    Alek didn't need marionette master. Loop: pyrite spellbomb, great furnace, commanders sphere, biblioplex assistant, faith's reward, KCI. I know it's impossible to not make missplays or not notice some things when playing, but I wanted to share what I've noticed anyway:
    * At 4:50 when Mitch played Manakin, Jake should've lost 1HP because of his mandatory Carnival of Souls's trigger (doesn't matter for the result of the game)
    * At 11:00 when Alek is choosing target for his Soul-Guide Lantern, he can't cycle the Triome in response. Targets have to be chosen as the triggers appear on the stack and nothing can be done in response. Players may respond only after the trigger is on the stack, at which point the target is already set (doesn't matter, because he could have kept priority on his own Faith's Reward and cycle the Triome in response. So it was a missplay, but he could have sequenced his plays to achieve the same result, so it doesn't matter)
    Otherwise a really good showing, especially on the Alek's side - it's gotta be super easy to miss something when piloting this deck

    • @ffbunte796
      @ffbunte796 2 роки тому +5

      I'm assuming he's cycling the triome in response to the casting of Faith's Reward, before the Soul-guide lantern hits the battlefield. It's a bit of a takebacksie, but it's okay I guess - sure it is for them.

    • @autokymatic

    As a long-time player of these types of decks, I can give some good advice so that your friends don't end up hating you: Learn as many of the infinites as you can. It greatly speeds up the game when you memorize some contained loops and what they net you, so that you can avoid this messy, boring kind of gameplay. If he noticed a loop that gets him +1 card and no extra mana, even, he could just avoid playing everything and just keep drawing for the loop without physically acting it out. Then he could find a pyrite spellbomb or other loop (walking ballista etc too) and then do that loop till everyone is dead. The #1 downfall of the decks and reason that no one likes playing against them is the pilot wasting people's time with unnecessary steps. This could have been a 5 min video lol.

    • @collin2791
      @collin2791 2 роки тому +2

      And you do realize they go through the trouble of the long gameplay and all the steps to show us viewers, right? Not all of us are Vets at the game and know every combo for every card. It’s quite enjoyable seeing something new and learning how to do it. That’s the beauty of magic.

    • @sp00kyDankmeme
      @sp00kyDankmeme 2 роки тому +2

      @@collin2791 Yeah man, I never said any different. Spinning your wheels doesn't teach anything though. It was obvious that he was looking for a win and not doing it on purpose, but my suggestion was to learn some simple interaction like sac x y and z to draw x and make x mana, then bring it back, and just say "then I do it again, make infinite mana, draw infinite cards till i hit wincon." It just makes the game smoother, cause the reason that eggs decks are unpopular is all the solitaire you end up playing when you don't know it well.

    After the resolution of the very first Faiths Reward.. the permanents return to field. All triggers And Targets go on stack. The only legal target for the Soul-Guide Lanterns trigger was the Faiths Reward in his graveyard. You cannot respond to the trigger- cycle a land- and when the trigger resolves Choose a new target. The faiths reward was the only legal target and it would have been exiled thus he would have shut himself off from the loop. Also- very early on in the game- once established the biblioplex assistant - he had a loop present with the reward and excess mana and draw inside the loop. Even forgoing the fact that he punted and everyone missed it- the game took 20 minutes longer than required. But thats how magic goes sometimes. 🙏🥳🙏

      Yeah, the moment he "responded" with that cycling land I lost interest in the whole game, as it was all straight cheating after that. So like it's clear they don't have counter spells he could have just looped his commander kci Faith's reward and the draw triggers to win like ages ago all the unnecessary sac draw just takes up time .I don't mind the higher power game in fact I like it as mitch's jhoira list was what started my commander journey I still have the budget version along side my cedh version. I'm just sad that because it took so long they couldn't just run another game

      Yeah right there were so many loops he could have presented that would just win. Once he played wishclaw the game was over, get marionette master present the loop hose the table.

    So hypothetically he couldn't have just gone infinite with the atherflux spell bomb and just dealt 2 to everyone he also had infinite red fr the artifact land being recycled along with the combo?? Or maybe he didn't wanna win that way or maybe I'm incorrect I'm still not that experienced

      I think he just missed it. It can happen when you’re going through a ton of triggers that you miss the quickest way to win. Still, I think showing a game like this can help demonstrate some complicated interactions for newer players and good etiquette for players who are on the other side of long turns.

      I think the issue here would have been to find a more efficient kill that would have dealt more damage / lifeloss before he decks himself to the look. He had to draw a significant part of his deck to get to a point where he could have looped wishclaw and non-draw artifacts to keep the loop going. Also, many of the rocks needed to be sacked in order to come back in untapped. It would have been much Risker to loop those draws to only deal 2 to target player per Faith's Reward Loop.

  • @bryanholdren9043
    @bryanholdren9043 2 роки тому +1

    11:18 So Alek has to respond to the faith's reward cast by cycling savai triome. If faith's reward resolves before the cycling ST, the items are put onto the battle field requiring soul-guide lantern to declare a legal target in graveyard to exile before being put on the stack. Cycling ST can't be performed in-between faith's reward resolving and the items put on the battlefield ETB triggers being added to the stack. Casual format, but it looks like we are trying to respond by cycling ST after the resolution of FR.

    • @sandere9563
      @sandere9563 2 роки тому

      You are right. It seemed like that got that at some point and did a sort of take-backsy to do the cycle prior to casting faith's reward.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but when soul-guide lantern etb trigger goes on the stack. You have to choose the target then and there. You can't respond to the trigger to cycle a card for it to Target. !JUDGE! Haha
