Epic video guys. Van is looking epic. Chopping board turned out mint. You could always glue an old white plastic chopping board to the underside of it to. So you can keep the top in good nick when you use it as a bench. And chop your pizza on the bottom.
Thanks heaps mate 🙌🏼 That's a ripper idea with the chopping board. We have been using the underside for pizza so we keep the top side in good nick but we like your thinking 💡
So many amazing features!! Got my ideas pumping, and still trying to work out where to put a shower in our 15ft van... 2 kids are taking up so much space 😂
Watched your first 7 episodes and you two are so inventive! So good to get these ideas as well, absolute bonus. One way that I've seen people do there seat covers is to cut out a piece of ply wood and place on the back of the foam and then set a ple to it with the seat material, cheers phil
Thanks heaps Phil! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. We added ply to the back of our foam and then just stapled the faux leather to the ply which worked out well 👍
The van is turning out nice and considering you are not a carpenter you are doing well. When you cut melamine the underside won't chip as you noted. To stop the top from chipping score it with a sharp knife and cut to the waste side of the score mark and it won't chip. Put the floor waste in as you waterproof the shower using a floor flange. If you cut a hole later and seal it with silicone or similar it will leak. Keep up the good work.
Thanks heaps Paul. That’s a good tip for the melamine. I did watch a video where they scored the top side first and it seemed to have worked well. As for the shower, I wish I had known of that earlier but hopefully it’ll be right. We haven’t noticed any leaking as of yet but a floor flange would have been the way to go. Thanks heaps, Joss + Ell
Bloody great build mate. Some full height wooden shims between the fridge and outside cabinet (50mm wideish) should be fitted to stop the screws rocking loose and hold the fridge tight. Will conceal the gap too. Currently watching the series and subbed/belled. Looking forward to some trips. All the best
Thanks so much mate. That’s a good idea thanks for the suggestion! Also, thanks heaps for supporting our channel and tuning into the series, we really appreciate it! Cheers, Joss + Ell
Just found your channel, have watched all 7 episodes and all I can say it’s bloody brilliant, absolutely love what you have done and has given me many ideas for what I would like to do. .
Love the work going on, but a bit worried about the fridge needing some ventilation for the compressor and the cooling fins. I think you'll need to put some holes at the back near the top of the cabinet or the fridge motor will run a very long time trying to remove the heat (which won't go anywhere). I like these fridges better that the other common ones because the cooling fins are not in the walls of the fridge. People squeeze them into tight spaces not realising that type of fridge needs a couple of cm gap all the way around them because the heat has to get out of the walls somehow.
Thanks heaps. Yep so before we added the vents to either side of the cabinet you could feel the heat built up behind the fridge and like you said, the compressor was running quite frequently. Since adding the vents it has helped dissipate the heat heaps and has made it much more efficient.
Great episode, guys, well done!!! Love the shower idea but what were the press studs for, I didn't see what they were used for. I've seen those Insta ads with a pull up shower from inside the floor and have considered it. But might do more of a half height fixed cubicle with a retro style shower curtain. Anyway that's a long way off, got more pressing problems atm. I gurneyed the outside yesterday and found some leaks so currently working on fixing those. Contacted Bags and Swags to see if they do repairs to the zippers in the poptop, so thanks for the contact there. BTW did you have to repair your windows, they look so nice. I've taken out the van's windows yesterday and am now thinking they're not worth renovating, might go down the custom route. Shame cos I really wanted to keep them but am researching if there is anyone out there who can repair old aluminium windows...have you come across anyone who does that, preferable near Brisbane? Anyway, thanks again....and safe travels xx PS 3rd grandson born this week and his name is Louie...just as cute as your Louie lol x
Thank you so much for your comment 😀 we added the press studs to the bottom of the shower curtain and to the inside of the shower recess so it keeps the curtain tort and held against the walls of the shower base. That was exactly what we were going to do however we are so glad we didn’t as we do love that it isn’t permanent and it can be packed away, opening up the space again. Definitely personal preference. Bags n swags do an excellent job, it’s a great idea that you have gurney it as it’s best to fix this leaks early on. The windows were a pretty lengthy and time consuming job but we pulled each window out and repaired them one by one. This consisted of wire wheeling the aluminium, replacing all the window seals and rubbers which we bought from vintage caravan spares and they came out really nice. We were very fortunate that all our winder boxes were in good working order. We just had to replace a few rivets where the windows open out. We don’t really know if anyone who does that sorry. It’s worth giving a go yourself if you have the time. Congratulations on your 3rd grandson Louie, it’s a very cute name 😊
It looks amazing guys. Loving the hide away shower. What are doing for draining the water out? Will you need to waterproof the waste outlet again? Keep em coming.
Thanks so much 😀 we have added a waste outlet which we will show more of that when we release the plumbing episode 👍 can confirm the shower works great and so glad we put one in.
Hi Guys, been enjoying your renovation videos immensely. Please tell me where you got the 'telescopic ramp' for your dogs access into the Van from? My dog is big enough to get up in my Van but has bad hips & struggles with steps. Cheers.
Hi Ian, thank you so much. Really appreciate it. We got our ramp for Louie and Darla as it’s not good for Dachshunds to jump. It’s got a 120kg weight limit so we can walk up it as well. Just stumbled across your channel, that interior looks great! I've got lots of ideas now from watching you build this. I'm planning a small low roof height camper at the moment, what's the height from the floor to the ceiling on the lower section? Cheers
Thanks heaps! Yep the latches we used are from RV Labs which is an Australian company. The little gold ones on the over head cupboard and the wardrobe were just from Kmart.
Awesome content guys! I'm inspired to do my own build. Just curious, did you consider the single axle and Max load of the trailer when adding materials? How did that work out? I was wondering if I would need a double axle to use the materials I want to use.
Thanks heaps! Glad you’re inspired! Absolutely we considered the gvm and weights for everything when planning the build, one of the most important things to consider. We made sure that the materials we used and things we added weren’t going to put us over. We also considered where we put things in our layout to best distribute the weight 👍
Hey guys! We bought our access hatch for the slide out kitchen from RV Parts Express and I’ll pop the link here for you 👍 www.rvpartsexpress.com.au/access-door-3-white-415-x-581-white.html
Hey guys! Love your reno, we are currently doing our reno and we have very much the same style! Question, how has the fridge been? Any thoughts, pros/cons? Thanks ☺
Hi Madison! Thanks so much! That’s exciting, how’s your reno coming along? The fridge has been awesome! The freezer works really well at keeping things frozen and we love the space it has. The only con is we do notice it does cycle a little more than expected but that’s probably due to not having an outside fridge vent. We think if we had them it would help circulate fresher air in and around the compressor and make it more efficient but all in all it’s a fantastic fridge for the price. We bought it on sale for $629 or something like that. We love the reversible door too 🙌
We have a Kickass instant hot water unit that we hang on the side of the van and we’ve plumbed hot water to all water outlets in the van. We store it in the toolbox on the drawer bar when not in use but we’ll show all of that in our plumbing episode which is to come 🙂 Cheers

