to the city and vice versa....I am that country boy.
Louisiana is some wonderful peoples & I suspect the survival thing has been since the French, Spanish, and others who
came into the lower Mississippi estuaries. It was wild & full of foods so people found their own methods to live. I lived
there for more than 10 yrs & loved it but after "Katrina" I never went back. peace
This is the Greatest Video ive watched- My boat says SnookTime! If you can see them they wont bite. And then even when you know they are there sometimes they are just biting no matter what and then sometimes they are just stacked around your bait and nothing... So finicky. 🤟😎👉🙏
Thanks for watching
What spinning reel are you using in this video?
That is the Reelview Fishing setup
If they have teeth ,is using a wire leader allowed ?
Locals only bro!
😂
😂
Livescope user. Fish know what's going on in their environment. U get several looks to bites.
Cut the crockery gill plate off and expose the red gills and you'll get one.
Thanks! Ill try that next time
do u think 30 lb mono line will work
Not at all

Whatever happened to 24 hr fishing piers! In the summer, it's so hot that those big females just are not nearly as active! I've been summer Snook fishing Clearwaters Pier 60 for 50 years, and a few years ago, they started closing it at night! These yankee idiots who retire and move here, then run for one city office or another, make me sick. They immediately start voting to change things. They don't care that they ruin family traditions. Anyway, sorry, it's a sore subject with me.
Please let me offer a little advice for catching these giants, as I have literally caught and released 100's of these summer pier snook. Please don't be offended. Those conventional reels will catch the occasional snook, but your catch ratio won't ever improve! Believe it or not, all you need is a good fast or extra fast action graphite rod in the 30-60lb class about 8' long. I use 60lb Power Pro braid and about 8' of 60 to 100lb Florocarbon leader(depending on water clarity) tied directly to your braid. BKK circle hooks are my favorite now, but Owner is also good. I use a 5/0 to 8/0 depending on bait size. All my reels for pier fishing snook are 5000 or 6000 series spinning reels, with an almost locked drag, which is critical!
Personally, I'll take a medium-sized Ladyfish or large Pigfish over a croaker every time! In fact, I've caught giant snook and bull reds on large chunks of ladyfish many times just laying on the bottom.
Here's the trick for live bait. Hook your bait very lightly (since you won't need to cast it very hard) in the back a little more than halfway back. That way, it will always want to swim away when it feels your pressure. Just toss it 10 or 15' from the pier, but try to only have 2-3' of slack at any one time, and keep it no more than 3-4 feet below the surface. When you see your line change directions or suddenly move very deliberately, point your rod tip straight down and WAIT to feel that very first tension. When you do, you MUST raise your rod fast and firm to about 2 o'clock while also reeling! You have to use your rod, reel, and her momentum to get her head angled up! This first few seconds is absolutely critical! As long as her head breaks level angled upward, her increasing momentum coupled with your line tension will automatically get her swimming upwards! THIS is why I like a longer rod, it gives you a longer first swipe to help break that level plane. The very second, you let her break level down, your chances of landing that fish decreases drastically.
Once you get her on the surface, she has lost all her leverage so she is going to go ballistic! Nothing but whitewater and slashing! Try to keep only her head out of the water, IF you can do all that, you won. She will settle down pretty quick. This is a tried and true method that has been perfected by myself and family and friends over many years. I honestly hope it helps everyone get their bridge/pier PB!!!
Good Luck!
Always love getting advice from the voice of experience. Can tell you know you’re talking about. Gonna give it a shot. Much appreciated. Thanks Will!
You're very welcome! Back in the late 70's and 80's, we were also using Penn 4/0 Senators and custom-made Herrington rods for bridge/pier snook and tarpon. But those were sold many years ago in favor of the much lighter spinning gear we use today. Thanks for hearing me out. People like you, who really listen with interest, are very rare these days. Just remember that gaining upward momentum before she realizes that she is in a fight, is HUGE!
ONCE you get your rod up to 2 o'clock, never let her have anything back! I also found that it helped me to bring along a Rubbermaid step stool to stand on, especially during that first 5 seconds in getting her up! Good luck, and keep me posted!
I give fishing lessons
😂
What the name of the pier?
Literally say it multiple times in the intro.
Honk...lol
you guys are such kooks 🤣🤣
😂
Iol
Googen
Probably right but at least i'm smart enough to know how to spell it. I'll be the googan and you be the idiot😂
hundreds on hundreds spent on gear and still can hook a fish lmaoooo get all the tech you want but you cant beat natural instincts of fishing. its a reason they call it fishing not catching.
Hey brother I sent you a message on instagram. I’m coming down to Destin on the 19th and was just wondering where you’d be or recommend fishing at. The past two years I’ve only fished the mwr and the pier before joes bayou
Are you boat fishing?
No we’re never got to boat fish before either high cost or just didn’t plan it in time. We stay at the mwr and usually fish there day and night but then only that one pier seems to be open at night by joes.
Tough fishing right now, water is boiling hot
