An amazing learning I was taught for bringing personal and general peace (shalom) is that people usually think they are correct. So let's say I'm sure I'm right. No question, the other person misinterpreted or overreacted or whatever. How can I fix this? I can reach out and say, I'm so sorry that things aren't good between us. I really want to work on getting back our friendship or whatever the relationship is. If one is broken hearted about the distance, express this. Notice, there is no admission that I did something wrong, because I am certain I didn't in this case (whether it be objectively true or not). Nonetheless, the humility and broken heart and reaching out can open doors otherwise shut. So, even in a case where both sides believe they are 100% in the right over the "issue" they can heal the relationship. Of course, putting ourselves on the line is hard work and even painful work. We like to protect ourselves. It's natural. Hurt feelings are some of the strongest barriers to unity in this world. I'm a work in progress. We all are. Shabbat Shalom. (I can hear an objection. Let's say the other side calls the bluff. "You still think you're right about - the BIG issue. Maybe answering, "I don't care about that, I care about you and our relationship" from a place of truth will override all objections." Another thing is that especially today we all want instant. From pudding to relationships. We need to start with the expectation that everything takes time and the other person's reaction may not be gushing. Maybe not hanging up right away is a huge first step.)

I heard the suggestion about making peace, around Chanukah, so I did apologize for hurting her, offered to shop for her several times, dropped off an item/ gift & wished Good Shabbos, several times.
