I Just picked up this bike and i love it!!!! Definitely one of the funnest bikes I’ve ever ridden. Great video keep them coming with this bike🤙🏼 Thanks!!
Hell Rado, you were sending that 125! You put a big smile on the face of this soon to be 67 year old. Last two bikes I’ve bought for my birthday have been for my 65th, a 2010 VFR 1200F DCT @ 170bhp-love that V4, for my 66th a 2017 VFR1200X DCT, a tuned down version of the F motor, and for my 67th, I’m getting a 2024 YZ125X for off-road. The VFR-X is just too damn heavy at 650pounds. I rode a Honda CR125M Elsinore back in 1974 when they first came out and Honda’s first 2 stroke motocross bike. Loved that bike, so much fun to ride. Hope to be having that same experience once again. Ride safe…
It was great seeing how capable the X-bike Yamahas are on the track. You are not a small, light guy, and you showed that it was totally capable. I thought that if the rider was more than 150 lbs, that it would maybe end up being like a CRF230 or WR on the track. I'm really a trail rider, who likes the option of riding on the track, too, and it looks like the X-Yamaha's are totally capable. And they are obviously great on the trails, since they are designed for it. By the way, your track riding skills are GREAT in my opinion, and have been for quite some time. Impressive to me.
glad you liked it, I was also surprised how well this bike handles the track with 200lbs rider on, plus these X bikes do feel great at the trails as well. I've been riding track way more than before, last year I spent more time riding MX than all my previous years combined, hope to get more confident and ride main track the way I ride vet.. I am very cautious too.. I dont want to take too much risk on the track.. thanks for sharing!
40 years ago the 125cc 2 stroke was the bomb! Good to see the return of the 2 strokes. Also, smaller and lighter is better. My Yamaha Tenere 700 will be in my garage later today(smaller for an ADV bike)
I love how you're just having battles with random people at the track without even communicating with each other! It's beautiful to me lol and this makes me want to learn how to ride tracks and do jumps lol
KTM has a 125 xc model coming out for 2021. According to the website it has all the standard equipment of an offroad/xc bike including an Electric starter, a larger tank and the initial pictures indicate it still retains the kickstarter and is carbureted . A future review would be great, in terms of comparison to the yz125x.
I just seen that 125 xc also. I wish they offered e-start, headlight, display models of the 125x and 250x's. I really think they would out sell everything else in their line up.
I spent an entire year racing cross country on my 2002 Suzuki RM125. My impression of that DC range is that they're capable of doing whatever you want with a little persuasion. They may not be the best for everything, but they have just enough power to be blazing fast without the risk of pulling the front wheel on every turn and dumping you. It's easy to be lazy on them. As long as you carry enough speed into a turn, you can lock up the back wheel and never pull in the clutch. The bike just busts right off as soon as you let off the brake and you're rocketing off. I love my 125, and recommend them for anybody just wanting a feel good bike, or even a beginner who wants to get started riding.
Hi Rado, I have been watching your videos for a while now, and I finally got my first dirk bike! I have been working on it, and I hope to go out riding this weekend thanks for the inspiration!
hey Pat, welcome to the club ;) glad you got some inspiration from the channel! I saw some of your mtb videos and I think thats a great start for dirt biking, it helps a lot with getting comfortable on the bike and having good lines, etc.. what did you get?
@@dirtniron 06 YZ 250 I am pretty pumped I have watched all your videos for maintenance and you have been flying on that yz125x! 👊✊👊✊ Ill try to make a video or two for starting dirt biking as an adult and see if they turn out any good.
@@dirtniron Hi Rado I finally got to ride my new bike and made a video if you want to check it out here is the link ua-cam.com/video/i3xT--RgW0U/v-deo.html&t "Stay Motovated"
Rado, guys go outside on the Cahuilla vet track because they don’t rip the track deep at all, it’s basically “dust on crust” and guys are looking for something to turn off of lol. You have to creep around the inside with the bike standing up straight to maintain any kind of traction. That’s why I stay on the big track, it’s much friendlier for a pipey yz250, and actually has some softness and depth to the soil for lines to form..
thats a good point Dustin, I rode main track last weekend and its so much deeper, you can really lean into those corners.. majority of inside lines on vet are pretty much flat turns, deep ruts would feel better, there are few turns like that.. I need to step up my game and start riding that main track more
I'm actually thinking of getting a YZ 125X. I have been riding big bore bikes for so long I almost forgot how light these 125's are on the trails. I believe my KTM 300 made me into a lazy rider. And my Beta 498 is a beast on hard core trails. In all honesty I rarely (if ever) used all the power of the "big bikes" on tight trails. Just in the desert and deep sand washes and hills. I'm liking you channel!! Your a pretty damn good rider too!! Thank you Sir!!
thanks Christopher, glad you like the channel! I was exactly the same way, riding bigger bikes and didnt even know how much fun it is t ride smaller bike close to its full potential. This 125x is turning to be the funnest bike I had on my channel so far, specially after I installed keihin carb with STIC. Check out those videos as well and let me know what you think. take care!
