I remember those "Piracy. It's a Crime." Ads on some of my old VHS Tapes as a kid. Honestly, I kinda fast forwarded through those bits. They were in the way of my cartoons and movies darnit!
Graffiti: It's a (FUN!) crime.
The Break The Cycle one has stuck me since I saw it when I was young. It was that effective.
Also FUN FACT: The narration for the Hook advert was done by Paul McGann, the Eighth Doctor! He also narrated one of the motorcyclist awareness adverts for Think!
Really? wow!
Before you showed us the "break the cycle" ad, and said "it's quite a serious one" I got a Tik Tok ad.
Did it have the 'Skip Ad' option?
NinkyNonk500 /Max M-N yes (thank god)
lol *L on forehead*
Show me the ad
I remember seeing the 'Piracy. It's a Crime' advert just before the main menu on my Alvin and the Chipmunks film DVD.
The Phones4U advert actually had a bit of a comical edge to it, it would’ve been a great advert for Halloween
“Dog Breath” was pretty funny too, it was funny, with a bit of a gross-out factor, it feels like a fever dream or just a weird dream. Heck it even makes the gross-out gags from SoongeBob season 4-9 look harmless
I'm actually surprised that you didn't feature the NSPCC FULL STOP can't look advert where several depiction of children being abused were depicted from the perspective of a character or someone on a poster or magazine averting their eyes while the sound made it very clear what was happening.
I don't know if it would be considered one of the most controversial adverts, but for me personally, it was one of the most upsetting.
Poter?
Hell nah even rupert from the hit show Rupert is also there
Yeah even the spice girls were in it
Yeah totally agree about the Dog Breath advert, I remember when I first saw that it almost put me off my appetite!
8:52 I love how the creators of this ad were fans of the Cornetto Trilogy! 😂
nyuk nyuk
I always saw that anti piracy ad on dvds with my brother as a kid. We were always like, bold of you to assume we wouldn’t steal a tv, a handbag, and a dvd 😂
I’ve been binging your video scaries series, and I love it. It’s always been a weird fascination of mine
YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A POT NOODLE
The piracy ad always used to come on before a film for me. It wasn't scary for me, but it was annoying nonetheless.
+Mr. Lulé
Every time I saw that woman on the computer, I knew it’d be a waste of 45 seconds.
Huh I remember being very traumatised by the hook advert. Fun fact, in Scotland, they still ran the billboard advert after the ad had been pulled from TV.
O. O wait, you're looking at the Look and Read series next??? I loved them as a kid! And tbh I found some of them a tad scary as a kid, no idea why though.
Never seen the Piracy Ad before. Thanks for sharing!
Very skilfully done mini documentary. Going to binge watch your channel now. Back in a tick!
Shocked you didnt put NSPCC - cartoon! It got about 100+ complains!
The problem with the piracy one is that it makes stealing seem sick as hell. Like Ive never stolen in my life but that bangin ass track made me go damn. Maybe I SHLD steal a tv
I though the noodle ad was some lust PSA or something at first
10:30 I wasn’t expecting that one! It’s very nostalgic for me
That was brilliant! Looking forward for what's to come!
the piracy one features pirated music
the get unhooked is just a jojo reference to beach boy
The last one is on Charlie and the chocolate factory. The new one on dvd
Then there's when McDonald's thought it was a good idea to make an advert about a dead Dad.
LOOKS LIKE IT'S MR JOHNSON'S OFFAL EMPORIUM, THEN!
Um.. was that x-treme mint commercial made by cyriak?
-[toothpaste snake!]
Tango
I remember the Piracy is a crime one from when I was very very little my 2006 DVD of ice age the meltdown Had it
And come to think of it I’ve just realised I think it was also on my 2008 DVD of Alvin & The Chipmunks
Is the “hooked” ad voiced by Paul McGann? Can’t find it anywhere saying so 😭
@@dxctr_master Yes it is.
Can someone please tell me the music that plays during the voice overs? It's so familiar, but I just can't quote place it?
You wouldn't download a car
What a cool send off Adam!
thx for more in the fewtre!
Its a shame them dodgy old talking only phone lines where so able to get a lot faster up to 24 meg (without fttc) as its only took 30 years for us to start getting fibre
The reason hello I’m a pizza said the KFC ad because it was rood and bad manners to me I just don’t get it
Learn to grammar. Also punctuation much?
@@404TVfr if you have nothing nice to say don’t say it.😒
YOU WOULDNT DOWNLOAD A FUCKING CAR WOULD YOU?!
So long, Video Scaries. You'll be missed.
Pot Noodle Horn is in my opinion stupid and not scary. Phones4U is actually pretty funny imo. Xcite Dog Breath is deeply uncomfortable. Hooked is terrifying. Break the Cycle is... I have no words to describe the horror. As for Act on CO2, I disagree with you. That was just TERRIBLE. SO FEARMONGERING! This is coming from someone who is terrified of global warming. You Wouldn't Steal a Car must be commended for its hypocrisy. It stole its catchy music from an artist without permission.
Exactly what song is it? I'm talking about the last advert.
Sophie Bitzinger late comment but fun fact: the reason why they banned it is because Britain is one of the first countries to enter the industrial revolution, lack any sunlight for most of the year with light rain, and they are an Island Nation.
@@fcmacbeth I believe the song in the "You Wouldn't Steal a Car" one contains an interpolation of "No Man Army" by The Prodigy. The composer who made the piece of music for the anti-piracy advert was a Dutch guy named Melchior Rietveldt.
