Mark I used to be a Patreon a year and a half ago. Was gone trying not to die for a long time. I am going to start trying to catch up. This video just reminded me of the quality of your shrimp! Second to none! I need to go further back and look at your media. Those two shrimp were breathtaking! Good to see you still moving forward!
You're just the best, Mark. I love to see how your crossbreeding goes as you try out so much stuff and people just see how much you love this hobby and how invested you are. I really love listening to you. Please keep the work up (I'm so mad at myself that I just found your channel a few days ago and I have so much catching up to do! Nice wishes from germany :)
I'm so happy to see this video I love watching shrimp videos about crossbreeding and selective breeding something I need to learn so interesting . As always Mark another incredible video from you.
survival rate was very low, right now I only have about 5 survivors from the latest batch, we think my PH is to high so we are lowering it a little with every water change.
Thanks Mark for your lovely videos I appreciate for me beginner.. What is the limit of GH for breeding, or otherwise the ideal you observe for Galaxies.. 😎✌️☀️Thanks! Pat.
Hey Mark, awesome video as always. I have a question about water changes. I have a few large tanks, they are 50 gallon which is 190 L. With a tank that large, can you put the water back in a little faster, are usually run airline tubing without a shut off valve so the water runs in slowly. I figure with that much water a 10% water change would not affect the parameters as much. What are your thoughts on this?
Hello mate, for any tank with active soil you need to drip it back in because there is a ph difference between the water you put in and the tanks ph, for neos it doesnt seem.
Hi Mark … your shrimp look amazing. I was looking correctly to see black galaxy in same tank with blue bolts. Are you trying to make them cross. if so what is the advantage of that cross? Also how do you get so much algae to grow in your tanks?
Oh they are still going, I have about 4 tanks setup for this little project , cull tank 3 breed out tanks and one with red galaxy pintos all from this cross. I move house in a few months so this project will be picked up again.
@@MarksShrimpTanks very nice project thank you mark wish you all the best to settle in new 🏡 keep up the shrimping I thought I may give this a go one day but thank you 😊
Nice to see your videos, but.. At. The same age female are more strong, male are concave at their belly?.. Can you do a picture of the difference between.. I know it's difficult but your pro! 😉Thanks! Patrick.
tank was at a standstill for more than a year, then I added some new ada soil and its picked up again, the shrimp are very active so I am at that point where I am not messing with the tank and fingers crossed we get some more batches of shrimp.
@@MarksShrimpTanks Thank You. I have some good Galaxy Fishbones and some great Galaxy Pintos, wanting BOA, so thought I'd see how it was going for you, I may give it a go. I may check with Grant @ "The Garden of Eder" he is big time into shrimp genetics.
yes and no, they had multiple batches of babies but the survival rate was very very low like one or two shrimp lets, so I am trying them on a different soil.
Mark I need help please. My water parameters are all fine. I check every week after I do my water change. I do water changer every 7/8 days from 55l tank I change 10l. I remember you said on a video that big water changes could be reason for shrimp death. Do you think this could be my problem ?
I am struggling to keep the baby shrimp alive, we have had about 4 batches and we have right now only two survivors, they did have another batch today, I will post a picture for you on my community tab.
@@MarksShrimpTanks awesome! Thank you! I have neo and tangerine tigers. I want to set up a taiwan bee tank. Just want a mix of them to breed for a display by my others. Is there any specifics you recommend. As in pinto or panda? I was thinking red pintos with blue bolts and Maybe black pandas. Thoughts?
Yes sir, The girl has been berried for about 3 weeks so we should see baby shrimp soon, the main issue I had was not knowing if the german spotted head pintos were male, eventually I put 5 in and 2 were girls.
@@adamgennello8805 Yes she had babies but I only ever seen maybe 4 of them, the young were one blue and black , one red zebra pinto and a couple of tiny blue bolts. starting with just one girl this was always going to be a slow process.
yes just a few though, I added more shrimp into the tank to try and speed things up a bit, now we have 3 berried fishbone galaxies in there with the red spotted pintos.

Your shrimp room is amazing! I’m waiting for my wild betta to sell and go then I’ll have a shrimp room myself
Those German SHP really have a baby boom going :-)
Will be interesting to see which variations come out of it ^^

Really need an update for this video!
breeding has been really slow with them, I have like 20 of them now all various grades, I probably need to restart the tank which I will do soon.
wow what a good looking blue bolt/pinto tank
Norway. Love the flag!
lovely shrimp pick for them both good luck with pair hope thy breed well
Can’t wait to see what you get!! And the following generations!
Those spotted head pintos look soooo good 👍
Soo Mark you have boa from that mix ?
Any update on this galaxy vs German pinto project?
Super cool there cheers
What are the white shrimp with blue heads called please? At 4:04
Very cool.. Hello from Liverpool England
Hi mark. Just going through your videos and was wondering if this cross worked at all for you. Thanks,
Richard
still working on it, i have a lot more space now to be able to do stuff so this should progress more this year.
Thanks for the reply mark.👍🏻
4:07 what are those little things within the gravel ???
Just some type of seed shrimp.
Thanks Mark for your lovely videos I appreciate for me beginner..

Hello Pat I have them around 4-5 gh right now I am trying to see if I have more breeding luck at a lower gh, normally I am around a 6,

its how they are made so you get blue young, I added more blue shrimp to increse the amount of shrimp and to get them breeding faster.
What are the white bits for in the tanks? Xx
ceramic rings just little hiding spots for baby shrimp, the larger adults cant graze inside them ether.
What is the boa crossbreeding updates?? Any videos?
watch for update monthly update videos after that time.
hey marks, thanks for sharing a good video.what do you mean by dripping the water back in?I thought we should drip new water after water change
drip all water even when you move shrimp from tank to tank in the same room , you get no more deaths this way.
He meant drip the new remineralized water back in, not the old water you remove during the WC lol.
@@MarksShrimpTanks I put some new rodi water in small container plus mineral and then drip
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Fingers crossed
I'm a newbie to shrimp can you please explain what you mean by fishbone and a backline?
yes sire, think of a skeleton, the back line is like the spine and the fishbone is like a spine with ribs attached to it :)
did you end up with any BOA(s) with this mix?
not yet, the tank will be redone very soon, so I hope for a bit more breeding after that.
Nice mark. hope it will work out!
I hope so too
i just put a fem boa with a prl..
.. what do you think.. did i go too extreme?
will be interesting to see what comes out, let me know ?
Great video! The two shrimp seemed like they might both be female to me, but I can't be sure.
could be, I added another shrimp to the tank today what I think is a male.
What was the outcome of offspring ? May I know please and thank you

Only problem I can see is my kh is a little higher
I do big water changes still, as soon as I started dripping all my water change water back into the tanks i dont get deaths .
I stopped having problems like this when I started dripping new water from buckets into my tanks.

I think the German spotted head u picked is a female Mark
yes it probably is, new glasses and new shrimp will be added today hahaha