Hey Rado. The enthusiasm you got going on with your 125 is the same I have everyday I get on my 150 Husky Enduro. I’m 190lbs now and it helped me loose 45lbs. I have lots of videos of the enduro version on my channel. I’ve had it for 2 years now and it’s still the most fun bike I’ve been on. These bikes are definitely underrated, don’t know why.
The thing with the outside rut : how fast you can go in a corner comes down to the maximum allowed centrifugal force. The centrifugal force increases when the radius decreases or speed (& mass) increases. So your mid corner speed will be higher in the bigger radius. The smaller radius has some other advantages ; you can brake later and accelerate earlier because of the smaller arc length. When however conditions are preventing you from hard accelerating/braking it can be faster to maintain more speed thru the corner by using the outside rut. Also when your bike doesn't allow you to accelerate very hard, like a on small bore two stroke , bad tire , worn brakes you name it, it can give you some advantage. Track layout is also a factor, you want the right speed on an jump or rhythm section, when this is close after a corner it can be easier to use the outside rut. Then finally , it can help to not do what everybody does. If we al use the inside rut it gets very bumpy and crowdy, so overtaking might get easier on the outside.
I know the couple times I've gone to the track as a novice rider it's a lot easier to hold your line on the outside. I get super nervous that I'll get in the way so I can give people a wider breadth and have more time to square up and concentrate on body position and throttle going into a jump from the outside. As speed and confidence increases i think I'd feel better choosing lines and crossing over the track more.
Right on, makes sense! thanks for sharing! some of the guys on the video were my level and better and still chose to go outside most of the time.. I actually push myself to get more inside lines, I feel it will help me to get better, personally I find it hard to stay smooth in that inside rut
Rado, watching this video has been inspiring to me. My son is currently riding a CRF125F, and his next step will be an 85 2-stroke. I've long debated if and when to switch him to a MX 2-stroke, anticipating the peakiness, on/off light switch nature of a small 2-stroke, and all the extra shifting that comes along with them. I thought that it might take the fun out of it, and discourage him. Before the CRF125F he had a KLX110, and I came soooo close to upgrading to a 65 after the KLX. I decided to go with the CRF to introduce the clutch, and let him get some more experience, and to avoid all the "issues" or extra work that comes with a 2-stroke. But after listening to your reaction to riding/learning the 125, I'm pumped about his next move. Hopefully he could click with the 85, and enjoy the experience, like you are with the 125. I've thoroughly washed his CRF to list it for sale, and should be taking the pictures this week. The problem I see currently is the lack of used units for sale. I thought the coronavirus situation was going to put a lot more bikes up for sale, but it looks like the opposite has happened. Hopefully the right bike pops up soon after I sell his current one.
I think thats a great decision. Makes sense to start with clutch on 125f and get that dialed in first, I think he will really enjoy that 85 once he gets familiar with the power. Kids are so fast on those little 2 strokes, hard to keep up with them. Good luck with sale and a purchase too ;)
Dirt N Iron track changed the triple and made it shorter and unfortunately I didn’t give myself enough time to get used to the bike and I cased the triple and unfortunately broke my left leg
I'm currently riding a 125 four-stroke and it's not fast, but it has good low-end and mid-range power. I have no choice but to take the outside line every time in order to keep up the momentum and have enough speed for the next hill or jump. The bike is very fun to ride, and you're pretty much trying to keep up the momentum and keep it as much as possible wide open at top speed all the time.
I am a 227lbs 6'3 big for the bike guy and I love my 125X,mind I put a 51T rear sprocket. I race Harescrambles in FL. I also own the 250fx, I always see myself riding the 125x more as it's so much fun so light and nimble for the woods. C rider here!! Awesome vid bro!!!!
