Wow! Yoruba language and culture has no national boundaries. This akpala music is as authentic as the apala musics of Haruna Ishola, Kasumu Adio, and other apala musicians that i grew up with. My dad was a great fan of Haruna Ishola and would only play his music and Baba Miliki's. I bet he would have loved this as well.

This is a revelational Apala musician, he must have learned from Haruna Ishola, The master himself. I never know about this man until you bring him to fore.
He comes from Yoruba on the other side of Nigeria - Benin Republic.

The Yoruba language is a priestly language!!! Why Ifa has languished in the face of Christianity and Islam is reason for grave concern. We need an Afrikan Renaissance.
Souradjou's frst piece is a testimony to the fitness of this language to be a bridge between humans and the Gods. It is simply splendid!!!

This is classic Akpala the fundamental of JUJU music, it is sang in Gounh, Nago, OYO and Yoruba and Fon from Benin Republic to Nigeria. The very organic and pure Shango music...

Wow! This is Akpala in its originality. It's like resurrected Late Alh. Haruna Ishola. Great Musician, Mr. Alabi. God bless your work. It's interesting we have Yorubas in Benin and some other countries of the World and yet they are not Nigerians.

Yoruba language has no rival, it is being studied in Nigerian Universities by the whites.
The Igbo traders at Alaba International Market, Lagos attests to it that Yoruba songs and drama sells heavily.

Wow!! Pure apala music. I have never heard of Souradjou Alabi. His style is that of that of Haruna Ishola. He and Musiliu Ishola sound a lot like the late Haruna Ishola. Thanks for posting this song.

It is very much loved by a generation of us that grew up listening to this beautiful genre of music. I was very lucky that my uncle had a music shop in front of our house, I got to listen to great music from my childhood, day in, day out, God rest his precious soul.

They still sing apala in Benin Republic till date. The Yorubas in Nigeria are losing touch with their culture. Soon, we may have to travel to Benin Republic or Brazil to learn some of our Yoruba culture.

If I closed my eyes while somebody was playing this music, and I was asked to guess the musician, I would have guessed Haruna Ishola. But then, Haruna couldn't be alive singing about his own death... Greta music.
