Yet another great drag, mate - much appreciated. I'd take the i30 N over the Ecoboost Mustang - it's got more of the naughty personality I'd want if I were spending the money. I think you'd also get pretty sick of blokes saying it's not a Mustang unless it's got a V8.
Nice to see another performance option in the market that's ICE and crafted for the enthusiast. Unfortunately, I'm still all for RWD and AWD when it comes to driving fun. FWD, no matter how fast, is still FWD.
I had both (basically) 2014 Mustang GT (V8) and 2019 i30N Performance I gotta say the Hyundai was much more refined and felt much more stable. Meanwhile the Mustang was brute force - not much technology - but that also has his charm. Mustang (V8) for Sound / Looks / Power Hyundai for Fun-Factor / Technology / Cheaper Option
i think if you compared 2019 to 2019 there would be very little in comparison. The s550 gen 2 had major chassis tuning and engine updates including the 10spd auto vs the old 6speed. the suspension was also significantly revised. Hyundai will always win out being fun for the $$$ I have had a scirocco R, then the stang ecoboost then a GT, then an M135 xdrive (baby's came) and then now tesla M3P. looking at raptor R as garage friend lol
Thanks for the great and innovative comparison Brett. For me, I know everything now with a soundtrack is north of six figures but circa $65k for a 4cyc stang, no way. It's a car all about theatre and that ecoboost whilst powerful is completely void of any aural pleasure/character. I guess it looks a bargain next to the V8 though 😆
imagine the sales of the V8 if they were still going for $75k! 2016 prices were $51k ecoboost man drive away and $64k GT drive away. now $75k and $90k autos lol
@@cthorno2991 - the 2.3L is actually a revised Mazda engine from around mid 2000's and the V6 turbo diesel is actually from PSA (now Stelantis) both heavily revised by Ford over the years.

The Mustang is what I think a car should look like. The Hyundai looks like a cross breed. What you get when you cross an old Porsche with a modern Lexus. But I would want the eight cylinder 5.4L version. If it is going to look like a muscle car, it may as well be one.

It's funny that I just decided to refer to them as N lines in my comment, because I always thought these sedans are the Elantra model. I thought the i30 was the hatch-back.
Disagree. I owned V8 Mustang for 2.5 years, now have I30N sedan, and it's way faster and more confidence inspiring in the tight twisting hills, especially when wet. The Mustangs RWD & V8 sound are the only 2 things I miss. But make no mistake, the I30N is way quicker in anything tight and twisting, I still don't understand why people launch or drag FWD cars...... The fun and skill for most, is in the corners. The Mustang with Magneride was still entertaining though, I must admit.
Very similar performance as expected, of the two cars the Hyundai is more fun and a track ready weapon, if it was RWD/AWD it would beat the stang in the drag race, also if it was octane learned results would’ve been different. As for the Mustang it’s still powerful enough but I just can’t fathom a Mustang with a 4 banger
Both are faster than my 22002 AU Falcon XR8 S3. Obviously the Mustang Turbo is great but the tech in the Hyundai is also great just let down by FWD in sports car sense.
Pretty close …! Just because it is called a mustang doesn’t mean that it is fast … both run 4 cylinders … I would say … Here are two 4 cylinder cars drag racing … 😂
That Mustang body annihilates the Hyundai by a big old margin imo, and the 2.3 Eco Engine is nowadays Iconic Ford even not being the V8 version at this price point! Prefer the Mustang actually.

I'm not talking about the Mach 1, I was talking about the 4 banger. The Coyote is great, the 4 pot will crap itself like all motors with a belt in oil. Look up belt in oil engines and tell me that's a good idea and you want to own one.
@@mahcooharper9577 - the 2.3L petrol turbo is timing chain not wet belt design, the issue with the Mustang Turbo is the "scavenger" single exhaust port that feed the turbo, yep they don't have separate exhaust ports so the turbo housing is water cooled and this is a known fail point with all ecoboost engines, what happens is the coupling cracks and coolant gets into the bores which then causes the head to twist due to miss fire and bang new engine. the sensor only tells you when coolant levels fall below minimum levels so you wont even now bout it until the engine light comes on.