Great info, thanks for sharing bro! Many guys asked if 125 wont be too small for bigger guys, its really good to hear from real owners like you. Appreciate it👍
happy you got a 125 2stroke!! I have a 2018 125 2 smoker also! And love it, have fun with it! Also about 2yrs ago you tagged me in a video you made about how to adjust idle on a 2 stroke was wondering if you can make another video on the Yz when you have time! That would be awesome!!
That's so great you were man enough to give a 125 a go. Makes you a better rider. When you think about, alot of guys start out riding big bikes when really if they wanted to be good they would have started on a smaller bike.
thanks Aaron, I was one of those guys too.. my first track bike was 450.. I had no idea.. really smaller bikes are way better for me, I improved quite a bit since riding smaller bikes
As a slower rider, I take the outside a lot in corners to let the faster riders take the inside and get by me. I also like the outside because I'm not good at carrying momentum, so the outside helps me build speed to get over the obstacles. And yes, a lot of people like the outside so they can throw roost. It makes you feel cool haha.
yes, I was riding outside lines most of the time when I started MX, but I see that faster guys are switching inside outside and gaining some time by doing that. I push myself to get that inside in my blood. Some of the guys on this video were pretty good, yet they rarely went inside.
I might never be a motocrosser, but being as woods dicer, I still love the 125. When you can just bash its lungs in the whole time and it only ever makes enough power... thats the addicting part!
Going along for the ride with you was awesome. I feel I may have waited to long to start riding dirt bikes. I've been riding big street bike fo r the last 37 years. I want to learn jumping techniques while avoiding a serious injury.
I was the same way, i got first dirt bike at 32. Take it easy on the jumps, start on tabletops and get familiar with the feeling and how the bike behaves. Have fun!
Hey dirt n iron ! I have a question for you . I’m thinking of either getting a YZ125x or a crf250f . I like the weight of the YZ125x but I also enjoy the reliability of the Honda. I’m mostly riding pretty easy trails with the occasional light enduro stuff. What do you recommend.
they are quite different bikes.. you need to decide if you want 2 stroke or 4 stroke, I think 125x is cheaper and can get you everywhere crf250f can.. but you dont have electric start, its not as smooth, etc.. I think you cant go wrong with either bike
Great riding! 👍I have two 250 2-stroke Huskys but I have wanted to test YZ 125 for a long time. But I’m too heavy to ride one. You said you weigh 200 pounds (around 90 kg). Is that with or without your riding gears as they usually weigh around 20 pounds or 10 kg? I try to get my weigh down to 200 pounds without my riding gears. Then it should be ok to ride YZ 125 and I can change a bit heavier springs if needed.
thanks Janne! I am around 202-205lbs without the gear right now. if you check my other 125x videos, some guys commented that they are over 200lbs and still doing fine on 125.. best if you can test ride one.. good luck!
Epic battles Rado....enjoyed your footage...I dont ride motocross or race but I do ride the trails on a 2018 Honda CRF250x...Many thanks from Cornwall in the UK
Yes it is Rado, 90 % of riders in my group locally ride KTM but I like Japanese bikes, so went with Honda. Keep up the good work, love your channel. I have a few vids on mine of me and my friends riding local trails. If you get chance and find some time it would be awesome if you took a quick look 👌👍
I just got my first Dirt bike and just need some advice on engine breaking. They say don't do it due to no oil getting to piston, Does this mean every time I let off the gas I should pull in the clutch or is it ok to coast for a little bit w/o clutching or gassing ?
I woldnt get too crazy about pulling clutch all the time, dont get into heavy engine breaking but little bit is fine.. I ride that all the time and I also asked some really knowledgeable guys about it
@@dirtniron I ride or slip the clutch just a little in my turns on a 2 stroke to keep my power band up. At the center of the turn, my rpms are up, dump the clutch and I'm outta there. Now a lot depends on track conditions on how fast I'll dump that clutch
Man I loved my 03 kx125...never took it to the track but that was a fun bike to ride around the little makeshift track I had at home...never used all 6 gears because the track was too short but I opened it up on the asphalt and gravel roads and that thing was pretty quick for a 125.
