Nicolette Smith, to further expand on Buckminster Fullers' words, note that the Republicans *have no replacement plan* for the ACA, or for anything else other than a return to how things have always been. One could also argue that the ACA wasn't a new replacement model at all, just a variant of the existing model, and therefore doomed to failure.
@@goodun2974 The ACA is not great by any measure. However, it is simply a start, something to work with. Before the ACA nothing was the option. ACA is a seed. lets help it grow.

At this point, the ACA is just a shell or a seed husk, the seed having given birth to a withered, shriveled vine. With Amy Barrett on the Supreme Sourt, the Republicans will go after it for certain, and they are likely to be successful. We will find ourselves having to start from scratch all over again. agreed. we need to share the knowledge. will we reach everyone no but the more you reach the less you need to reach the next time because they change the future generations
People must WANT to know and WANT to learn. Far too many do not - in fact they're radically opposed to the very notion. They submit themselves to 'authorities' (religious and political) that convince them that knowledge, learning and intelligence itself, are at best weakness and at worst sinful. Ignorance is forgivable - not everyone is fortunate in education or opportunity. Culpable ignorance - refusal to learn when the opportunities are available - is not.
Thank you Beau for covering the BPs i see alot of the same critiques directed towards BLM and it's disheartening to see people still unwilling to educate themselves fully on the reason these movements are so important
They don't want to educate themselves because they don't want to learn the truth. This country has promoted a shining ideal of liberty and freedom for all since its inception, when the reality is that this ideal has been mostly available for one group of people. American history is a difficult history, at times, because innovation and social change has frequently happened at the expense of human lives and human freedoms. If you have grown up believing and accepting that your group has been extraordinarily creative, benevolent, and tolerant it is always a shock when a few hands are raised and some other people say, "Not always". At that point you can stop, listen and learn from the others and work together to create an even better reality for all concerned or you can ignore them. The people who don't understand The Women's March, BLM, Standing Rock, etc., are the people who cannot face their history and would rather listen to people who continue to affirm their point of view.
The sad part is that are not many of us who were around in the 60’s and remember when this all first started! The second sad part is that the groups today do not have anyone really to look up to! Where is there mentor or guide? Where is their Fr. Groppi? Where is their Martin Luther King? It is like they know what they want but not how to get there! It is sad! Peaceful protest is good but the rioting and looting has to stop! It is not going to help the cause in any way , shape or form! They need to separate the two and law enforcement needs to step up! But they need to learn how to deal with the public! Someone needs to help!
@@annek1226 I ONE HUNDRED PERCENT agree with you! I have been noting all of the bitching about BLM and the rioting and I think that it is time for BLM to change tactics. If you go back and read any of the strategies that the 60's civil rights movements had to implement to deal with a VERY HOSTILE White America, it appears to be the consistent and persistent use of peaceful protest won the day. To my younger fellow African-Americans: Look, I know you think that what you are going through is new; It isn't . and I know you think that MLK was wrong and that peaceful protests, sit-ins, etc. don't work. In 1968 as a member of Students for a Democratic Society I worked with Black Panthers to establish free schools in poor neighborhoods. We used abandoned houses. With community efforts to open schools offering reality based history, reading education, art and healthcare. Our focus was elementary aged children. Other organizations eventually joined including religious groups and citizens. Of course we encountered opposition from city authorities. The most effective way to create social change has proven to be billionaires donating hundreds of millions of dollars to politicians every election cycle. That's how we got here after all.

I see new and different community networks popping up now. Ones that really focus on education and providing resources to needy families. My favorite is Black Girls Code and the all boy's school in Chicago. I forgot the name.
Beau once stated that a new party would be great but perhaps not so militarized. I pondered on that for a long while. Before Trump, I believe he had a point. After Trump, I believe people have a right to protect themselves and sometimes it may not seem lawful especially in the eyes of those that use the law in a biased manner.

