Fire Rescue & Beach Safety
The Beach Safety Division serves as a public safety function for the City's municipal beach. The emphasis of the division is on ensuring the safety of beach patrons through the provision of year-round lifeguard services including, responding to all beach and water emergencies, and enforcing all City codes and ordinances related to the beach.
The staff of the Beach Safety Division is made up of 25 state certified Emergency Medical Technicians who are proficient in the latest lifesaving techniques. The permanent staff is supplemented by 33 part-time lifeguards who are also experts in water rescue and maintain a First Responder certification.