125's are ENDLESS amounts of fun. I'm really happy you're enjoying the X! The Blu Cru definitely hit a home run with their cross country smokers. I'm looking into the 250X for myself. Hopefully next year BRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!
sorry, i dont know exactly, the sag was done for similar rider before I got the bike and I am not sure what is the clickers setup for the suspension. I am sure its close to stock
I've got a cr 125 and a cr250. yeah you can go quicker on the cr 250, but when you ring the 125 's neck and keep it in power band, it's so rewarding. So much fun 👌
Hey man looked like you were getting around the track good on the 125. Be careful around those other guys. Looked like most of them were sitting down and drifting all over on the jumps! Your line selection was better than most of them I saw. Just a little more momentum on those insides and you will pass them easy.
That's a great bike for fun on the track if you are not actually racing or competing. 2 strokes generally are great for track use but they lack the torque and traction provided by 4-stroke power. I guess the pulsing power of thumpers allows for better grip or maybe the 2-strokes are too snappy and more inclined to spin the wheel. Thanks for another good video.
Two strokes are great! I have never properly ridden a 125 on the track. But I have a sweet '07 RM125 that will be fixed soon :) I'm looking forward to getting some of this fun!
@@dirtniron Do it! That would be a great series to watch! I also just picked up a 1987 KX125 :) another project bike. Gonna make it nice and hopefully, one day do a old-timer race with it. I Hope to see you compete on something too soon! :D
As others said on a wide fast track like this one the outside line is usually the fastest way around as it allows you to stay in the powerband longer. Nice riding and bike......very enjoyable video.
Generally when I'm riding track I'll use the outside of turn that are followed closely by a jump I find it gives better drive off the face but on corners into straights or other corners I'll use the inside line
@@Jeekinz same although 250 is a great ride they get a little hairer at times.125 is so much more forgiving.and feeling is more im in control your not big enough to buck me.
I enjoy the yz125 and the newer yz250f...for a beginner I think the yz125 is easier to get use to riding in general. I have a 17 250f great bike but 2t is alot more fun to ride.
yes, MX is somewhat more dangerous, but also a lot of fun! there are also few things you can do on the track to keep you safer.. like keeping the line, dont cross-jump, etc..
@@dirtniron It can be, if play riding just one always wants to step it up and normally ends in injuries, knee, wrist, shoulders seem to be the worst. I do like it just seems like when you do crash it is worse than 'play riding' in an area or woods riding.
I rode Mx for 4 years, had some pretty nasty crashes, no broken bones. Just did a full re-build on an old cr250, broke my ribs 3rd day out, on some super technical trails up here on WA
I go meet with the dealer on Monday to get my 125x a 22 i can not wait!! I am 61 but look 40 ans as fit as a old man can and a disabled vet and i live in the mtn and have not rode in 20 years and i thought this would be a good start and then z year or so move up to tbe 250f!!
I personally like taking the outside line because it feels a lot more comfortable and I can lean more but also keep some of my speed and momentum. I tend to get thrown off when taking the inside line because it feels weird slowing down a lot and then getting back aggressively on the throttle when I can avoid that by taking this outside line. It’s also a tighter turn and u cant lean as much when taking the inside line since ur killing a lot of your speed and momentum. That’s just me though I’m still somewhat new to the sport and I have a lot to work on but that’s just my opinion. Hope it helped 😁
thanks mate, thats what I think as well, but sometimes inside line is faster and allows you to do passes too. I know these guys are just having fun, same as me. ..but I am trying to mix it up go inside and outside, even same corner switch inside - outside each lap.. I think it makes a better rider.. if you watch pro mx guys, main line is usually inside, although they would sometimes rail outside berm and make the pass that way
@@dirtniron I agree in some circumstances you go with the flow like everyone else. Just don't always keep to inside as there not always faster. Faster lap equals first allways
Yep exactly what I was going to say. Keep it pined. Us gear box as break. You will be even faster. I use to pin the throttle wide open. Take my thumb and press it against the base of the throttle grip mount so I could straighten my wrist out for comfort and be wide open. Only able to ease up a little bit or let go my grip. Coment if you did that
I think you did great. I'm a new dirt bike rider. I've been riding motorcycles all my life but never really owned a dirt bike. I wanted a 125cc bit I have bad patients so at the time I had money all that was available was a Honda cr250r. So I bought that. I've rode 125's but NEVER a 250cc. OMG BIG DIFFERENCE!!! The power is endless! And on the down side it's a 93 so it's WAY heavier. So if anybody watching this has a 125cc for sale or trade hmu. My trade bike would obviously be a 1993 cr250r in really good shape. Alot of new parts.