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
― Buckminster Fuller
Nicolette Smith, to further expand on Buckminster Fullers' words, note that the Republicans *have no replacement plan* for the ACA, or for anything else other than a return to how things have always been. One could also argue that the ACA wasn't a new replacement model at all, just a variant of the existing model, and therefore doomed to failure.

@@goodun2974 The ACA is not great by any measure. However, it is simply a start, something to work with. Before the ACA nothing was the option. ACA is a seed. lets help it grow.
@@tristanriabo5483 , I wish I could agree with you, but at this point I think the ACA was the seed, or the baby, that was going to end up with what farmers or doctors, call "failure to thrive" syndrome. The law wasn't written strongly enough to be able to withstand piecemeal attacks by the Republicans, who continually ripped out sections of it via the courts. The only question is whether the Democrats will have the political power and the political will to do it again, and to do it right this time.

" power to the people, all people" _ R.I.P. Fred Hampton
*One of the greatest.*
I love this quote, I should have it tattooed.
*The best way to social change is knowledge. The more people, that know better, the more they will move to do better.*
Only for people who care about truth and reality.
Well said!!
agreed. we need to share the knowledge. will we reach everyone no but the more you reach the less you need to reach the next time because they change the future generations
Knowledge alone is not enough. People need to do what Europeans do, shut the economy down by strike if the want things to change
At one time there was a great documentary about the Black Panthers on Netflix. It totally changed my view on that group. And I'm from racist Oklahoma.
I saw www.pbs.org/independentlens/films/the-black-panthers-vanguard-of-the-revolution/ on my PBS station.
To my younger fellow African-Americans: Look, I know you think that what you are going through is new; It isn't . and I know you think that MLK was wrong and that peaceful protests, sit-ins, etc. don't work. THEY DO. Please understand this: The people your parents and grandparents opposed have learned from the first round. And please understand that it was JUST THE FIRST ROUND. Just as you have social media, cell phones, etc. as tools, SO DO THEY. And they WILL use them against you. Violence is a short term solution and although it looks like fun and appears to be powerful, it will ultimately get you nowhere.

I don't know what the "right answer" might be but I'm constantly haunted by how it doesn't seem to matter what facts or reality are. Some people lack the epistemological tools to grasp reality and maybe that is the "right answer", teach epistemology, teach to think.
Give People a Reason to think for themselves, teaching them is pointless if they have no Motivation to do so.
Critical thinking skills need to be taught in classrooms again. I think the useless standardized tests are part of the reason that it's not taught in schools anymore. I think the standardized tests were a way for the powers that be to remove those things from the classroom that actually created a critically thinking populace. I wonder if it was done by design to dumb us down and make us subservient and how much the status quo would fight the return of critical thinking to classrooms.

Motivation goes hand in hand with planing and organizing your life. How far ahead do you plan, how secure is your plan, have any backups in place ? From there it is important to take stock at certain intervals and recount your efforts and assets, your possibilities and most importantly time for engaging in anything above.
Thinking is about asking questions and the hubris to except that the answer might not be to your liking and your current views. we as a Species have to relearn that Hubris.
@@dirkdisselpuff7938 Do you just motivate people into learning Math, English, history, etc or do you give them the tools, information, etc. for when they need it regardless if they want it or not? Mmmm should we just motivate people to learn arithmetic or maybe should we teach them arithmetic regardless of their opinion, interest, etc. on the subject because it is a fundamental tool?
What you propose is nonsensical, you want to encourage people to hoe swim in the hope that they will want to learn instead of teaching them how to swim. The reason people can't recognize said tools as tools is lack of knowledge not motivation, the same way I don't fully understand quantum chromodynamics, is not lack of motivation but knowledge, thankfully I have the tools to remedy that since I was give the tools necessary to study.
Also "hubris" has nothing to do with it, you have a very confused vision of how people and the world is and the word you seem to be thinking of is "curiosity" not "hubris".
