Next time or if anyone else runs into same situation with needing larger hole, simply get a small piece of wood, use screws in holes from old one and attach board behind hole. This will let you center up and cut new hole. Or simply use Dremel cutting bit to enlarge. Great video, thanks!

Great idea, thanks for the comment. Sunlight was a huge problem.

You can also use the old hole saw cup screwed inside the larger hole saw to the threaded drill bit chuck, the smaller one line's up inside the existing hole the the larger one does the new cut.
    It's really slick!

You could have bolted a piece of ply behind it to centre the hole.

The other way is to glue or Sikaflex it to centre the hole. Failing that you could just do what I did and file it bigger, took about ten minutes.

My old plug receptacle is 4 wires and I only have two attached to my batteries with a jumper so I need all four wires or can I use two.

I have only been using 2 for years. My understanding is some of the first generation 24 volt trolling motors ran the motor on 24 volts and the controller on 12 volts

    What size hole saw?

The instructions call for a 1-3/4 inch hole. Sounds about right but it has been a few months and my mind is like a steel trap, rusted, lol

Regarding the slight flare on the ferrules, which way does the flare go??

The wires should go in the flared end. I like jokingly call it the funnel. After you've inserted it and used your feral tool to crimp it down then cut yourself a piece of heat shrink just slightly larger than the ferrule and slide it over the wire and about 1/3 of the Ferrell. Shrink it and it will provide a little extra durability and resistance to Sharp curves on the wire.