Good night my dear friends . you don't stop anymore i know that the work for you is satisfactory. I wish I could work with you to learn everything you know about these bikes. I'm sure you love what you do. may god continue to bless you and the cansl too. a hug for you there and the family of this simple Brazilian who also loves these bikes and this sport.
the bottom end sounds real strong on that 125.... my own yz125 great fun... but i found it too many gearchanges per lap when you are really flying... and it always seemed to need a change up -right on the take off ramp of a double jump...too un-nerving.... a 250f was a much easier lap, less gearchanges and a LOT more bottom end, im only weekend clubman...but the 250f was better for the average rider
yes, I see it the same way too, 250f is easier to ride and more forgiving than 125. this 125x has little different power compare to yz125.. so the bottom feels better but its still far from 250f
The 125 is a massive underdog which people over look and it makes you work for it which personally I love the most of riding my ktm xcw125 and you looked like you enjoyed that yz125x
I see more people take the outside because it feels faster and its also easier than ripping the inside wide open. I go both inside and outside, whichever is faster for lap times
Great vid Rado. I have 2020 yz125x too. Love it on the track and the trail. Sold my rmz250 as the yz made my blood run blue ;). So fun and easy to ride, plus very forgiving. I'm almost up to 60 hours now and it still runs like new. Are you going to do any mods? Mine is still stock.
I have a Q for you ,I just am gwttign back in to riding first time in 20 years. I'm 39 5 foot 9 230lbs over weight obviously. Ordered up a new 2021 yz125 think I made a mistake as might I be to heavy? I intend on loosing the weight and rising will deff help that. Any input wpuld be greatly appreciated as I stil can probably get the yz 250 x instead
hi John, I see your comments - here is what I would do. First of all, what kind of riding are you going to do? If motocross only then 125 can keep up with your weight but you need to ride it hard, be on the pipe and clutch it quite a bit. For trails, I think you will miss the bottom and the bike will bog on you slow uphill sections. I spent some time on 125x last year and I was 205lbs, bike did great but would do even better if I am 185lbs. I think 125 can handle it but you have to work for it way more than on some other bikes. Since you are coming back after 20 years, I think 250x would be safer option, specially if you plan to ride trails. Hope that helps. good luck!
Looked like a lot of fun!! Probably the reason they both dropped off at the end is probably because they couldn’t hang on any more !.. it’s hard work on a big 4T. But you need to practice lees cruising and be either on the gas or on the brakes. Too many times your rolling for 10-15-20metres… where you can be either on the gas or the brakes. You jump really well though bro! Good work 👌🏼
Taking outside, it depends on rider, track, terrain and situation. It could be a smoother line, it could be they need or want more speed coming out of the corner maybe for a jump right out of the corner or some whoops or something. Plus someone who isn't as good a rider probably feels more comfortable there.
Thanks, makes sense. I am not that good but want to take inside ruts in order to get better. There are some tracks that develop deep ruts and I find myself struggling with them
When you go on the outside line you can hold your momentum and you won’t have to change gears but the inside line is harder but when done right is more rewarding
sounds good Everett, thanks!
Dirt N Iron no problem
I would say on small tracks yes. But on this autobahn/ highway the outside line is way faster, if you know how to corner. 👍
125 engages you and keeps you having to stay ahead and on top of your game.
So rewarding.... would love to have another one day. Looks like you were having a blast !
couldn't agree more, its super rewarding once you hit the corner correctly, not easy too... but helps to get better at riding

That is awesome! thanks for sharing, I will check out your videos...
Epic two stroke sound!! Also, great battles with the 250s and 450 4 strokes!
thanks man, yea that 125 sounds pretty good on the pipe! ;)
If we al use the inside rut it gets very bumpy and crowdy, so overtaking might get easier on the outside.
thanks for sharing, appreciate it!
Good luck with sale and a purchase too ;)
I love my yz125 unfortunately ended my season early yesterday but the videos are nice to watch while I’m bored in the hospital
oh no man, wish you speedy recovery! what happened?
Dirt N Iron track changed the triple and made it shorter and unfortunately I didn’t give myself enough time to get used to the bike and I cased the triple and unfortunately broke my left leg
I'm currently riding a 125 four-stroke and it's not fast, but it has good low-end and mid-range power. I have no choice but to take the outside line every time in order to keep up the momentum and have enough speed for the next hill or jump. The bike is very fun to ride, and you're pretty much trying to keep up the momentum and keep it as much as possible wide open at top speed all the time.
thanks for sharing
You were keeping up with the 450 on the 125 nice riding
thanks Ryan!
