Thanks for the video. I got one more question. In your video you said that you need to put chemicals in the spout, after emptying..??, but we thought you need to put the chemicals on Top in the water reservoir. Is that an important issue?
You use two types of chemicals. The green or blue chemicals go in the bottom tank to break down the waste. In the top tank you use the pink chemical which helps to clean the bowl after use. ~ Ben
Thanks for the video installing one of these when it arrives in our 1980s merc motorhome u didn’t mention the hold down kit u can purchase separate which we have to install also saves the toilet moving around in our motorhome
There's no additives in the portaloo chemicals that prevent freezing. There's info in different forums, etc about things you can add it to prevent it but I'd recommend getting in touch with the manufacturing brand of your toilet to see what they recommend. Additional product may cause issues to seals, etc so they would be the best point of contact ~ Lauren
I'm not sure sorry, Dino, being the retailer we are best to advise that the recommended Thetford products are used, but hopefully someone in the camping community can offer some feedback on whether or not they have tried this. ~ Ben
@@SnowysOutdoors lol thanks man, I'm gonna try and find what I can about what kind of reaction the Thetford stuff should produce. If its an oxidation promoting aerobic bacteria and fighting blackheads than it should be the same concept and should work. I literally can't think of a single reason it wouldn't unless thetford products contain some kind of lubricating and/or degreasing compounds. Ughh, time to research something else haha
How much fibre you eating @Split-Photography?! So many variables here. The holding tank is 21ltrs, so imagine 2 x 10ltr buckets & go from there. ~ Lauren
It's not something I've ever done sorry, Zoey. I'm pretty sure there are instructions that come with the replacement pump and it's largely just a case of popping the old one out, disconnecting the hose and a bit on the base then popping it back in place, all with a bit of fiddling and patience. Given our lack of instructional video, I did find this which may be of help - ua-cam.com/video/V90_i75q8Ss/v-deo.html. ~ Ben
@Shamsa Araf Toilet paper designed for portable chemical toilets is known to break down easier, but I would say that majority of people use normal toilet paper & I'm yet to hear of that being an issue. ~ Lauren

Good point, powerbookg4apple, we don't actually have these brackets on our website at the moment, but they are certainly available. ~ Ben
Very good item. Worked very well.
I'm glad you're happy with it. ~ Ben
What about using it in below zero. Do the chemicals keep it not freezing?

Great guide. Thanks
You're welcome, Heath, I'm glad you found it helpful. ~ Ben

Does the bellow pump break after 57 flushes ?
It's not specifically programmed to fail after 57 flushes, no. ~ Ben
How many times aprox can this be used for "nr.2" by an adult before having to be emptied out?

Can regular toilet paper be used for these chemical toilets ?
