And the most important is the subwoofer cabinet. If Your equalizer sub gain and frequency is operating normal, then it is fine, consider those other factors.

Recommended voltage is 24-0-24 volts. Current, at least 5 amperes.
Rca cable, the outer circular is the ground, or common the way you call it.
How does yours go down to 35hz??

There are only three wires, Right, left, and ground which is split in to two.