I'd be interested to know how tall you are. I'm thinking of a 125cc for trail riding and want something light
I am 5'11" 200lbs..
That is awesome! thanks for asking that question 2 years ago :)
I will have another video about YZ regarding carburetor mod.. should be good upgrade.
Dirt N Iron sweet thanks for the reply!! And have fun🤘
@@dirtniron It really shows on the video. You are going really fast now.
It's so much easier to go fast on a little bike. 😊
On wide tracks like this the outside line is mostly faster, because you‘re keeping your momentum from the straight.
thanks!
Rado night and day with ur Moto skills. Excellent control I still got my 93 yz125 steel frame. Smiles for miles
thanks Tim, glad you see the improvement. I used to have 1999 yz125.. now I am thinking I need another one for MX build ;)
Looking forward to seeing you ride it on some single track and some tight technical trails.
we should be able to do it soon, thanks!
Love your channel brother, your videos are getting better and better all the time! Thanks for the excellent content!
thanks Cam! Glad you like them!
Its the "X" version so it has more low end and less top end compared to the normal yz125, that's probably why he likes the inside lines.
yes it does, check out my new video with different carb and STIC, its way better than stock
Just found your channel doing research on the 125X. Well done - subscribed!
Awesome, thank you! welcome aboard!
I might never be a motocrosser, but being as woods dicer, I still love the 125. When you can just bash its lungs in the whole time and it only ever makes enough power... thats the addicting part!
yea, it is addicting! ;)
Great video. You should do a comparison between the YZ 125x and YZ 250x
thanks, that would be good
Going along for the ride with you was awesome.
Have fun!
I've got a 125 and like the way they handle, pretty light weight and I weight about 210...
cool! thanks for sharing Ross
If you feel fast your having a blast!!! "Much Blast!!" I love your enthusiasm!!
Exactly! thanks Travis ;)
I am around 202-205lbs without the gear right now. if you check my other 125x videos, some guys commented that they are over 200lbs and still doing fine on 125.. best if you can test ride one.. good luck!
Epic battles Rado....enjoyed your footage...I dont ride motocross or race but I do ride the trails on a 2018 Honda CRF250x...Many thanks from Cornwall in the UK
thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it! nice trail bike you have, is it street legal in UK?
Yes it is Rado, 90 % of riders in my group locally ride KTM but I like Japanese bikes, so went with Honda. Keep up the good work, love your channel. I have a few vids on mine of me and my friends riding local trails. If you get chance and find some time it would be awesome if you took a quick look 👌👍
Awesome stuff, loving the channel.
Would love for you to compare the YZ125X with a YZ250X
thanks Andre, coming soon ;)
Looked great, did you compare your times with your 250?
yes I did, on 125 I was hitting consistently same time as my best time on 250f..
@@dirtniron thanks, great video
I just got my first Dirt bike and just need some advice on engine breaking. They say don't do it due to no oil getting to piston, Does this mean every time I let off the gas I should pull in the clutch or is it ok to coast for a little bit w/o clutching or gassing ?
Yes I currently own a two stroke and everything time I'm not on the gas I usually pull in the clutch and blip the throttle
I woldnt get too crazy about pulling clutch all the time, dont get into heavy engine breaking but little bit is fine.. I ride that all the time and I also asked some really knowledgeable guys about it
This is a myth to some degree, the engine will be getting some oil while engine breaking, as the carb will still be providing idle level fueling.
I've been on 2 strokes my whole life (50+) years and I now own a CRF250R and I'm having a heck of a time transitioning to a 4 stroke.
what do you find most difficult in the transition? I think I still ride 2 stroke like it is a 4 stroke
@@dirtniron I ride or slip the clutch just a little in my turns on a 2 stroke to keep my power band up. At the center of the turn, my rpms are up, dump the clutch and I'm outta there. Now a lot depends on track conditions on how fast I'll dump that clutch
thanks for sharing!
just got my 2024 YZ 125. It's faster than the X. I'm pretty much addicted. FUN,FUN,FUN
Man I loved my 03 kx125...never took it to the track but that was a fun bike to ride around the little makeshift track I had at home...never used all 6 gears because the track was too short but I opened it up on the asphalt and gravel roads and that thing was pretty quick for a 125.
