I spent one summer driving with a crew rigging up for concerts and shows. Hard freaking work. Drive, rig up, tear down, drive again. Sleep 5 hours. Rinse and repeat. Always on hottest days
Really appreciated this video as a former rigging/production girl myself. I used to climb stages at major music festivals to secure the video screens and lighting and then I worked in programming for one of the Marvel tours. I’ve followed and enjoyed your videos for a few months now and I felt inclined to comment here because I’m so often the only female on these jobs, so it’s cool to see someone else in a similar position! Anyway, looking forward to seeing where your travels take you next!
A butt cushion helps. Most people don't think about the hard work that goes into a production. Slept in the back of my SUV in that parking lot in Moab one night. Was happy the officer who tapped on my window wasn't in the ticketing mood. Didn't plan on driving that far so no reservation was made. KOA was full, camp sites along the Colorado River to the northeast were full, hotels were full. Long drive to anywhere else. Sunrise in Canyonlands was beautiful. It's neat driving across Colorado on I-70 from the east as the prairies change to mountains lush with trees that disappear as you continue on to Grand Junction. Driving through tunnels and canyons as the green slowly fades away and oranges and reds take over. Trees, fog, and clouds are replaced with shrubs and blue sky. Entering Utah is intimidating.
I got to go to Watkins Glen State Park for the first time in May. It was so much more beautiful than even in the pictures that I saw. Another amazing waterfall not far away is Taughannock Falls. Even taller than Niagara!
I am always amazed by people like you that have all these different skills. I can see what a complicated job that is and how so much could go wrong and everything has to be perfect. You really seem to have a rare combination of hustle and reliability. I also hate driving, mostly because all of the sitting still, but I'm always thankful to be reminded of how vast and rich our country is. We will never run out of food OR energy if we're careful. And so much is barely settled yet. We could easily have a billion people.
The drive through Colorado along the river is one of my favorites too. I have to remember to keep my eyes on the road because I'm mostly looking up at the mountains and down to the river. I did that drive hundreds of times and it was a mini exploration every trip. Because you have done that plenty before too, I hope you have seen the different wild animals along the way. I haven't had the chance to look at all of your videos but one I haven't seen is you doing whitewater rafting (you might have one). But that is another great trip. The dozens of mountain hikes just off I70 are epic. I wish I could get back out there. Thank you for sharing this footage. Also it was fun watching you do this interesting camera rigging. What hikes do you do in CO?
@@AliceFordAdventures yes big horn sheep. I figured you did 14s. Well thanks for sharing your adventures and portions of your life. It's fun to tune in. You really send out positivity and good vibes, my favorite qualities. Enjoy your 2023 explorations.
12 hours of driving is kind of the limit for one day for me, i can do more, but it can't be healthy. If you get the chance, take the drive from Fort Erie Ontario to Niagara on the Lake, " the prettiest Sunday drive in the world " ~ Winston Churchill.
12 hours is stretching it for me. Even this trip my max was 10. I wasn’t able to go into Canada but I’m pretty sure I did this drive many years ago when working in Michigan
@@AliceFordAdventures if your going to upstate New York, the short cut would be going through detroit to get on the 401 and get to your destination, the big question is always how long will it take to get through customs at the Windsor Bridge ? Canadian gas is a lot more expensive, always fill it up on the USA side.
Here is a little BTS from one of my many day jobs. What do you do for work?
Retired from the aviation world
Corporate office/administrative job…
I'm an up and coming writer. I'm also an educator during my day job. Like you Alice, I wear many hats lol
I'm a chauffeur in Boston and a photographer.
Farmer. 😊

Certainly is hard work, long days and dangerous work too
That is a sweet job Alice! I can imagine there's also some tension when difficulties arise due to all the endless variables, and the hectic pace.

That is so cool! Thank you for sharing that, and yes I am usually one of the only women too. You rock!! Super cool connecting with another rigging GAL
That was interesting happy Labor Day weekend Alice! 👍…
Thanks Norman, happy Labor Day too. A little look into my day to day life when I’m not hiking mountains
Now that was cool.
Ticked all my boxes. NASCAR plus behind the scenes of cool camera shoots. And a legend pretty host 👍😉🙏
Thanks Wayne
Beautiful!
Fun stuff Alice! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching

That is a magnificent piece of tarmac
I hope you had an amazing time, Alice. It looked like an interesting task to be setting the camera and operating it!
It sure is interesting and often challenging with changing weather conditions
I watched twice! Love it all!
Thanks Tracy

Wow that’s awesome. I wish I’d had a day off or two and I would have loved to been able to visit that
@@AliceFordAdventures as a lifelong New Englander, i have to admit NY is very underrated for sheer beauty.
Love your editing, shooting and narrative stucture in your videos! You gained me from the Finnish episode, so glad that I found your channel!
Thank you so much. Really appreciate that comment and thanks so much for subscribing

I certainly consider myself as a janet of all trades. Our country sure is vast and beautiful.

I have certainly seen the bighorn sheep along this route. I have done a few of the 14’ers and love hiking in the Bells