Well done guys. I keep smiling every time I see the dog’s hidey hole. 🐶
Thanks heaps Mick. Haha they love their little hidey hole. It keeps their bed out of the way too so we’re not stepping over it 👍
You have done a great job on the van for someone who has never done this type of thing before.
Thank you John, figuring it out as we go 👍
So many amazing features!! Got my ideas pumping, and still trying to work out where to put a shower in our 15ft van... 2 kids are taking up so much space 😂
Glad it’s got the creative juices flowing for you 😂 it’s a bit of a tricky one but hope you’re able to work it out for your van!
Watched your first 7 episodes and you two are so inventive! So good to get these ideas as well, absolute bonus. One way that I've seen people do there seat covers is to cut out a piece of ply wood and place on the back of the foam and then set a ple to it with the seat material, cheers phil

Amazing fit out looks so professional
Thank you! We’re pretty happy with how it’s all come together 🙂
Looking amazing guys!
Thank you Tracey! 😀
Fantastic job guys looks so good you have really thought it out 10 out of 10. 👌
Thank you so much, we appreciate it 😀
Great job guy's looks great
Thanks heaps Jeff!
Wow guys you are doing such a good job nice to see young people having a go its really lovely carnt wait to see it finished
Thank you Dianne! We are loving Sunny so much, he’s a great little van 🙌
Want to see joss fit in the dog house for when he doesn’t catch any fish 🎣
Don’t worry it might happen 😂😂😂
Everything looks amazing and so well done.
Thank you Lynne!

The job you have both done is awesome
The van is insanely good!!
Thank you so much Brendan, we really appreciate your kind comment 👍
Nice work👍 Inspiring
Thanks heaps 🙌
I love the rattan doors. Why did you decide to go with natural vs synthetic rattan?
Thanks heaps so do we! The natural rattan just looks better in our opinion and not as yellow and plastic looking like the synthetic one.
@@jossandell ok thank you so much for answering that Question. Do you think there is any risk of mould with the natural rattan?
@@MelissaKozaruk we haven’t experienced any mould with ours as of yet
❤ your content ❤