125 are great bikes
That thing has decent mid-range to get your inside line done quicker with more control.
yes it does have decent power around mid-range
125's are ENDLESS amounts of fun. I'm really happy you're enjoying the X! The Blu Cru definitely hit a home run with their cross country smokers. I'm looking into the 250X for myself. Hopefully next year BRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!
Couldn't agree more!
1 reason to go outside is to take a longer racing line to give more straight away speed IF you need to clear a jump
thanks for sharing Jane.
what are your compression and rebound settings front and rear? also whats your sag set at? thanks!! great video
sorry, i dont know exactly, the sag was done for similar rider before I got the bike and I am not sure what is the clickers setup for the suspension. I am sure its close to stock
Dirt N Iron thanks for taking the time to respond. Just bought one a few months ago and I love it! Cheers 🍻 🌵
congrats man, great bike!
People under estimate the small bikes but there super fast and great fun. Nice riding Rado.
exactly, I was one of them. Thanks mate!
I've got a cr 125 and a cr250. yeah you can go quicker on the cr 250, but when you ring the 125 's neck and keep it in power band, it's so rewarding. So much fun 👌
Right on!
Hey man looked like you were getting around the track good on the 125. Be careful around those other guys. Looked like most of them were sitting down and drifting all over on the jumps! Your line selection was better than most of them I saw. Just a little more momentum on those insides and you will pass them easy.
thank you Scott, appreciate the advice! I will work on it more. Cheers!
2 strokes are so much fun on the track, specially smaller engines
Two strokes are great! I have never properly ridden a 125 on the track. But I have a sweet '07 RM125 that will be fixed soon :) I'm looking forward to getting some of this fun!
Sounds great! I am seriously considering building 125 mx bike ;)
@@dirtniron Do it! That would be a great series to watch! I also just picked up a 1987 KX125 :) another project bike. Gonna make it nice and hopefully, one day do a old-timer race with it. I Hope to see you compete on something too soon! :D
that sounds very interesting! lets see what can I come up with in the future
Love your vids man. You ride soo smoothly it’s crazy. I’m jealous I wanna ride like that 😂😂😂 rlly nice bike aswell, I got a 06 Ktm 125
thanks bro, appreciate it! I am still quite new to MX riding, I think anybody can ride like I do, just keep on riding and it will get better ;)
As others said on a wide fast track like this one the outside line is usually the fastest way around as it allows you to stay in the powerband longer. Nice riding and bike......very enjoyable video.
Thanks for the info! glad you liked it
Generally when I'm riding track I'll use the outside of turn that are followed closely by a jump I find it gives better drive off the face but on corners into straights or other corners I'll use the inside line
thanks Bob, makes sense!
I would take that 125 2 stroke over that 250 four stroke anyday
thanks for sharing David!
I rode 250 2 strokes for almost 20 years, bought a 125 and was actually faster on it.
Still doesn’t compare to a cr 500
A perfect inside line will always pass a perfect outside rider 🔥, got to be more ready with the brakes to hit inside lines
sounds good, thanks!
Some years ago 125 was fun, today a 250/300 2 stroke is where it is at. Enduro is much more fun on a MX track always results in injuries.
yes, MX is somewhat more dangerous, but also a lot of fun! there are also few things you can do on the track to keep you safer.. like keeping the line, dont cross-jump, etc..
I am 61 but look 40 ans as fit as a old man can and a disabled vet and i live in the mtn and have not rode in 20 years and i thought this would be a good start and then z year or so move up to tbe 250f!!
right on, thats a good plan!
Blown away by the image stabilisation of your action cam. What do you use? It looks really smooth and slick
thanks Phil, I am using gopro hero 7black with digital image stabilization
On the outside there is a wall to ride and you can go as fast as you want on the outside, the inside you have to slow down and make a sharper turn
thanks for sharing!
Nice bike! I’ve always wanted a 125 2 stroke! I got a ‘05 Honda Crf 100 but I need something bigger because I’m 15.
Go for it!
So being 5.11 and 170 it would be perfect for me!! Thank you for all your advice!!!
yes, should be great for you!
Hope it helped 😁
thanks for sharing, makes sense. I like to mixed it up, I feel that I can go faster if I learn to ride inside rut well.
I’m bout to purchase a 2 stroke, I’ve been riding four strokes my whole life but how often do you mix oil in your gas and refill and what kind
each time you fill the tank, I use Klotz R50 premix oil
You carry more speed on a burm mate thats why. It also helps gain more speed for jumps coming up
thanks mate, thats what I think as well, but sometimes inside line is faster and allows you to do passes too.
