I think Alonso's HR was so special in a few different ways; it saved us from elimination in an incredibly clutch situation, but leading up to it everyone had gassed out on what to expect from him. It was very similar to Roy Hobbs, who went through that terrible slump then just hits the most important home run of the season out of the blue. We weren't just happy we got the lead in the 9th, we were also so happy to be cheering for Pete again.
My only complaint would be that I wish we could hear the call starting from the pitcher starting his motion. Some we were able to but not all. Unless because of copyright can't play the complete sequence
The Al Weis WS HR was his only HR at Shea in about 300 PAs there. In fact his only home game HR in his career for either the Mets or White Sox. The 2 HRs he hit in 1969 were in back-to-back games in July against the Cubs and helped lead to wins. He hit the WS HR off Dave McNally, off whom he had hit one of his White Sox HRs. So McNally was the only pitcher to give up 2 HRs to Al Weis.
The brain says Pete over both Lindor bombs. My fav from 24 was def paco 161. It was the icing on the gravy. Everything else was no pressure pure joy. Love Dykstra making the list. Old enough to remember. And then DS!
Very good list (I could quibble, but why...) Couple of things....I was at the Benny 13inning HR. I have never felr a stadium as tense as Shea was in every extra inning until Benny blew it up. I was in the upper deck and it was MOVING up and down, not a little, but A LOT! For the 86 Straw HR, Straw was mad at Davey for taking him out of Game 6 in a double switch. So Straw took his time around the bases. Al Nipper, who threw the HR ball to Straw, didnt like that. So much so, that he plunked him in a 1987 spring training game, that caused the benches to empty!
Very very entertaining list. But. Gary Carter- 2 run HR off Nipper Game 4 WS gives Mets a 2-0 lead in the game. You totally forgot that one. Big one. Big!! Also, Daniel Murphy in 2015. No 2015 Murphy?? Wow.
Hmmmmmm let’s see. I bet I could guess a whole bunch of these. Lenny Dykstra game 3 vs Astros Lenny Dykstra game 3 vs Red Sox Ray Knight game 7 vs Red Sox Straw game 3 vs Astros Gary Carter game 4 vs Red Sox Pratt vs Diamondbacks game 4- I was there!! Was Alfonso HR in Wild card in Cincy covered already? Ventura grand slam single Daniel Murphy- every single game in the NL playoffs vs Dodgers and Cubs
Skipped Carter's WS HRs for some reason. Cincy game was over before it started. Leiter threw a gem, quietest G163 ever. So no. Murph's HR against Greinke made the list. None against the Cubs; not a competitive series.
I was at the game against Houston. The empty seats at the start was largely due to the secondary market being all scalpers. The cops were starting to crack down and it took extra time for them to manually sell them all. I know from experience. 😂 Also, Keith Jackson was the worst baseball announcer ever.
Not the best obviously, but strawberry going yard game 6 in 86, after all the bullshit the boston fans gave him, one of my best met memories, i shed a tear actually
What are the Mets doing I'm tired of Pete Alonso let him go play for San Francisco. We should sign Anthony Santander sign Josh Bell to play first base.. And call it a day.
Lol this is what happens when you root for the Jets you're talking about old home runs from another team that hasn't won anything but hey knock yourself out
It's cool that you guys love the Mets as much as I do. This was great. I'm old enough to remember all of these homers.

These were a lot of fun thanks to all those involved in making it great stuff

Great stuff! Wow. How old are you, if I may?
@jimwerther 64.
Great work guys. Loved going down memory lane.
Sub’d been a fan for a very long time
Great list. Awesome off-season series idea. Keep it up.
Great series! Love the Rico! Your number 3 banner for Al Weiss says 1986 and not 1969. Typo I guess. Still great stuff. Let’s sign Pete!!

Gary Thorne was a great announcer for the Mets
Lindor's Grand Slam ended the Phillies season! That elevates it amongst the greatest in Mets history!
Would have preferred to hear the radio call for some of these. Tv calls are almost always inferior.
I think one of Donn Clendenon’s World Series home runs should’ve made the list.
I remember rico hitting a home run to win a in 1994 for us
HIs walk off homer came in 1996
@8644mec one of those years my bad it's been 30 years I can't remember the exact year
Very good list (I could quibble, but why...)

Rusty’s 1973 home runs in LCD vs Reds and WS vs A’s.
Day 19 of asking for a Shea Station Rico off-season crossover combined pod. 2 best Mets pods in the game.
Very very entertaining list. But.

He listed Murph's HR against LA in G5 to win the 2015 NLDS
@ my bad
Piazza 9/11 not on list?
Only home run that ever truly moved me outside of Pete’s against the brewers
The Piazza 9/11 HR was disqualified from this list because it's in its own category.
Missed that haha
Makes sense
@@Cr1ticalsh0t
Evan addressed all that in the "honorable mentions" show last week
Hmmmmmm let’s see. I bet I could guess a whole bunch of these.

Ventura grand slam single
Daniel Murphy- every single game in the NL playoffs vs Dodgers and Cubs

Piazza 9/11 ?
These fucking commercials
You know what the Dodgers say about the Mets? F the METS!!!!
What are the Mets doing I'm tired of Pete Alonso let him go play for San Francisco.
We should sign Anthony Santander sign Josh Bell to play first base..
And call it a day.
Bell signed with the Nats yesterday.
I don't want Alonso back. I definitely didn't want Bell.
Lol this is what happens when you root for the Jets you're talking about old home runs from another team that hasn't won anything but hey knock yourself out
STILL upset about Soto?
Boring BRO!!!