Coment if you did that
Thanks for the tips!
It was "so much blast" just watching you have fun. 👍👍
haha, glad you enjoyed it Marvin!
Alot of new parts.
sounds good Kenneth, you should not have problem selling cr250r ;)
I am picking my YZ - 125 - 2021 next month- I can’t wait
cool, congrats Dave!!
Generally outside line you carry more speed where inside line is shorter but requires more brake and then throttle
thanks man! but inside line seems to be faster once you know how to rail that inside rut.. at least pros are usually taking those insides more often..
Good night my dear friends . you don't stop anymore i know that the work for you is satisfactory. I wish I could work with you to learn everything you know about these bikes. I'm sure you love what you do. may god continue to bless you and the cansl too. a hug for you there and the family of this simple Brazilian who also loves these bikes and this sport.
thanks Joao, appreciate it!
the bottom end sounds real strong on that 125.... my own yz125 great fun... but i found it too many gearchanges per lap when you are really flying... and it always seemed to need a change up -right on the take off ramp of a double jump...too un-nerving.... a 250f was a much easier lap, less gearchanges and a LOT more bottom end, im only weekend clubman...but the 250f was better for the average rider
yes, I see it the same way too, 250f is easier to ride and more forgiving than 125. this 125x has little different power compare to yz125.. so the bottom feels better but its still far from 250f
The 125 is a massive underdog which people over look and it makes you work for it which personally I love the most of riding my ktm xcw125 and you looked like you enjoyed that yz125x
Well said Steve! I absolutely loved it!
I have 2 older cr 250's 92 and 84 I miss my cr 125 it was a fun bike to ride just enough power
I see more people take the outside because it feels faster and its also easier than ripping the inside wide open. I go both inside and outside, whichever is faster for lap times
thanks for sharing Tyler, mixing outside and inside makes sense to me.
Mine is still stock.
thats great Simon, glad you like your 125x! I have STIC block for the carburetor, should help with bottom power.. will do that soon
Hope that helps. good luck!
what is the track? also good riding and keeping your lines instead of cutting off other riders
its cahuilla creek mx. thanks, I try to be predictable on the track, feels safer if other guys can know where I go..
How does changing a smaller sprocket affects how the bike feels? Can it make the gears feel longer in some way?
I have a video on it, one on the track and one on the trails going from 50 to 48. look it up on my channel
There is a great improvement to your riding on the 125x!
Every time you touched the pipe during the review my brain screamed "NO!" haha
thanks Nir, no worries the pipe was already cold ;)
I think they go outside because when they get to the top they can boost and get more speed than going on the inside.
thanks!
mr rad where can i buy the tire dunlop sticker yellow color ,i like that dunlop sticker thanks ,mr rad
they are not for sale, for promo only.. I get them from Dunlop
+50rod please can i buy two dunlop sticker for my dirt bike yamaha yz 125 2020 ,thanks
Good work 👌🏼
I’m was very interested on 125x but the Ktm for 2021 bring a 125xc so I’m gonna wait a little bit more to see that baby too.
yea, that sounds like a very interesting bike
on a 125 the outside line makes it easier to preserve momentum because you can keep up a faster pace.
thanks Paul, makes sense
Excellent video, and nice riding!🤙
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks!
I thought the X was for more enduro riding. Did you have a go in the woods with this bike? thanks!
yes it is for enduro, but its not far from mx too.. I did some trail riding and will do more
@@dirtniron cool! If you get the chance to film it that would be awesome! And some hard enduro too.. :P
How to ride a 2 stroke mx bike, keep it pinned and dont brake ;)
Don't worry, Yamaha brakes don't work that well anyway.
Lol you should try Kawasaki brakes
what easier to ride the 250 or the 125 ? I dont know which big better for beginner
i think 250..
You can maintain more momentum on the outside line. In the inside line is more suitable for a 450.
thanks
Taking outside, it depends on rider, track, terrain and situation.
It could be a smoother line, it could be they need or want more speed coming out of the corner maybe for a jump right out of the corner or some whoops or something. Plus someone who isn't as good a rider probably feels more comfortable there.
Thanks, makes sense. I am not that good but want to take inside ruts in order to get better. There are some tracks that develop deep ruts and I find myself struggling with them
@@dirtniron Oh you're way better than I am.
What track is that it looks super fun!
